ONO Cleo Review

ONO Cleo
The Cleo

The Ono Cleo is a silicone, rideable vibrator that is made by Ono and sold by FunWares. It comes in purple, red, or orange, and it’s made from FDA approved materials which are all body-safe. This vibrator is waterproof, and it also includes a suction cup for extra suction. The vibrator uses three AA batteries which are not included with the sex toy. ONO is actually made by the same company that makes LELO toys, so I must say that my expectations were high.

The packaging for this is pretty basic, but it is cute. The box is a plain black box with pictures of the vibrator and the vibrator’s features on the outside of the box. The box also includes instructions on how to use the vibrator, and this box is a bit thin of cardboard, so it probably won’t hold up to long-term storage of the Ono Cleo. It is a pretty cute box, though, so it is definitely suitable for gift-giving. This also comes with a one-year limited warranty, so you can feel safe when purchasing this vibrator as well.

The Ono Cleo is a unique vibrator in the fact that it isn’t your average vibrator. In fact, it was never really meant to be “held” during use. This vibrator was meant to be a vibrator that could be ridden – much like The Cone vibrator. It’s supposed to be large enough to fit between your legs and allow you to rub up against it. It’s not quite as rigid or pointed as the cone, though, because it’s slightly plushy silicone and has softer, curved aspects to it rather than the point of The Cone. Along with all of this, the Ono Cleo is actually waterproof, so you can use this vibrator in the shower or bath!

So how does it compare to LELO toys? It’s interesting. It shares the same type of silicone as the LELO toys – that soft, silky silicone. However, unlike every LELO toy that has ever been made, the Cleo actually uses batteries. This was probably to make the vibrator waterproof (this was before LELO’s Insignia line) and maybe just to bring down the price of this vibrator a little bit. I would say that it doesn’t have quite the same luxurious feel as most LELO toys, but it also doesn’t have the same pricetag either. It still is a good quality toy though.

The Ono Cleo also comes with a double-sided suction cup. This suction cup can definitely be VERY useful. It’s surprisingly strong. One side of the vibrator suctions onto one side of the suction cup while the opposide side suctions onto any flat surface. Both sides suction surprisingly well, and I thought the vibrator would actually slide off the suction cup. Surprisingly, it does not. It actually stays suctioned on really nicely, and you can push up against it without it sliding off. The opposide side suctions just as nicely. It suctions perfectly to flat, untextured surfaces that are at least about four square inches. If you have small tiles on the bathtub, it might not work as well, but if you have larger tiles, it works pretty nicely on the counter space, the glass desk, and the shower wall and bathtub floor that I tried it on. It doesn’t work nearly as well if a surface is slick though, so make sure to attach it BEFORE you get the surface wet. Along with that, for easy removal, Ono included two little “pull tabs” which make it easy to break the suction and remove the toy with no issue once you’re ready.

The Ono Cleo takes three AA batteries for use. It does not come with these batteries. The batteries don’t seem to get eaten up too quickly either as I haven’t had to replace them yet. The instruction manual says that you should get about 5 hours of use from one set of batteries. The batteries are interested to insert. The very bottom of the Cleo vibrator unscrews. It’s pretty easy to insert the batteries, and the battery compartment comes with a little ribbon to make removing the batteries very easy as well.

I was surprised by how this was controlled. I was definitely expecting it to turn itself on once the batteries were inserted, but surprisingly, there’s actually controls on the vibrator! The little “O”‘s of the vibrator are actually the plus and minus button for the vibration control! It’s really cute, and it’s really neat. However, for me, I thought the raised end was infinitely more pleasurable when pointing towards the front, and unfortunately, the controls are located along the lowered end which made the controls pretty impossible to get to during use. I just made sure to set the vibration setting before I went in for use, but for someone that likes to switch mid-play, you may have to find a different want to use it or maybe you’ll just enjoy the lower end towards the front.

The base, the suction cup, and the vibrator itself

The vibrations are pretty easy to control. + makes it stronger while – makes it weaker. Once you’ve turned it all the way on high, you can hold down the + button for a couple seconds to turn the vibrator into the patterns mode which you can then flip through. The vibrator seems to have eight steady vibration levels, and it does have another eight different patterns as well. The vibrator can also be locked for travel by pressing both buttons at once, but since this is battery operated, you might want to take the batteries out instead just to be on the safe side.

The vibrations themselves are okay. They’re probably on the higher side of moderate, but they are definitely moderate. They’re stronger than most smaller, buzzier toys, but they aren’t stronger than some of the stronger battery-operated toys on the market. If moderate sounds like a good strength for you, you’ll do great with this toy, but the vibrations just weren’t strong enough for me. The vibrations aren’t too loud, but they definitely can be heard in the same room. You MIGHT be able to hear them through a closed door, but it really depends on how thick the walls are. It could easily be masked with a blanket. If using in the bathroom, the tiled walls would probably amplify it, and someone would probably know what’s up.

So how well did it work? It really depends on the position you like to masturbate in. This obviously will not work well for a doggy-style position for grinding just as your body will be way too far off the ground. You could prop the vibrator onto a pillow if you wanted to do it that way. However, the biggest issue that we had was *finding* those positions. You can lay down on top of it for stimulation, but for me, that was very, very uncomfortable. I thought it might be my weight, but I had the boyfriend try, and he said that (while uncomfortable on his penis), it also was uncomfortably pressing into his pubic area too, so he didn’t think that weight was the issue with that position.

However, the best position we, surprisingly, found was to use it up against a wall. The suction cup suctions to the wall, and you can press your pubic area right against the vibration of the vibrator. It requires a bit of fine-tuning to make it work, but if you enjoy standing-up orgasms, this could definitely work. I couldn’t use it upright for long (as I’ve never been one for pleasure that way), but if you normally do, this could definitely work. On the plus-side, you could have from-behind sex at the same time though you might want to be careful about doing it too rough to avoid pushing the vibrator off the wall.

Can you use this like a regular vibrator? Yes, but it’s definitely not an easy task. Because of the sheerly large size, it almost takes two hands just to use it while laying on your back or while using it like a regular vibrator. This is because the large base is just so large. It will work as a regular vibrator if you are willing to use both hands on it though – otherwise, it really is just too difficult to hold with a single hand to be able to use it like a regular vibrator. I found that I did like it quite a bit when just sitting on the ground and putting it between my legs and holding it there. That worked well, but it wasn’t really “rideable”.

Cleaning this vibrator is easy as it’s silicone and waterproof. You can just use warm water and antibacterial soap to clean up the Cleo. It’s only compatible with water-based lubricants, and I highly recommend keeping this a one-person toy as it’d be difficult to sterilize. For storage, it doesn’t pick up lint or fuzzies, so you can keep it wherever you’d like. I tossed the original box as it doesn’t hold up well for storage, but I am keeping the vibrator in a plastic bag for safekeeping.

Overall, if you have a position in mind for the Cleo before you purchase it, it’s definitely worth purchasing. However, this vibrator can definitely be a bit difficult to worth with and finding positions that will work with it. In order to do some of the better positions, it just needed to be taller to work with my body and avoid making the positions too awkward. Thanks to FunWares for sending me this stimulator for my ONO Cleo review.
