The ONO Pleasure Massage Candle is a wax candle that can also be used for massage oil that is sold by FunWares. The candle I received is the French Vanilla and Shea Butter mixture, but a Lemongrass and Red Mandarin type exist as well. ONO is another brand by the same people that make LELO as well. The candle is 4.4 ounces, and it’s meant to moisturize your skin.
The packaging is really pretty. It comes in a black and purple box. The box shows pictures of the candle on it, and the packaging is adult-language-free. It just mentions that the candle is a sensual candle that can easily be rubbed into the skin. The packaging doesn’t mention anything about about it.
The candle looks beautiful. I love the way it looks. The candle does include a lid, and the candle itself is kept in a metal tin. The lid is really purple and has gorgeous designs on the top, and the bottom-half of the tin has a pretty black design on the bottom as well. The lid can easily be replaced after using it, and the bottom of candle is slightly curved to give the bottom of the candle a prettier look. The instructions for the candle are included inside the lid of the candle, and you can keep them outside of the candle after opening this up. The instructions just say to light up the candle, wait until the massage oil melts, and then use it to moisturize the skin. Again, the instructions don’t say anything sexual about the candle, and instead, it portrays the candle as a skin softener.
The candle smells great! The scent is a mixture of French Vanilla and Shea Butter. The vanilla scent is very subtle, and it mostly smells like the shea butter. It actually reminds me of a more sensual-smelling body lotion. The scent itself isn’t arousing, but I wouldn’t say that it’s unsexy. It improves the scent around you without actually being too strong or distracting. I really think it’s a scent that pretty much anyone would like, so I don’t see you and your partner disagreeing about whether or not you want to smell that candle.
The candle is surprisingly dry. I was very surprised as most candles are usually slightly wet or waxy. This one is dry. This actually means that it seems to take less time to melt down, and it goes on much more smoothly and less waxy. We didn’t have any issues with the candle wax feeling waxy after it was applied. However, because it doesn’t have the waxy texture to it, my skin didn’t feel as moisturized as I was expecting it to be. However, it also doesn’t leave my skin feeling waxy at all. It’s almost like putting a melted powder onto your skin – that’s how it feels afterwards. The scent does stay on the skin after you have used the candle, and it stays around for a bit. It won’t last all day, but it does last a couple hours or so.
The candle doesn’t burn too hot either. It definitely could burn you if you pour the wax while the candle is still lit, but if you pour the wax while the candle is blown out, the wax is just lukewarm and feels warm instead of hot. It took us about twenty minutes to get the wax melted down enough to use, and it solidified again after about a minute or so, so make sure to use what you need pretty quickly. Pouring the wax was easy as well. Because of the curved base of the candle, the wax doesn’t grip onto the sides like some other massage candles do. Instead, it does pour off relatively easy. I say “relatively” because the candle still doesn’t have a dedicated pour spout, so it doesn’t pour out quite in a straight line, but think “water in a bowl” as to about how it pours. It’ll be in a long, thin line, but it won’t drip all over the hand that’s holding the candle.
In case you’re curious, here are the ingredients: Glycine soja wax, Butyrospermum parkii, Prnus armeniaca kernel oil, Perfume (benyzl benzoate, vanillin). The candle did not irritate our skin, though, so I don’t think that most people will have any issue with the ingredients. I wouldn’t attempt to use it as a sexual lubricant, though, as it may irritate the more delicate tissue there.
Overall, I like the ONO by LELO Shea Butter Massage Candle. It isn’t as moisturizing as some of the other candles that I’ve used, but at the same time, it doesn’t have any sort of waxy feeling to it. The scent is more subtle than most massage candles, but I like it that way. It’s like understated sexiness. Thanks to FunWares for providing this massage candle for my ONO Shea Butter Massage Candle review.
