UPDATE: APRIL 2020: The Love Kandy line has been continued (including this vibrator). This review remains as a reference for those who want information.
The Renew, a vibrator that’s a part of the Love Candy by Kendra line of sex toys, is a silicone rabbit vibrator. The Renew is produced by Evolved, and it is rechargeable. Available in a black or purple color, this rabbit vibrator is eight inches long with a diameter of over an inch in the insertable shaft. The control panel for this vibrator is also made form a plastic material. The Renew rabbit vibrator is also entirely waterproof.
The packaging for the Renew vibrator is surprisingly awesome. The Love Candy by Kendra Renew rabbit vibrator comes in a strong, faux-leather storage box. This box is very firm, and it easily could handle other boxes being placed on top of it. Inside this box (which seals via a magnetic clasp), there are two trays. The top tray holds the vibrator. Underneath the vibrator, the bottom tray holds the charging cable, the wall adapter, the wall plug-in, and the magnetic charging portion. The instructions are included on a slipcover that goes outside the box. This box is amazingly excellent for storage, but as a warning, it is about twice the size of the rabbit vibrator itself, so it does take up some room.
The design of the Renew rabbit vibrator is surprisingly small. In fact, I think it just looks larger in the pictures than it actually is. It’s definitely a surprise when I opened it up and it looked much smaller than I expected. The majority of the length is in the shaft/clitoral portion while the button/control area is surprisingly smaller and shorter than I expected. The entire vibrator is made from silicone. This is the type of silicone that’s relatively draggy and does require external lubricant to make it comfortable. Your hands don’t really glide over the silicone, but it does make for more friction if that’s the type of sensation you enjoy. The clitoral arm does have some flexibility to it, but be forewarned that it doesn’t have a ton of flexibility. It’ll flex a little bit, but it still has a clampy-type sensation to it, so it’ll definitely be applying pressure to the clitoris no matter how you use it; it’s not like those floppy types of clitoral arms.
As previously mentioned, this vibrator is rechargeable. It’s rechargeable in a slightly-more-complicated way than most rabbit vibrators are. The vibrator charges via the USB cable. However, in case you want to use the wall outlet, the Renew rabbit vibrator also includes an easily-assemble wall outlet adapter (for the US). So if you want to charge the vibrator through the wall outlet, it has four parts: the wall adapter, the wall plug-in, the cord itself, and the magnetic charger area. As a note, the Renew vibrator does charge magnetically through the two buttons that control the vibrator. The initial charge will take about 8 hours for the vibrator to fully charge. After that initial charge, it will take the vibrator about 3 hours to recharge and will run from 1 1/2 to 3 hours on a full charge.
The Renew rabbit vibrator has a flashing blue light that continually flashes until the vibrator is done charging. It holds blue once the vibrator is done. I find the flashing to be extremely annoying. I can’t imagine why they chose to make this annoying flashing. Especially if you’re someone who tends to charge their sex toys and electronics within sight of yourself (all of my charging happens on my work desk), the flashing light gets annoying and slightly headache-inducing. I covered it with a washcloth, to be honest.
Along with that, the charger is not 100% stable. It doesn’t take much to knock it off from charging the vibrator. In fact, just placing the vibrator at a weird angle pretty easily will knock the charger off. Once you get it set up in a good place, you’ll be good to go, but it does take a bit of finagling to get the charger to sit exactly where it’s supposed to be. Depending on how much you jostle or move the area where your vibrator charges, this could be an issue.
Once you have it all charged up and ready to go, this vibrator has two buttons that control it. There’s a dedicated on/off button as well as a button that purely cycles through the patterns and vibration settings. The buttons are backlit which makes them easy to find in the dark, and they aren’t TOO hard to press. They can be a bit of a pain to press down if you have lubricated hands, but normally it’s not too bad.
The vibrations for the Renew vibrator are alright. They aren’t too strong. They’re pretty buzzy, and they’re definitely on the side of “moderate”. Depending on your body and anatomy, they may not be strong enough for you. I’d say that some women are going to be able to orgasm from the vibrations, but I’m not sure most women will be able to. The vibrations do feel nice, but they just aren’t strong enough. The vibrations aren’t too loud, but they definitely can be heard in the same room. Depending on how much noise and how thin your walls are, they could possibly be heard outside of a closed door as well.
You really can’t control the vibrations of the clitoral portion separately from the vibrations of the shaft. This means that, if you have it turned to a pattern in the shaft, you’ll be feeling that same pattern in the clitoral arm. This isn’t a huge deal, but it really depends on how you enjoy your rabbit vibrators. If you like to leave the shaft unvibrating while you vibrate the clitoral portion, you won’t be able to manage that. As for the vibrations themselves, it seems a bit like there are two separate motors – and if there aren’t, the vibrations do a pretty good job of transferring through both the shaft and the clitoral arm.
During use, I have to admit that I wish the control panel/holding area had more length. I think if the vibrator had an extra half-inch or inch or so that separated the control panel form the insertable portion, the Love Candy by Kendra vibrator would definitely benefit. As it stands right now, Evolved did a fantastic job of including a good, extreme curve at the base that makes it really, really easy to grip onto and hold onto the toy while thrusting it. The curve also makes for lovely leverae. At the same time, though, because of how little space there is between the control panel and the shaft, my hands always get lubricated and messy from the extra lubricant that was placed onto the shaft. I must admit that I’m not particularly fond of that.
When you want to clean your purple silicone rabbit vibrator, you don’t have to be too careful as this sex toy is completely waterproof. You can use warm water and antibacterial soap, and that will clean up this vibrator just fine. When it comes to sharing, you could possibly sterilize this vibrator with a bleach/water solution, but you’d have to be careful about it. This purple vibrator is only compatible with water-based lubricant, and when it comes to storage, the original box is amazing for it. If that doesn’t work, make sure to have storage of some sort as the silicone of the Renew rabbit vibrator does tend to pick up a lot of hair and lint.
Overall, the Renew vibrator isn’t a bad choice, but I’m not saying it’s going to be a good choice for everyone either. I think the price point is a bit high, and you can get more interactive rabbit vibrators at a similar price. So I wouldn’t recommend this to everyone. But if you know softer vibrations are okay by you and you know that you’ll be okay with a “one-button controls” everything set-up, the Renew rabbit vibrator isn’t a bad choice, either.
