A male masturbation vibrator with a focus on vibrations, the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux is a stationary vibrator with built-in oscillating sensations. Fully rechargeable and waterproof, this vibrator is hand-held size and designed for use with an erect OR flaccid penis. It can do both! The majority of penis-touching portions are covered in silicone while the grasping portions of the toy are covered in plastic. The penis vibrator is about 4.6″ in total length with a width of about 2.83″ across. (Hand-hold-able, but a bit large)
A bit different than traditional male masturbation toys, the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux was designed for stationary use that targets the frenulum – which science shows is the most sensitive area of the penis for a lot of people. The “Pulse Plate” rests right on this sensitive spot (where the most powerful vibrations are focused) while the curved “wings” enjoy vibrations that help transfer the vibrations in a “surround sound” type of system. The Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Use was designed for stationary use, but with a bit of care and some lube, it could be used as a pleasurable stroker as well. I wouldn’t expect to get “full” strokes from it with a good grip. However, you could definitely get some smaller strokes from it without too much difficulty. Due to the open-ended design of this wireless penis vibrator, the Pulse Solo Lux can be used while flaccid or while erect. It does not require an erection to receive pleasure.
tldr; We absolutely love the Pulse Solo Lux masturbator. Like, a lot. It’s perfect from a femdom perspective, and it’s perfect from a “pleasures him” aspect. We’re working on a way to try to get the masturbator to stay in place, hands-free, when the penis is flaccid, and the fact that it takes 2 seconds to turn off vibrations doesn’t always make it a safe choice for controlled edging sessions. Other than that, we absolutely love the hell out of this little toy, and it’s become a constant companion in our bedroom. The remote control works FLAWLESSLY. (Honest to god) The vibrations are pleasurable and orgasmic on the lower-half of the power spectrum (we haven’t even messed around with the 50% strongest ones yet!). Vibrations are very strong and rumbly (probably because of the Pulse Plate), and during our 25-minute sessions, it has yet to numb him from too much vibration like some other penis vibrators manage to do.

The Fit
With an open-ended design and open-sided design, the Pulse Solo Lux penis vibrator is designed to be a decently open fit with most penises. That being said, it likely won’t be a comfortable fit unless your penis is average in width. Since part of the toy has a built-in curvature (for the vibration), this means that, if you’re larger than that curvature, you might find the Pulse Solo Lux to be an uncomfortably tight fit. While I haven’t found the published measurement from the manufacturer, a quick measure of my toy shows the circular circumference to be a little over 4″.
As you can see, though, it fits comfortably around my average-sized dildo and fits around my partner with no issue as well. It’s definitely designed for average penis width size (and maybe slightly above it!) as well as width as small as you’d like. It’s only the thickness that’s a limiting factor with this remote-controlled penis vibrator.
Length is irrelevant because this penis vibrator is not designed to go the entire length of the penis anyway. The “pulse plate” is designed to be placed along the frenulum of the penis (towards the head), so length doesn’t matter as much. (Though with some lube and a penis size that permits it, the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux works decently-enough as a masturbation sleeve that can move along the shaft). Otherwise, it was designed to work as a stationary toy where the vibrations offer all the pleasure without needing to move the toy.
Looking to see more about the fit? More-specifically, how large it would be on an average penis, how long it is, and how it all looks? This visual overview helps a lot:
The Vibrations
Powerful stuff, these vibrations. I think it’s partially because of the “pulse plate” technology that the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux provides. Instead of being fully focused on just vibrations, the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux focuses on providing most of the power through that “pulse plate” area. You can visibly see it on the vibrator. It’s that circular, sticking-out area compared to the regular ridges of the ribbed area. When watching my partner use it, he’ll readjust the toy when that plate isn’t making contact with the penis, so it’s definitely where the majority of the powerful vibrations come from.
That being said, I was impressed by the Pulse Solo Lux’s vibration strength – and the fact that it doesn’t seem to numb the penis. We’ve played with some toys that are very-pleasurable at first, but after 15 minutes of vibrations, it seems to have numbed the penis to further pleasure. The Pulse Solo Lux has yet to do that.
