The Single Rose Leather Crop is a cute leather crop sold by Pink Cherry Sex Toys and manufactured by Ruff Doggie Styles. The crop measures a little over two feet in length and is made completely from leather. Along with the crop itself, there’s a little leather hanging strap that hangs off of the bottom of the handle. The handle of the crop is green to made to look like a rose stem while the tip of the crop is actually a bundle of leather put together to make a rose. This rose formation matches the rose formation in Ruff Doggie Style’s Rose Flogger as well.
There isn’t really any specific packaging for this product. There is a small tag that hangs off of the hanging strap that will let you know some of the details of the product as well as the manufacturer, but aside from that, it seems like it is assumed that you should know how to use a crop since you bought one.
Now, I’m sure if I asked, Pink Cherry would end up giving me a refund, but when I had received my crop in the mail, it was bent at about a 45 degree angle from bad packaging. No matter what I’ve tried, I haven’t been able to get it back straight like it’s supposed to be, so no matter what I do, this crop will probably never be one of the crops I ever pull out – just because now it’s really crookedly bent at an awkward angle. Again, I’m sure Pink Cherry would send me another crop if I asked, but they already sent me one for review, and I’d feel bad asking for another. So that’s just something to keep in mind throughout the rest of my review even though it still should be pretty accurate.
All of the leather on this crop seems nice and firm. The leather throughout the stem and the handle is all braided to give it a nice texture. The little hangings strap is held on by some thread tightly wound together on the “stem”. Along the tip of the crop, there are three separate leaves hanging off from the stem – despite frequent use, none of these leaves have fallen off or caused me any sort of problem. At the tip is the rose. The rose itself is made from multiple layers of the leather with some green layers helping hold it together and working as the “petals” of the rose as well. At the very end of the crop, there is a small braided knot to help make it easier to grip onto the handle of this riding crop. I was a bit worried about the rose falling off of the crop, but honestly, that shouldn’t be a worry – it doesn’t even wiggle. It’s going to stay on there for quite a long time.
The handle is really easy to grip onto. Because of the knot at the bottom of the handle, your hand won’t slip off of it very easily. It provides a really comfortable surface to grasp, and I’d imagine that larger and smaller hands would have absolutely no problem grabbing this. It feels comfortable in my hand. It does end up feeling a bit long for a crop (this is definitely a larger crop, not a shorter one), but it still feels comfortable. The crop itself is really light, so you won’t find yourself getting tired out from wielding this which is always a nice benefit.
The biggest problem I had with this is aim. I own another Ruff Doggie Styles crop that is just as long as this one, but that crop is just a lot less flexible which makes it so much easier to aim. When it comes to this crop, I’m always afraid I’m going to miss where I’m hitting which is something I should never be worried about. All of the aiming problem is made worse by the fact that my crop is still bent crooked, so it makes its mark even less of the time. For this reason, I’ve stuck to using this crop on the butt where there is a wide area to strike, but honestly, I can’t see this ever being an amazingly “on-the-mark” crop just because of how flexible it is. It actually is just a bit too flexible to be confident about hitting where you aimed for.
So how does it feel? It depends on where you end up hitting with it. If you end up hitting with just purely the rose tip, it ends up feeling nice and thuddy and isn’t very stingy or painful. However, hitting with just this tip is actually a lot harder than it sounds. Because it’s so flexible and the tip is so small, it’s very hard to hit with just the tip. If you end up hitting with the shaft of the crop as well as the tip, it ends up being stingy and can even be downright painful depending on how hard you were hitting with it. Because of how painful it can be, I usually end up using a very light touch with this crop because I’m afraid I’m going to unintentionally hurt. However, if you can avoid accidentally hitting with the shaft of the crop itself, this toy will never really be stingy – the rose at the top has enough padding on it to make it always thuddy.
For cleaning, you just have to wipe this crop down with a damp washcloth. Don’t use soap – leather doesn’t like most soap. If you want to clean it with soap, there should be some leather soap in your local mass merchandiser store. However, I haven’t seen much of any sort of mess on my crop, so I haven’t been too worried about cleaning it since it can’t be sterilized anyway. Keep this away from bodily fluids and lubricant. For storage, this is intended to be hung up by the hanging strap on the handle, but it can also be stored anywhere else where the riding crop will lay flat.
I like the Ruff Single Rose Leather Crop, but it was just too flexible for comfortable, strong use. It works well enough for soft use, but if I want any sort of sting, I have to switch to another crop that I can better control. Whether this is because of the crop itself or the bend in my crop, I’m not sure, but I know that I do like how this crop looks and how it matches my Rose Flogger by the same company.
