Devine Toy Lace Box Review

Front of the box

UPDATE MAY 2020: Devine is no longer in production – and neither is this toybox. This review remains as a reference for those who want more information about this sex toy storage method.

I absolutely love sex toy storage. Since it’s only my boyfriend and I that live in this little apartment, secrecy isn’t usually too large of an issue, but the black/red one matches our bedding, and I’m just generally fond of storage containers – even if I ridiculously don’t need them.

The Devine Toy Lace Box is nine and a half inches long and 5 inches wide and deep. The lid of the case is a nice, red satin-like material that must be covering some sort of fluffy since the lid is actually plushy to the touch. It’s also covered by some black lace which makes the red look even more sensual. Although you can’t see it on the product’s pictures, the “cover” material and look continues on to the back half the box where the lid is attached. The box itself is black on both the inside and the outside. The inside is lined with some sort of nice black fabric that looks somewhat water-resistant. From what I can tell, it looks like it is satin. The outside of the box is covered with a soft, fake leather. Either way, it appears that it would probably hold up well to getting some sort of water on it as long as you cleaned it up right away – I don’t think it’d be happy about having the water/lube left there.

Inside of the Devine Lace Toy Box. Notice that it’s black inside instead of red.

The locking device on the front is interesting. The little circle part of the lock just folds down or up depending on if you want it open or closed. If you want to lock it, you leave the little silver circle out and just clasp the lock onto it. If you want to just close it without the lock, the silver circle will just lie down flat against the case. When the silver circle lock-part is out, you can just pull the lid off of it and then the lid will fold back to let you get into the case.

There’s a little string that attaches to both sides of the lid and the inside box to keep the lid in an upright manner when the box is opened. It’s just a regular, everyday string, so it may not last. If it does come off, a little hot glue or super glue would make it good as new. No instructions on this little guy. Just a tag that gives the website address to find the rest of the manufacturer’s products. It also didn’t appear to have any scent when first receiving it.

From what I can tell (and from what I’ve stored in it) it doesn’t look like this case will be leaking colors into your toys. I’ve had no problems with any of the toys that have been stored in the box as of yet, and I’ve had it a couple weeks, so it looks like it’s probably safe to go ahead and just keep your toys in here without bags.

Hitachi = Does not fit. Poor Hitachi. :(

The lock and key that come with it are inside the box when you open it up – the box does not come locked. Nothing too exciting about this little lock and key – they appear to work just fine after I’ve used it multiple times. The size of them is amazing though – it makes me feel like I’m playing with those little Polly Pocket dolls that used to actually fit in your pocket. If you were in the hurry, it might be a pain to have to get the keys and unlock this lock because of its small size. However, it does appear like it would keep someone out – not if they really wanted to get in, but it would easily keep out a small child or a mother-in-law. (If someone really wanted to, it could easily be forced open – but the original owner would know about it, so most anyone who would actually look wouldn’t when there’s a lock and key on it.)

This is the lone travel-size IRubMyDuckie bondage duckie. And he’s sad. Because he’s alone in the depths of the box. But it’s roomy! :) (But really, I think this is the kind of sensory deprivation Bondage Duckie would enjoy.)

Personally, I won’t be keeping the lock and key on it, and if you enjoy using lube before you reach for a sex toy, I’d recommend you either unlock this in advance or don’t lock it. This would be a pain to get unlocked while covered in lubricant. If the lock and key are something that really interest you, throw away the lock and key that come with it and get a new cheap set at your local retailer – this is not something you’d want the key breaking and losing your toys, and the lock and key are not the highest quality.

This box is of a decent size. It will not fit the Hitachi, but it will fit most other smaller toys. Any toy up to nine inches will fit just fine into this, and as long as they aren’t reacting materials, you could easily stack one toy on top of another. It will easily fit any bottle of lube sitting up, so if you wanted (and had lots of lube) you could just turn this into lubricant and condom storage – it’s really up to how you want to use it. I’m probably going to be using this as my “strap-on” center with my Joque Harness and other dildos that will go with it in here.

All of my vibrators fit into it. I think there ended up being ten plus a couple bottles of lubricant.

The inside of this toy box should never see any sort of soaking. Satin does not respond well to being damp for long periods of time. If you want to give it a nice rub down (and believe me, it wants it too. ;) ), go ahead and get a washcloth very slightly damp and just rub the box down then follow it by rubbing all of the excess moisture off with a dry washcloth. If you have any lubes that you know ending up leaking, keep those in a plastic baggie unless you want to possibly ruin your box if the lube sits there too long. Satin also hates high temperatures, so keep it away from anywhere where the temperature might be high – such as in front of a window.

I would recommend the DevineToy’s Lace Box to anyone that is looking for attractive sex toy storage at a great price. It’s a beautiful little box and strong as well. I keep ending up tossing my school textbook on top of it, and it can easily handle it. It has room to fit most of your average-sized toys, and with all of the different color options available, you can easily find something that you will enjoy looking at.