And the power! We’ve been playing with the lower power settings on the Pulse Solo Lux with no real reason to delve into the upper power settings. The lower ones will get him to orgasm within minutes pretty easily. I’ve pushed the “Instant Orgasm” button a few times, and it promises exactly as it states. It instantly jumps to the strongest vibrations the toy can provide on whatever pattern you’re currently using. I’ve only used it a few times during our play sessions as it does what it promises, and it almost ruins his orgasms without permission. If you’re someone who loves a “thumping” sensation and likes having an orgasm-on-demand, the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux delivers on exactly what it promises.
The Wireless Control
This toy is amazing for this. It’s worth keeping in mind that the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux is too bulky to wear out in public. Far too bulky to ever fit under clothing without being obvious. That being said, the Pulse Solo Lux is relegated solely to bedroom use, and it does an amazing job on that. It does *not* work well through walls, but that’s about it. As long as I’m in the same room, the connection is flawless and instant. Doesn’t matter where the remote is. It doesn’t need to be pointed at the toy, it doesn’t need to be near the toy – anything. I can control it from across the room while I’m facing away from the toy, and I can control it when my hands are between my own legs and it has to go through the mattress to reach the toy. We’re talking 99% here. It’s amazing enough that I never doubt that it did exactly what I wanted. No guessing game here. Both the patterns and the intensity (in addition to the power) are fully reliable.
The Watch
Okay, so the “watch band” is a bit cheesy, but it’s surprisingly useful for the way I like to use the toy. It means that the toy is entirely hands-free. Partnered with the toy’s semi hands-free design (discussed later), it means that the toy can be placed on the penis while leaving his hands free to do everything – in addition to leaving my hands free to do everything. All while he’s enjoying himself even more due to the toy that’s wrapped around the penis. The watch straps are nicely adjustable, and they go onto the wrist. I’ve noticed no wireless capability changes when the remote is attached to the wrist. And the little remote control pops out of the wrist band pretty easily if you want to use the remote without the wrist strap.
Connecting Them
The male masturbation vibrator and the remote connect to one another really easily. Just press and hold the vibrator’s power button for 2 seconds. The LEDs behind the lights turn on when the vibrator is on. Once its on, press and hold the remote’s power button for 2 seconds. They instantly connect with no fanfare. The vibrator will pop on to the steady vibration setting as soon as they connect. There’s no way to temporarily “pause” the vibrations without disconnecting the remote control again. Luckily, just press and hold the power button on the remote for two seconds, and the remote disconnects (ending the vibrations). The vibrator stays on until you turn it off on its own, but as long as you press and hold the remote control for two seconds again before the vibrator is turned off, the two connect and you’re instantly back in-business with vibrations. This is the method I use to get vibrations to “pause” when the penis-owner is too close to orgasm.
(This also means that you can 100% run the battery to zero on the penis vibrator if you forget to turn it off. Turning off the remote doesn’t turn off the penis vibrator; you need to take the time to turn off the penis vibe itself. Luckily, both sides of the Pulse Solo Lux has buttons that are LED backlit, so if the lights are on, the toy is on. It makes it easy to figure out whether you turned it off or not.)
Control Structure
This remote-controlled dick sex toy has four simple buttons: pattern change, Turbo (instant Orgasm) button, increase intensity, and decrease intensity. The remote uses a very simple four-quadrant system for these buttons that became second-nature to me within a couple minutes of using it. Good job on that. (If you aren’t into the remote, those things can be controlled via the buttons on the masturbator itself as well)
The patterns are, in order (excuse the music references):
Steady vibrations
Slow pulses (like half notes)
Faster pulses (like quarter notes)
Fastest pulses (like eighteenth notes)
Short-Short-Long
Short, Pause, Short Pause
My *biggest* complaint is the way that the patterns-to-steady-vibration were structured. The easiest way to explain this is through explaining the patterns. Like most toys with patterns, button presses will cycle through the different pattern options. When you reach the end, the pattern options will restart from the beginning. As you can see from above, the Short, Pause, Short, Pause is the end of the pattern order. Which means when you click again, you go straight into the Steady vibrations mode.
