Showing the egg and remote

The Red Remote Control Egg from MyPleasure Sex Toys is a remote and egg set that is wireless and intended to work from a distance to control the egg’s vibration levels. Both pieces are made from smooth plastic, and the remote is about two and a half inches long while the bullet is about three inches long. (I have a habit of using bullet/egg interchangeably just for your information.) The egg is also about an inch and a fourth in diameter. The set runs on batteries. There isn’t really any specific packaging aside from the pretty, red giftwrap that MyPleasure wraps all of their toys in.

Putting in the batteries is easy for the Red Remote Control Egg. The egg takes two AAA batteries, and the remote takes one N battery. Both are included in a separate plastic baggie. The remote has a slide-back like a TV remote that allows you to insert the batteries. The bullet’s top unscrews to allow you to insert the batteries. It’s actually a bit odd since the battery’s holes are actually on the lid of the bullet instead of in the body of the bullet. It doesn’t effect usage though. As far as I can tell, leaving the batteries in the remote doesn’t seem to kill them. I had an issue with batteries dying in the egg though, so you should remote both sets of bullets after use just to be safe.

I’m actually really fond of this remote. I mean, really fond. The remote has an LED-back-lit screen that gives you a lot of information that makes this invaluable for partnered play. Other remotes for these types of toys usually just provide a light or something like that. Instead, this one has this backlit display that lets you know exactly what’s going on. The backlit display shows whether the remote is sending out signals, what level the vibrations are on (01 through 10) and what that pattern is. The patterns are shown by little braille-looking dots that are arranged in certain orders to signify the patterns. They aren’t very intuitive, but after you’ve played around with it for a bit, you can figure out what each one means.

The remote is actually really easy to use as well. It fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, and there’s a cute little heart on the bottom of the controller. There’s an “on/off” button as well as a + and – button to control the vibrations in the egg. An odd thing about the remote is that, when you turn it on, it started off at level 0 which is no vibrations at all. You have to hit the + button to turn on the vibrations. I feel like it’s odd that it doesn’t automatically start the vibrations.

The egg itself is pretty basic. It’s a lot bigger than your average bullet. In fact, it’s about the size of a small butt plug in length. This really is too large to fit inside panties for external stimulation. It’s just too large to not make an awkward bulge in your panties. However, it can easily be used vaginally for stimulation since it’s large enough to be felt and be pleasurable. The string on the end, while it could be used for retrieval, seems to be a reception point for the wireless transmissions, so it probably wouldn’t be good to be too rough with it. It’s nice and flexible, though, so you won’t be scratched from it, and it slides easily into panties and won’t make a bulge. Because of the nice, smooth plastic, the egg inserts really easily with minimal amounts of lubrication. It’s filling without being too stretching.

The range of the egg and remote is pretty decent. Externally, we got all the way across our apartment with it still (pretty much) responding to commands. It responded just fine through a wall to our secondary bedroom, but when it came to responding through two walls (bedroom and closet wall), it wouldn’t respond. Our apartment’s length is probably about 30 feet away, so it ends up working really nicely. When inserted, the length goes drastically down (through clothing as well) to about ten feet. So if you’re using it around your house in just your lingerie, expect 30 feet, but if you are using it in public with clothing, about ten feet is what to expect. Within about four feet, the remote is pretty much fail-proof. It always turns things on, always turns it off, and always changes the vibration patterns. Once you get outside that range, it still ends up working with a majority of the commands, but once in awhile, the command chooses not to work. This seems to be most common when telling the remote to turn off which could lead to some awkward moments.

The vibration levels are pretty nice. There are ten different levels of vibration with three levels of steady vibration and 7 different patterns. The vibrations aren’t buzzy, but they aren’t rumbly either. They’re nicely in the middle. The vibrations are moderate in strength – even on the highest setting. They are probably not enough to get most women off – especially vaginally – but they are definitely enough to make a good tease. Clitorally, if you are sensitive, this could get you to orgasm, but if you require strength, it won’t.

The noise is a bit of a concern. It’s a bit loud for being something to be used in public. The lowest setting blends in as long as there’s background noise, but the highest setting is still pretty easy to hear. It fades into the background if it’s been on the same setting for awhile, but at the same time, if you change the settings, it becomes noticable again. I’d say that it’d be hard to use the highest settings on the bullet in public. Even during a movie, the vibrations would be audible during some of the less loud portions of a movie which may end up being awkward. However, if you find a place away from others to sit, it may still work out for you.

Cleaning the set is pretty easy. You can just use warm water and antibacterial soap. Do not use water near the remote though. If you have to, wipe it down with a slightly damp washcloth. It’s not waterproof, but the bullet is supposed to be. I didn’t test the claim of waterproof-ness. It’s compatible with any type of lubricant, and for storage, they don’t pick up lint, so you can store them wherever you’d like. However, do remember to take the batteries out after use.

I like this set. I wouldn’t call it perfect, but it’s still a good vibrator. You’ll have to be a bit careful about using it in public due to the noise, but it seems to be decent on batteries, and the vibrations are strong enough to be pleasurable. Plus, the remote does a great job of transferring the commands. If you are looking for a discreet, remote-controlled toy for couple’s play, the Red Remote Control Egg is a good choice. Thanks to MyPleasure for providing this vibrator for review.
