The Key by Jopen Charms vibrator is a small, bullet-like vibrator. It’s about three and a half inches long, and it has a diameter of less than an inch. It’s made from silicone (the pink portion) and plastic (the silver portion). It features five different patterns, and it’s completely waterproof. This discreet vibrator uses 1 AA battery, and it also includes a storage bag for when it’s not in use.

The power button

The packaging for the Charms Lace vibrator is actually pretty nice. This vibrator comes in a cardboard box that clearly shows the vibrator and its features on the packaging. The top portion of the box just slips off, and then you’ll have a box that easily opens up to reveal the Charms Lace vibrator. The vibrator is sitting in a small tray, and this tray lifts up to show the storage bag and the instruction manual underneath the vibrator.

The “Charms” vibrator comes in many different varients. The basic design is this silver, plastic bullet that uses a AA battery. However, depending on what sensation or design you prefer, the silicone sleeve varies depending on which version of the Charms vibrator interests you. If you like a smooth surface, there’s the Velvet version, or if you like more texture there’s the Lace version that I’m reviewing. If you want it to have a slight texture, there’s the Plush version, and if you want a curve at the tip to work on g-spot stimulation, there’s the Charms Curve vibrator. All of these vibrators share the same basic design, but they have different “sleeves” to make them different. At the same time, do be aware that the silicone sleeve *possibly* could be removed, but it really doesn’t look like it was designed to do that. The sleeve is pretty well attached to the underneath plastic portion.

The battery compartment for this vibrator

This small vibrator requires one AA battery. The battery compartment unscrews, and the AA battery slides in. I must admit that the battery compartment is possibly the bane of my existence. It’s bad. It’s frustrating. It’s angering. I’ve tried multiple times to learn to attach it properly since I initially thought it was just a learning curve, but nothing seems to really improve the issue. To get the battery compartment back on, you have to push the cap down in the right area and get a clockwise turn in. For one, that requires finding the right area which is very difficult. For two, that requires getting a clockwise turn in and there isn’t much of the “cap” to hold onto because it’s a small vibrator. Add that to the fact that you’re working against a spring that’s trying to hold the battery in, and it’s a gigantic pain. It’s definitely not possible to do with lubricated hands, and honestly, it’s what I hate the most about this sex toy.

To control this vibrator, though, once you have the battery in, it’s pretty simple. You just press down the button. This will turn on the vibrator. Once it’s on, you just have to press down the button again to scroll through all of the vibration options. To turn off the vibrator, you just have to press and hold down the button at any time for a few seconds; that will turn off the vibrator easily. As far as controls go, the Charms Lace vibrator is extremely easy to control.

The vibrations are “meh”. They are definitely on the buzzy side, and there’s only a single speed for steady vibrations. (As I rarely touch pattern modes, having only a single speed for steady vibrations is a deal-breaker for me) The vibrations are on the softer side (not quite strong enough to be moderate), and I think they’d work for orgasm if you’re very sensitive, but they probably are not going to be enough for orgasm for most. Along with this, the vibrations are not the quietest. They aren’t too loud, but they are enough to be easily heard in the same room. They’d be hard to be heard outside of a closed door with any type of music on, though.

This vibrator is a bit too short to be using for regular insertion, but it could be inserted if you really wanted something. However, as far as texture goes, when used externally, is does add more sensation. You definitely can feel the “lace” texture against the skin, and if you’re not lubricated enough, the rubbing of that texture can be irritating, so just make sure that you avoid too much rubbing until things glide more smoothly. Even when lubricated, though, it has a nice mixture of “texture” and “not too much”, so the texture works out nicely. If you’re a fan of texture, the Charms Lace vibrator could work out pretty well for you.

The packaging

To clean this waterproof vibrator, you don’t have to be too careful about where you get water because of its waterproof abilities. You can just use warm water and antibacterial soap to clean the vibrator. Because of how tightly the silicone sleeve is over topof the plastic bullet underneath, I would say that you don’t really have to worry too much about cleaning underneath the sleeve unless you think you got something under the sleeve. As this vibrator is very slim, though, it will easily fit into a condom in case you want to share it with others. For lubricant, you can use water-based lubricant, but silicone-based isn’t recommended as it could bother the silicone material of the vibrator. For storage, this silicone vibrator comes with a storage bag, so you can just store it in the storage bag.

Overall, I can’t say that I’d recommend the “Charms Lace” vibrator to most people. The vibrations aren’t too strong while the battery compartment is beyond frustrating. However, if you are more sensitive to vibrations and think that the design and shape will work for you, you could check out the Charms Lace vibrator. I must admit to liking the other vibrators in the Jopen Key line much more than this Charms Lace vibrator, though.
