The Tie Me Up Barbed Wire Vine is a unique barbed wire rope sold by FunWares sex toys. Made from leather, this five foot long rope includes small leather barbs throughout the leather. When not in a barb, the leather is braided to keep the strand of rope strong and to keep it from fraying. The rope is pretty flexible, and it will bend like an average piece of rope would.
The vine comes in some pretty basic packaging – it just comes with a tie around the center of it and a tag hanging off. With such minimal packaging, there’s really no packaging to “store” the vine rope in. It does keep the rope from tangling to anything else until you have a chance to use it, though. If you like how it’s stored, you can easily use a bread tie to tie the rope back up every time you’re done.
The Tie Me Up Barbed Wire Vine, like you can tell, it made to resemble barbed wire. It isn’t actually barbed wire, though. The entire vine is made of leather, so while it definitely has the apperance, it won’t tear holes in your skin. That’s not to say that it’s gentle, though. The leather definitely scratches the skin – especially when tied tightly or wrapped tightly.
With this Barbed Wire rope the way it is, it is pretty difficult to get a knot to stay in the material. Unlike regular rope, this one has little barbs in it already, so it doesn’t tie tight knots. It will tie loose knots, but if you want something to stay, you might want to make sure to tie it in multiple places, and even then, if you have a huge struggler or someone who enjoys trying to get out, be aware that they may be able to. Now if you do the regular, “restraining” ties with regular rope and then add this rope in somewhere to discourage struggling (because the barbs will scratch the skin with movement), now that is a much better game plan.
We do love this rope – a lot. The above scenario I’ve just mentioned works the best for us. Depending on how you do things, what we’ve done so far is, with him on his knees and bound with regular rope in multiple places, I tie this rope around his calves. The knees would be TOO painful (the barbs would go straight into his skin as that’s where he’s supporting his weight), but the calves aren’t holding weight, so the barbs only hurt him when he attempts to move. It’s really a nice discouragement for those that enjoy squirming and attempting to escape, and you can come up with a ton of “mean” uses for this. Just be aware that it doesn’t tie as tightly as regular rope would.
For cleaning, you can use a slightly damp washcloth to wipe it down. Due to the porous aspect of the barbed wire rope partnered with the fact that it’s scratchy and tends to get skin on it, I definitely say this is a fluid-bonded rope only. Better safe than sorry. For storage, having it up in the little folded bow like it came works just fine. Just make sure to keep it away from any soft fabrics or any items with loose threads/tails (such as floggers). The barbs will tend to tangle themselves in whatever they can.
Overall, the Tie Me Up Vine works fantastically if you are wanting something a little more intense than rope. The barbs, while they don’t cut, will scratch the skin and cause a bit more pain than regular rope, and while this doesn’t tie as tightly as regular rope, it works well for threatening types of bondage or even just as a photography prop as well. Thanks to FunWares for providing this barbed wire rope for the Tie Me Up Barbed Wire Vine review.
