The Handcrafted Leather Bit Gag is a Sinvation-manufactured leather gag. The gag includes black leather and metal for the O-rings. The buckle is a locking buckle. The mouthpiece is about five inches long. This one is adjustable from about thirteen inches to twenty-one inches in circumference. The gag does not come with any sort of particular packaging. It comes in a little plastic, resealable bag that can be used for long-term storage. The gag also comes with a little tag on the buckle that states that it’s from Sinvention.
I’ve been looking at other gags since the ball gag we currently love isn’t working as amazingly for us. We both love the gag that we own (Silicone Ball Gag here on EF), but the boyfriend is currently plagued with a never-ending cough and sniffles, so using a ball gag like that ends up making him more uncomfortable than sexual-feeling. For that reason, I wanted a gag that, while feeling like a gag, would end up being a lot easier for him to breathe around. We own another silicone bit gag, but that one is also a bit large for someone to attempt to breathe around. Having a small bit portion was important, so that’s how I ended up settling on the Handcrafted Leather Bit Gag.
Along with those reasons listed above, this Bit Gag is intended to look like it’s a pony-play gag, so if that’s a fetish, this gag works well. Reigns can easily be attached to the two o-rings on the sides of the gag. This gag can also be used if your partner has difficulty opening their mouth wide enough to fit ball gags inside. If your partner dislikes the feeling of something large like a ball gag in their mouth, this bit gag also works really nicely.
The buckle works well on this gag. You can easily slip the locking buckle into the holes on the gag with no issue. Make sure that your partner isn’t sick or anything like that if you are looking to lock it onto them. When someone is sick, you need an easy way to take the gag off, and locking it on is not an “easy way”. If your partner has a small head, this will end up with a lot of extra slack on it, but there’s a nicely-included square piece of leather that holds the slack to the gag. The leather is stiff, and it can be a bit awkward to buckle the first couple times until the leather starts to soften with use.
The bit portion is actually comfortable in his mouth. It does stretch long enough to rub against the sides of his lips, but as long as this is something that you aren’t doing daily, it doesn’t seem to chap the lips at all. It keeps the mouth held open without the feeling of a large ball gag inside. You will deal with quite a bit of drooling, but it’s a lot easier to breathe with this bit gag than with a ball gag. If you have a cold or allergies, switching to a bit gag instead of a ball gag means you can still continue your gagging habits. (See warning below.) The leather isn’t softened in the gag, so you don’t have to worry about bits of leather going into your mouth. It feels like sturdy, well-sewn leather that, while you can bite into it, isn’t soft and fluffy either.
This gag will not completely stop speech. It is possible to speak around the gag which makes sense since you also can breathe around the gag as well. The gag is pretty tasteless as well. You know you’re tasting leather, but it doesn’t have much of a taste at all. It kinda reminds me of eating Kix. That cereal felt like I wasn’t eating, and it was pretty awkward.
The inside of the gag does have a folded-over piece of leather along with a rivet. This piece doesn’t appear to be completely aligned with the outside pieces of the gag, so they do end up rubbing up against the cheek a little irritatingly. It’s nothing that any other gag would be able to fix, but it’s worth a mention. Along with this, the bit gag itself can get to be painful up against the corners of the mouth after about a half-hour or so. It really depends on what you’re doing. Some activities distract your mind more than others. This means that, while the gag works great, it’s not something you’re going to want to have in your mouth all day.
While I mention using your gags while sick, please be responsible about it. You should *never* do it without having intimate knowledge of your partner because it’s so easy to have difficulty breathing with a gag in. If a person has a cold, they usually rely on their mouth to breathe, and if you take that away with a gag, they have nothing reliable, so please be sensible. Always set up a non-vocal safe word (like jingling keys) to make sure your partner can communicate a problem. Never lock a gag on a sick person’s head. Ever.
This can be cleaned by wiping it down with warm water. Leather doesn’t really like soap, and leather cleaner would taste disgusting. We just wipe it down with warm water. As such, you really can’t “share” this with others unless you are fluid-bonded or are aware of the risks. It just shares the same risks as kissing another partner. For storage, we are keeping ours in the original resealable baggie. It’s worth knowing that you should always store it when it’s completely dry. Storing wet leather could ruin it.
Overall? The Handcrafted Leather Bit Gag is a high-quality leather gag that functions really nicely compared to our ball gags. It works really great when you have a sick submissive on your hands, and we’ve used it when has a cold. Some of the other bit gags work just as well, but this one is tasteless, smaller, and it’s easier to breathe around.
