The silicone bit gag

While Jor and I have actually found our perfect silicone ball gag, we thought it was about time to try out a bit gag. Plus, we have been talking about trying some pony play training, and it’d be nice to start collecting some of the equipment that we would need to play. When Twisted-Miss offered to let me review this bit gag, I was quite excited about it.

The silicone bit gag is a regular bit gag made by the manufacturer Spartacus. The head strap is made from a softened leather while the bit gag itself is made from a silicone/rubber mix. The silicone bit gag piece is about four inches long, but only a little less than three inches for your mouth to go on. It isn’t very big in girth with less than an inch in diameter. The rings on each side of the bit gag have a diameter of about an inch. The entire thing goes on by using a regular buckle (non-locking) on the back of the gag – just like a regular pants belt.

Packaging

The packaging is made from minimal amounts of plastic. It’s decorated very tastefully without any naked men or women on it. In fact, the front of the packaging only closes up on a girl’s face with the bit gag in her mouth. The product boasts nickle hardware and an adjustable buckle closure as well. It also includes their website to visit for more information.

This bit gag seems to be pretty well made. The rings do have obvious places where they’ve been cut, but I pulled on them, and the ring didn’t pull apart in the slightest. I think they may have glued/welded it back shut. The silicone bit gag piece is firmly attached to the rings just through an open hole cut in the side. However, there is enough material around the hole that tearing should never be an issue. The cowhide leather is extremely firm, and it doesn’t seem like it will be tearing – even with all of the pulling I did on it.

Size comparison. It does come in that plastic wrap. I didn’t take it off before the picture.

Some annoyance with how it was made: The leather strap that goes through the buckle is just barely slightly bigger then the buckle. It doesn’t make problems with any performance issues, but it does produce a bit of “drag” when pulling it through the buckle which could prove to be unexpected. I’m sure that, with use, the extra bit of leather will just get rubbed off so it won’t be an issue.

This gag should fit basically every sized head. My boyfriend has a larger-than-average sized head, and it still fits him pretty comfortably. It appears, to the best of my math abilities, to have a diameter of about seven or eight inches at its maximum size. It goes in to a much smaller size as well – must smaller than what the average head would be.

The bit gag is a great alternative to a ball gag if you’ve found that ball gags are uncomfortable for you to use. If the large ball makes your jaw hurt or if you just find ball gags painful. The boyfriend reports that the silicone bit is extremely comfortable to use. Because it doesn’t have large pieces to it, it doesn’t hold your jaw open like a ball gag would. It is, however, wider than a ball gag, so it will be pressing along on the edges of your mouth.

Buckle

The boyfriend reports no discomfort from using this bit gag. Like all gags, you will drool after having it in for awhile, but it’s more controllable than with a ball gag. He says that the rings don’t grind against his cheeks like some bit gags do. He says that the silicone is pliable in his mouth, so it doesn’t hurt his teeth to bump against it in the slightest. In fact, he says it helps to be able to bite down on the soft silicone to help alleviate any pain play that is going on. (None of the teeth marks seem to show in the silicone either, but he may not be biting too roughly.) In fact, the silicone bit gag can be bent to about a curved moon-shape and the silicone doesn’t tear or show any wear.

Being gagged can be a fun activity. It allows for you to be silent without a say while things are done to you. However, if this is something you are doing with a partner, please remember to agree upon some sort of “safe action” before you begin – something like dropping some keys out of your hands just to mean that you are in pain and want out. It can be difficult to decipher something like that while you can’t speak. Also, if you have any jaw problems, you may want to play with a softer gag (like a scarf) before attempting this. As a final point, don’t leave a gag in for more than thirty minutes unless you are an experienced player.

Overall, if you are looking for a gagging experience without all of the pain of a regular gag, this silicone bit gag could be the perfect toy for you.