This wouldn’t necessarily be an issue except the Steady vibrations mode has a *much* higher “base” vibration level than any other pattern. You can turn down most of the patterns to a very gentle power – like 1/9th of the possible power. For some reason, the baseline of the Steady vibrations is up at a 5/9. It’s a very jarring experience when you were teasing and playing around the 1/9th and 2/9th settings. I usually end up having to double-click over the steady-state vibrations, and it’s come close to ruining our edging sessions a couple of times. It’s a weirdly specific annoyance – but one that makes a difference during play.
Hands-Free Use
We’ve found some luck with hands-free use on the Pulse Solo Lux by Hot Octopuss. It isn’t a perfect science, but while laying down flat with an erection, the vibrator tends to stay in place once it’s situated around the penis. It requires a poke every couple of minutes (as the vibrations do make it travel), but it’s mostly hands-free aside from this poking. It does not, however, stay put nearly as nicely while using it flaccid or while using it in any other position (such as sitting or standing). We’ve been experimenting with hands-free harnesses/underwear/etc. to hold it in place without ever needing to adjust it, but we haven’t solidified that yet.
Charging the Power
The wireless remote control penis vibrator is rechargeable via a magnetic connection with a USB cable. The connection seems to be a little weak at times, and as it’s a round toy, it has, more-than-once, rolled away from the charger and disconnected itself. A stronger charger would have really solved this – and made it so I didn’t need to babysit the magnetic portion.
The remote is not rechargeable. The remote control is powered by a watch battery – a CR2032. It easily switches out without no issues – though we haven’t had to replace it yet.
The Rest of the Info
The Pulse Solo Lux Remote-Control Oscillating Penis Masturbator comes in a basic, thin cardboard box. Within the cardboard box, the masturbation toy is contained in a small cardboard tray that does a pretty good job of protecting the toy during transit. Everything goes back into the cardboard tray with ease, so you can use it for long-term storage of the set without much stress. Just don’t stack anything too heavy on top of the box. It crumples decently easily. The outside of the box clearly displays what is inside the box – and provides some basic info about the Pulse Solo Lux Remote-Controlled Oscillating Penis Masturbator as well.
Cleaning the Pulse Solo Lux Remote-Controlled Oscillating Penis Masturbator is pretty simple as well. Waterproof, this male masturbation vibrator can be splashed as much as you need. Warm water and mild soap cleaning it up decently well – though I definitely recommend taking some extra time along the interior ridging and pulse plate. It’s easy for lube to get stuck there and not cleaned up if you just give it a cursory clean. Otherwise, the toy is pretty texture-less and easy to get clean. Just watch that interior. (And when it comes to lube, make sure you’re using a water-based lube! Silicone-based may destroy the toy.) (Sidenote! The remote control is NOT waterproof, so be very careful what you get the remote near!)
Finally, the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux is the higher-end version of the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Essential version. The Pulse Solo Lux is about $50 more than the Essential version (and it all depends on what store you shop from). The Pulse Solo Lux has a remote control with wrist strap and magnetic charging. The Solo Lux is also equipped with that “Turbo”, instant-orgasm mode while the Essential is not. Those are the largest differences. Otherwise, both toys are waterproof, with the same basic functions, including Pulse Plate technology.
Overall, I’m in love with the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux. It feels like an amazing, hands-free way for my penis-owning submissive to get their own pleasure while they can be occupied with other things (like pleasuring me!). The toy is powerful enough to be orgasmic relatively quickly, and it doesn’t numb him. The softer settings are more like teases while the middle settings turn into orgasmic. While it has a few minor things that annoy me about it, it’s overall a toy that we haven’t stopped playing with since it came in the mail – and that isn’t particularly common in this household. I see this toy becoming a regular part of my power exchange scenes, and I’m really happy about it. Thanks to SheVibe for providing this remote male masturbation sleeve for my Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux review. UPDATE: One Year Later
The Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux still works just like day one. Everything I said in this original review is still true – and this is one of the few penis vibes that we use relatively often. It’s still pleasurable as heck, and I love it. (If you’re looking for a hands-free version, though, you might hit up the Hot Octopuss Jett instead as it straps onto the penis. You’ll likely take an intensity hit – and no more remote control – but if your end-goal is hands-free, the Jett is probably a better option.)
