The 10-Function Flexi Risque Probe is a battery-operated anal probe produced by California Exotics. The probe is powered by three AAA batteries, it is body-safe, and it is waterproof as well. The head and base of the toy are plastic while the shaft of the toy is made from rubber which makes it flexible. The toy is about four inches tall and, at the widest point, is an inch and a half in diameter.

The packaging for this probe is pretty basic. It comes in regular plastic, clamshell packaging that displays the toy clearly through the see-through packaging. The packaging is larger than the toy itself, so it may not work as suitable storage. As it is pretty basic packaging, you can easily throw it away after you take out the toy. The packaging does tell about the different features of the toy though.

The flexibility of the probe

This probe has a very interesting design. I actually think I like it. See, with most butt plugs and anal toys, they stick with a sleek design or a flared base that seems to be mostly meant for pushing it in with hands or a smaller base meant for discreet use. The Flexi Risque seems to have a larger base that is meant to hold up and sit well as a way to “push” against it. Along with that, while the tip of the butt plug is all made from plastic, the neck of the plug is made from a rubber material. This allows the toy to curve really nicely with your body, and it never gives that uncomfortable, plastic feeling while, since the head is plastic, still allowing the vibrations to go through the material of the toy really, really well. It ends up being a good combination. For those that are curious, the base of the toy is also made of plastic.

When I saw this little vibrator, though, the first thing I thought of was ‘iRide”. This toy seems to have a base that seems like it was mostly meant for someone to sit on top of it and “ride” it instead of laying on their back or using it as a probe. From experience, I can tell you that the base is certainly too large to use this as a plug. It doesn’t fit comfortably enough with the butt to make that a good possibility. It can be used as a regular anal toy that can be used dildo-like, but because of the large bulb and small neck, this does not comfortable insert and reinsert. You can jiggle it though really nicely. So for us, it looks like the best usage is to sit on it and then “ride” it. Many anal toys don’t have the base or the ability to do that, so I must say that this certainly makes the toy stand out as unique.

The vibrator is controlled by three AAA batteries. The battery compartment is located at the base of the toy. The battery compartment can definitely be a pain to open as it is flush with the rest of the base and really has no way to “grip” it. There’s no way you can open this when it is lubricated. For best results, use the palm of your hand and twist the vibrator’s base off in order to insert the batteries. The batteries then insert very nicely into the base, and you can screw the cap back on.

How the batteries go in

As you could probably guess, the vibration control for the vibrator is located on the base as well. It is, however, underneath the toy. This means that, if you are sitting on it to thrust up against it (like I think it is designed for), you do have to stop what you’re doing and pick yourself (and the toy!) up in order to change the vibration settings. At the same time, the button is actually located in a little “hole” in the base of the toy, so as long as you’re on a flat surface, the button does not push itself and change patterns. That’s a nice feature. The vibrator has ten different speed functions and patterns, and pressing the button on the base of the toy will cycle through them. To turn it off, you can just hold down the button for two seconds. Aside from having to rearrange if you’re thrusting up/riding the toy in order to change settings, it seems to work really well with the button placement here. The base was probably wide enough to allow for the buttons to be placed on one of the sides, though, so I do wonder if they’d change that for the future.

How the button is indented on the base

We’ve only used this little anal vibrator on carpet. Because the base is made of plastic and probably not intended to hold up your full weight, I wouldn’t use this toy on hardwood floors. For us, he sits on the toy itself with the base resting on the ground and can grind up against it – much like a hands-free vibrator that some companies make. Again, we do it on carpet as it helps “pad” the surface, and I wouldn’t recommend placing your full weight on this if you are using it on hardwood floor.

So how well does it work? It’s a pleasurable toy – that’s for sure. The flexible neck makes it work really nicely with his body – even if he usually hates plastic toys. Instead, the flexible neck does allow it to bend in a way to be comfortable. He can’t use this as a plug or really as a thrusting dildo, but if you sit on the toy and just rock against it, he says that it definitely feels pleasurable. The vibrations are really, really strong in this toy (compared to other anal toys), but you can use the lower settings if you don’t like stronger settings. The only downside that he mentioned was the fact that the neck of the toy is so drastically small compared to the head of the toy. This leads to a bit of discomfort when you remove the toy after use. It’s just such a large “jump” from the neck of the shaft to the actual head of the plug. It’s pleasurable, and while the head is a bit large for insertion, it will insert. However, jumping “back” from the size when removing it can be a bit of a shock.

The packaging for the toy

The size itself isn’t really meant for beginners. It’s not huge, but it’s not small either. If you’ve had some anal experience, you can probably work out to this one without too much issue. I wouldn’t recommend it to those who want their first anal toy though.

To clean this plug, you just want to use warm water and antibacterial soap. You should take particular care with the base to avoid getting water in it, but the toy itself should be waterproof, so I wouldn’t worry about it quite as much. You can use a condom to cover toy if you want to use it for multiple partners. It’s compatible with all types of lubricant.

Overall, we like the Flexi-Risque, but making the widest point of the plug a little less wide would have made it more comfortable for removal. The idea of the wide, powerful base adds an interesting component to this anal toy, and the flexible neck means that it won’t “poke” at you uncomfortably. The vibrations are pretty darn strong, but they also a bit loud. They can be heard in the same room and most likely through a closed door as well. As long as you don’t have to be discreet and have some anal experience, this plug makes a good choice if you like strong vibrations.
