Lovense Vulse Review

Lovense Vulse sits out on a marbled table next to a potted plant. There's another plant in the background. There's very strong directional light, casting a large shadow behind the Vulse on the table. For my Lovense Vulse review.

A discreet sex toy that can be slid into the vagina and does all of the thrusting movements without you lifting a finger. It sounds like a pipedream, doesn’t it? Well, that’s the basic premise behind this vibrator, so let’s dive into this innovative toy with my Lovense Vulse review.

Lovense, the manufacturer, became famous after their Lovense Lush (a vibrator-only, insertable vaginal egg) went viral. Its iconic pink tail became a common sight on any camsite. (It didn’t hurt that their toys can be connected to camsite’s tipping system, allowing viewers to pay the cam model in order to see the sex toy buzz with pleasure.)

The Vulse takes that very same shape and premise, but it adds a thrusting motor onto the experience. Yes, that means the Vulse is equipped with vibrations and thrusting motions.

Just like the Lush, the Vulse is crafted to be slid into the vagina, tucked in beyond the entrance, with the tail hanging outside of the vagina as the antennae for app connectivity. Once there, a button on the tip of the tail can be used for manual control, but the toy is most-definitely designed for app control. (The app unlocks most of the functionality.)

The Vulse offers 10mm thrusts at a speed of up to 120 thrusts per minute. These are small, tiny movements, but they can be felt internally. Just don’t expect it to get anywhere near the long, deep thrusts of a sex machine.

About the width of a biological penis, the Vulse is 1.46″ in diameter at the widest insertable point with a short 3.35″ insertable length. It’s slightly longer than most of my tampons, honestly; it really is designed with that same idea: just tuck it up in there (though the Vulse definitely feels better once there!)

Unlike most Lovense toys, which offer monster-long battery lives, the Vulse’s thrusting movement takes up a lot of battery power. You can only get about an hour of use time off a full battery.

Lovense Vulse Review: Does It Feel Like Thrusting?

No…but also a little bit of yes.

When fully inserted, you can feel the Vulse moving inside of you. With muscles completely relaxed, it doesn’t feel like much, but it adds intensity each time your pelvic floor contracts around the Vulse. It feels good, and it replicates just the internal feel of having something deep inside of you.

What the Vulse doesn’t feel like is intercourse with a partner or like using a regular or thrusting dildo. Since the Vulse’s movements are entirely internal, it’s missing all of the nerve endings and friction at the entrance that really makes thrusting feel like thrusting.

Instead, the vaginal entrance is entirely left out of the equation. When the Vulse is fully inserted, it sits beyond the pelvic bone and the entrance, leaving all of the movement to be made internally.

The movement of the Vulse does not cause the tail to move with it while inserted; while you’ll get to enjoy a little bit of the vibrations of the Vulse via the tail, there isn’t any movement at the entrance.

GIF showcases the Vulse's movement, showing how the accordion-folded area pushes in and out from the tip of the Vulse. It's a small movement.

So, yes, the Vulse does feel like thrusting, but it’s only part of the thrusting equation. If you primarily love the internal feel of movement, you’ll probably love the Vulse. If the nerve endings of the entrance are part of what you love about thrusting, you might find the Vulse a bit lacking.

I will say, though, having the Vulse entirely inserted means that the Vulse never went up against the strongest musculature at the vaginal entrance. That means, no matter how close I got to orgasm or how high up I had the Vulse turned up, the motors never locked up. The toy never stopped thrusting. As someone who has bopped from one disappointing rabbit vibrator to another, this was a lovely, refreshing surprise.

The Vulse lays on my fingers. It's about as thick as two fingers. It's slightly longer than my finger length.

Does It Hit the G-Spot?

Okay, so if the Vulse is entirely internal…what about that internal spot that gets everyone’s attention? Does the Vulse hit the g-spot?

At least for me, the answer is no. After six different Lovense Vulse review sessions specifically set up to get this toy to hit my g-spot, I haven’t managed it.

It just doesn’t provide the upwards, deep angle I need to get it to thrust into the g-spot. I enjoy the sensations of it internally, but it isn’t hitting the g-spot while it does it. I’ve tried holding onto the tail, sliding a finger in alongside it to nestle it further towards the spot, and every body position I can imagine; I still can’t get the Vulse’s thrusting to hit my g-spot while it’s working its mechanical magic.

So, it feels good, but it isn’t the explosive, change-my-life sensations of g-spot pleasure.

I think Vulse’s own marketing imagery shows this really well. Below is a screenshot of their imagery, and I’ve doodled on my g-spot’s general location with purple. The toy thrusts in and out towards the end of the vaginal canal, but it never quite gets that upward angle that I need in order to feel it hit my g-spot.

(I’m so sad about it too. If the Vulse could manage to get up against my g-spot for all of that thrusting, I think I really could enjoy one of those “orgasm in public” experiences that all of the movies portray with sex toys like this.)

The Lovense Vulse tip faces the camera. This showcases how it actually has a bit of a triangular shape that's taller than it is wide. The tail stands upright in the background, holding its shape despite not really being held in place.

Lovense Vulse Review: What about Public Play Then?

Speaking of public play, how does the Vulse stack up to some of the best wearable vibrators?

Well, it doesn’t hit the g-spot, and it doesn’t stimulate the entrance of the vagina, but that DOES mean that it has potential as a public play vibrator.

It slides entirely into the body (sans the tail), muffling most of the noise of the Vulse. That being said, the Vulse does make more noise than other sex toys that might be a better fit for public play. I can hear the moderate whirring buzz of the Vulse even while standing next to my washing machine on the spin cycle. I can still make out its noise with my music on a decent volume.

