The Kinklab Adjustable Spreader Bar is a spreader bar that adjusts to the length that you’d like it for use. The spreader bar is manufactured by Kinklab and does come in black and silver. At the shortest length, it’s 25 inches and at the longest is 37 inches. The entire spreader bar is made from metal and has two O-rings on each side. Cuffs do not come with this spreader bar. There are two inches between each adjustment hole which makes it extremely easy to adjust the spreader bar to the exact length you want.
There isn’t really any particular packaging for the spreader bar. It just comes with a small paper tag attached to the spreader bar and that shows the spreader bar in use. The model is Justine Joli who is absolutely gorgeous.
The Spreader Bar adjusts really easily. There are two little metal pegs that pull out and slide in in the little holes on the spreader bar. It’s a bit hard to pull out the pegs, but that makes it so the spreader bar doesn’t lengthen itself when you don’t want it to. The pegs lock in with a slight little push because of a small little button on the peg. Each one of the pegs is attached to a keychain-like ring that makes it easy to pull the pegs out without problem. The cuffs could be attached to the keychain rings, but pulling too hard could pull out the pegs, so I’d recommend against it. However, if there wasn’t going to be any direct pressure on the keychain rings, they’d work okay for bondage points. For the most part though, the only bondage points on this spreader bar are the two ends – the rings in the middle will not hold firm if any tugging is done on then. Since the spreader bar is adjustable, having the lack of bondage points in the middle of the bar shouldn’t be too big of a deal.
The spreader bar does work pretty well for spreading. It’s still a little bit short for us, but then again, I’m attempting to spread a six-foot male’s legs which tends to be longer than the longest setting. However, it does still do a great job of actually allowing the spreading and should work just fine for a variety of people – especially those who are six feet or shorter in height. The O-rings on the sides of the spreader bar are very firmly screwed into the bar itself, and there’s really no chance of them pulling out from the spreader bar during use. You can use cuffs you already have to cuff them up to the spreader bar. The bar does not come with cuffs and is compatible with any type of cuffs you want to connect to it. You do have to provide a middle piece like a double-ended clip to attach the cuffs to the spreader bar though.
Because the keychain rings end up moving around with movement of the spreader bar, the spreader bar does end up being relatively loud. You can definitely hear the clinking of metal on metal. Depending on what you are doing, this could be heard through a closed door, so this isn’t exactly the best idea if you need a discreet spreader bar. The pieces do definitely rub up against each other and make noise. As long as your captive isn’t struggling too much, the noise really isn’t that annoying; it’s only when you shake the spreader bar that it gets more noticeable.
However, the spreader bar does work great for travel – better than most spreader bars. This is because the pegs can be fully removed then the spreader bar comes apart into three foot-long pieces that can easily be stored into a suitcase or something for storage. (Though, again, it is metal, so remember that for airport security or even just remember to keep them from clanging against one another in a suitcase.)
For storage, you just have to bring it down to the smallest size or take it apart into the three parts. It doesn’t take any specific care, but you can easily wipe it down with a damp washcloth if need be.
The Kinklab Adjustable Spreader Bar in Black ends up being one of the best spreader bars I’ve seen. I ended up trying to make a spreader bar with a dowel and some screws when I was younger, but I really enjoy this spreader bar better – plus, it’s adjustable and changes to different positions when I need it. I wish the middle pegs worked for bondage, but just having the two outer eye bolts work for the bondage works too.
