Checkmates the Bishop Vibrator Review

Checkmates the Bishop Vibrator

UPDATE: APRIL 2020: Checkmates: The Bishop Vibrator is no longer in production – though Evolved Novelties is still around and going strong. This review remains for those who need to reference information about this plastic vibrator.

The Checkmates the Bishop vibrator is a small plastic and discreet vibrator designed by Evolved Novelties. It is waterproof, body-safe, includes multiple speeds, and has a satin-smooth plastic coating. It requires one AAA battery for use, and it is about five and a half inches long with a diameter of about an inch.

The packaging for the Checkmates The Bishop vibrator is exactly what I’ve come to expect from Evolved. It’s really cute, holds the vibrator well, and will work well for gift-giving if you’d like. Like all Evolved packaging, it does display the vibrator clearly, though, so it is not the most discreet packaging that is out there. It does look cute, though, and it holds the vibrator safely through moving around and storage.

The design of the Checkmates the Bishop is a pretty good design. The vibrator is completely made of this nice, smooth plastic, and there really aren’t any seams on it. The rounded end of the base makes this vibrator really easy to hold in your hands, and the smooth plastic makes it really easy to clean. The control for the vibrator is also located at the base of the toy (twist dial of the base of the vibrator), and the vibrator includes ridges and bulges throughout the shaft of the vibrator.

The Checkmates the Bishop Vibrator requires a single AAA battery for usage. The base of the vibrator unscrews to allow you to insert the AAA battery. The battery slides it pretty easily through the base, and the cap screws back on pretty easily. Make sure to screw the cap on tightly if you want to use the Checkmates the Bishop for its waterproof abilities.

As it only takes a AAA battery for use, you can imagine that the vibrations aren’t the strongest out there, and they honestly aren’t. They are on the softer side, and the highest setting equals out to be about the same setting that “low” is on most vibrators. It is pretty quiet, though, and it’s hard to hear it with my heater going on, so it definitely can not be heard outside of a closed door. The vibrations are slightly on the buzzy side, but the vibrations are also centered in the tip of the toy which does help with getting more stimulation from them.

The packaging for the Checkmates the Bishop Vibrator

The Checkmates the Bishop vibrator seems to be best, for me, as an external vibrator. The shorter length means that it just doesn’t feel very satisfying when used internally because the length doesn’t give you much to “use” which can also make handling it a bit awkward. Externally, though, the bulged texture tends to glide up against the skin for a unique sensation that can definitely be pleasurable. The vibrations aren’t enough for orgasm, though, so it ends up feeling more like a tease than anything else.

A downside that I did find annoying was that, as the controller for the vibrations via the turn-dial base on the vibrator, the base was completely smooth and texture-less. While this definitely makes it look prettier while looking at the vibrator, when your hands are attempting to turn the dial while lubricated, it can be difficult. You don’t have to worry about it if your hands don’t get slick or you normally keep a towel around to wipe down your hands after use, but this is definitely something you’ll want to keep in mind.

To clean the Checkmates the Bishop vibrator, it doesn’t take much effort. As long as the battery compartment is screwed on tightly, the Checkmates the Bishop vibrator is actually waterproof which means that it’s easy to wipe down and clean. You just want to use warm water and antibacterial soap. If you’d like, the vibrator is small enough to fit into a condom for easy clean-up and multiple-partner use. It’s compatible with all types of lubricant, and as it’s plastic, it can easily be stored anywhere without any concerns.

Overall, the Checkmates the Bishop vibrator has beautiful packaging, an okay design, and a good material, but in the end, it really does just need stronger vibrations. If you are seeking a vibrator for a tease or a vibrator that is very quiet, the Checkmates the Bishop might work for you, but if you need power, this little guy doesn’t quite have the “oomph”. Thanks to Evolved Novelties for providing this Evolved vibrator for the Checkmates the Bishop Vibrator review. If you’d like, you can purchase the Checkmates the Bishop vibrator at EdenFantasys.