The Vulse is probably only a public play vibrator if you:

  • A) Use it on its lowest settings.
  • B) Use it in very loud settings. I’m talking about a bar and grill restaurant where you have to lean into your partner in order to talk or else you’d be yelling. Clubs, and other spots where you have to yell to communicate, would also be viable fits. There’s no way the Vulse is going into a coffee shop or high-end restaurant without notifying everyone around you.

If public play is what you’re craving, pick out those loud spots, or swap over to the Lovense Lush 3. The Lush 3 is much, much quieter than the Vulse as it lacks that whirring, thrusting motor noise that the Vulse has. Instead, the Lush 3 is vibrations-only, providing a buzzing noise at some of the higher intensities, but it’s a noise that can be hidden in loud settings.

If you’re someone who hangs out in loud settings, though, the Vulse can be used in public. The Vulse stays in the body while walking around the house, and it stayed in fine with some cursory jumping jacks and hopping around to simulate a club dance environment. It feels really funky to have something moving inside of you as you’re moving your body around. I’d recommend it as a new life experience even if you don’t think it’d be orgasmic for you.

Let’s Talk App Play

If you’re familiar with Lovense, you know their claim to fame is their online capabilities. Every single toy that Lovense sells can be controlled via the free, online cell phone app. (They have a PC version of the program, too, if you buy a Bluetooth adapter for your computer.)

The Vulse is no different. It, too, can be controlled with this cell phone.

And just like everything Lovense, the connectivity is sublime. While it has a little more of a delay in receiving commands than my external toys (like the panty vibrator, the Ferri), it works pretty reliably.

After three sessions of testing the app compatibility for my Lovense Vulse review, my partner simply stopped asking if it had responded. We both already assumed that it had because it had been doing it so reliably every other time.

With the Lovense Vulse’s noise level, you’ll likely be using this at home for the online control. (Anyone in the world with an internet connection can control the Vulse for you. Kinky. ;) )

This is probably my favorite way to use the Vulse, honestly.

Since the Vulse doesn’t hit any spots that would instantly make me orgasm, it’s a great fit for me for long-distance play. It doesn’t interrupt the clitoral pleasure I’m already doing to myself, but it does add pleasure every time it’s turned on. This works great for me; my online play partner can have a hand in adding more pleasure to my masturbation session in a way that feels hot for them, but it doesn’t interrupt or accidentally cause me to orgasm at a time I wasn’t expecting it.

In a fantasy world, the Vulse would also hit my g-spot on occasion, adding jolts of ultra-strong pleasure to my masturbation, but it’s still pleasurable even without that intensity.

I’ve tried using the Lovense app’s “Sync to Music” functionality with the Vulse, but it wasn’t my favorite way to use it. I have to say, live online control is probably my favorite way to utilize the app.

My hand holds the Lovense Vulse in it. The Vulse looks ribbed and textured, and the tail folds in easily to meet the insertable egg portion of the vibrator. For my Lovense Vulse review.

Lovense Vulse Review: How Do I Prefer It?

I like the Vulse. The internal movement it offers is unique in a way that virtually no other sex toys are. Full-sized thrusting toys involve more external friction. Internal-only vibrators don’t wiggle around while they’re inside of it. Even a partner’s finger or penis can’t really compare to the sensations of the Vulse; fingers and penises are attached to something external.

The Vulse is in a category all to itself, giving me something to squeeze around that feels good without interrupting any external stimulation that I know will get me to orgasm. The Vulse doesn’t need me to use a hand or give the toy a second thought. It’s just there and working.

This is perfect for me. Rabbit vibrators often take away some of that vital clitoral stimulation I depend on. G-spot dildos and vibrators can be great, but they are a multi-hand experience, and now I have to go two-handed.

Instead, the Vulse is just in there, doing its thing, without interrupting anything about my one-handed masturbation experience. Lovely.

With that in mind, it’s been primarily a masturbation toy. It doesn’t feel like much of a warm-up toy for intercourse (it does make it crave intercourse a bit more since the sensations feel like half of what intercourse is), and with marathon sessions, it can leave me a bit too sore internally for intercourse.

If someone else is pleasuring me, if I’m going to do penetration, I’d probably prefer full in-and-out thrusting versus the Vulse. Y’know, if someone else is going to do all the hard work. So the Vulse doesn’t tend to get pulled out if I’m receiving hand sex or oral sex.

It has been pulled out a few times as an add-on to oral sex. Especially if his hands get tired or we’re going for something low-key, the Vulse can be slid in the body, doing its thing, without requiring anybody to add an extra effort in. That’s been nice.

The camera has a close up on the tail of the Vulse. There's a slightly raised area on the end of the tail, showcasing where the button to control the vibrations is on the Vulse.

Summary

The Lovense Vulse does exactly what it promises; it offers internal thrusting that feels fantastic. It does it with gusto; it doesn’t lock up, the vibrations alongside it feel great, and while it makes noise, it’s surprisingly quieter than I thought it was going to be.

The Vulse doesn’t promise to do more than that, and my own expectations for g-spot pleasure or a toy that felt like a thrusting dildo were entirely that: my own, unrealistic expectations.

The Vulse still feels great, and I love its additional of hands-free, internal sensations in a way that other toys don’t provide. It simply adds even more stress-free pleasure, allowing me to masturbate (or play with a partner) in the exact same way I normally would – only with even more pleasure.

As long as you’re in the same boat, I recommend the Vulse wholeheartedly.
