The Icicles No. 16 is a glass vibrator made by Pipedream Products and sold by FunWares sex toys. It’s made from Pyrex glass, and it includes a small hole to insert a bullet to make this glass dildo vibrate! The entire purchase includes the glass rabbit dildo, a bullet and its cord, and the remote to control the vibrations. The rabbit includes a g-spot curve while the clitoral portion includes two nubs for extra clitoral stimulation. The glass dildo is about seven inches long, and it has a diameter of about an inch. The bullet has about a half inch diameter.
The packaging for this glass rabbit is perfect. It’s obvious that Pipedream Products put some serious thought into the packaging. The outer box is made from a firm cardboard and even includes a little glass “door” that would allow you to see the product itself before you actually purchased it in-store. Inside of the cardboard box, there is a foam tray. This foam tray fits the glass vibrator, the bullet, and the bullet remote perfectly. There’s a litlte carved-out spot for each one. In fact, I’m about as clumsy as could be these last couple days, and I ended up dropping the box multiple times; no harm to the dildo at all. This foam does an amazing job of protecting your dildo. I will say that I’m a bit disappointed that this doesn’t come with any sort of storage bag for the dildo, though. I love keeping my glass toys in storage bags, but this one does not come with a storage bag.
The neatest thing about this glass toy is that it vibrates. There aren’t many (if any!) other glass rabbit dildos that have the option to be able to vibrate as well. That’s why I had some pretty high hopes for this sex toy. The clitoral portion of the rabbit dildo includes a little hole through the middle, so the bullet is supposed to be inserted there and should stay put to make the entire Icicles Number 16 vibrate.
The remote requires three AAA batteries (not included) to function. This may be a bit of just because of my circumstances, but I wish the manufacturer would have printed the “which way the batteries go” on the case. I had a hard time figuring it out, but it was mostly because one of the batteries I was trying to use was dead, so that set me back into confusion. The batteries are relatively easy to insert, but in order to get the final AAA battery out from the remote, you do have to shake it pretty hard, and I’ve hit myself with the remote before, and it’s not pleasant. Overall, the batteries are decent though. Hint number three: Unless the bullet is plugged in, the remote will not respond – at all. Some remotes will at least turn on their LED light, but this remote remains stoic unless you plug the bullet in.
Now, the bullet is where things went downhill for me. While reviewing it, I started smelling this burning smell. It was more of a “ugh, who burnt something in the apartment building?” When it continued and got more noticable, I stopped with the toy, and I smelled the remote; I’m not sure what in the world is up, but this remote begins to burn when turned on for long periods of time. It has never set itself on fire or anything, and it does get pretty warm after about ten minutes of use. I think this is because it’s defective. I am not, however, going to ask a review sponsor to send me another product, so just in case you end up with a bullet that’s causing this problem, FunWares would exchange the product for you, so you don’t have to worry about ordering it.
However, I’m not too concerned with it. I rarely use the bullet with the rabbit at the same time. The glass rabbit includes a little hole near the clitoral portion where the bullet is supposed to slip through and be inserted in order to give the entire glass rabbit vibrations. However, every time I try it, it vibrates strongly enough that it just vibrates itself right out of the hole! Even after pushing it in hard enough that I hear little cracks, it still does it. I’m not much of a fan of holding my hand right on the bullet the entire time during use so it doesn’t move around, so I just rarely use the bullet in conjunction with the rabbit.
However, it does work a lot better to take your standard vibrator and hold it up to the base of the glass rabbit during use. In fact, if you find the right size, it’ll actually slide into the base pretty easily for easier use. One thing to know: while the vibrations on this bullet aren’t very loud on their own, when touched to glass, they become very, very loud. When attached to the glass rabbit, it could easily be heard outside of a closed door. What I’d really like to see is Pipedream Products make one of these gorgeous Icicles dildos and have the vibrations built into the glass so it doesn’t make quite as much noice. To take the beauty of their Icicles product and add a neat flair to it; that’d be neat.
The bullet, when used by itself, is pretty basic. It’s small enough that it could easily be used between you and a partner during use, but I don’t trust it enough to insert it without a condom in case the bullet comes off. It comes with ten different vibrational patterns. There’s the three average low, medium, high steady vibrations, and then the remaining seven are different patterns that can be used. The vibration level is on the high side of moderate, and when not touching the rabbit, it can be heard in the same room, but it probably could not be heard outside of a closed door.
So what about the glass rabbit itself? It’s an interesting shape; I actually like it. The glass is very rigid and very strong, and it isn’t going to break easily. The insertable portion actually feels really good, and I like the curve that’s on it. However, I didn’t have as much luck with the clitoral portion. I just don’t think my body was curved correctly for this one. During use, the little clitoral nubs poke a bit uncomfortably into my skin, and it doesn’t make for a very pleasurable experience. Since it’s glass, there’s really no way to adjust it either, so this is really a toy that works for you or it doesn’t. The insertable portion was really pleasurable, though, and the ridges on the shaft added a little bit of extra sensation. The hole in the clitoral portion makes it easy to add your own bullet if you have one that fits, or you can just use the little clitoral arms to rub against your clitoris.
When the bullet is in the rabbit, I must say that it doesn’t diffuse vibrations too well. It gives the glass rabbit vibrator a bit of a vibration, but it doesn’t do a very strong one, so the clitoral vibrations end up as more of a tease than anything else. I had more luck using the little clitoral “fingers” on the clitoral portion to rub up against than using vibrations. Along with all of this, the little handlehold on the bottom of the rabbit vibrator makes it even easier to hold onto this dual stimulation toy. Even if your hands are slick, your hands will easily be able to grasp the O-shaped handle at the end of the dildo making it easier to give deeper or stronger thrusts.
Cleaning this toy is really simple. Glass is non-porous, so it can be shared between multiple partners. You just need to use bleach to clean the glass rabbit dildo before using it with another partner. For regular cleaning, you can just use warm water and anti-bacterial soap. This is compatible with all types of lubricant, and it can be stored in the original box very nicely (though I think I’ll purchase a storage pouch for mine).
Overall, I like the Icicles No. 16 glass vibrator, but I don’t think it’s the toy for me. I think it has a lot of potential for someone with a differently-shaped body than mine, but I don’t think this rabbit will ever be one of my main loves. However, I love the idea behind it, and I do hope that we begin to see more glass dildos that have a way to vibrate as well; I love glass material (especially the Icicles line!), and I’d love to see more dildos made from it.
