Hitachi Magic Wand Review

My boyfriend’s hand holding the Hitachi. See how large it is.

Marketed as a massager, but known as one of the best female sex toys on the market, the Hitachi Magic Wand packs amazing power.

The Hitachi Magic Wand is a foot long. The head is about two and a half inches in diameter, and the head of it is about two inches long as well. It comes in a pretty basic white and blue color. Around the middle of the head of the vibrator is a little indentation that goes around the entire head. It is separated from the wand itself by a one-inch little blue shaft. The handle of the Hitachi itself is pretty large – I find that my fingers barely touch around its girth.

The Hitachi came in a box that does look 90s-ish. It’s a pure white box that just shows women using the Hitachi on their backs and arms. It looks completely vanilla and looking at the box, you could never guess most women’s “secret” love for this toy.

This is actually my first toy that plugs into the wall. The Hitachi comes with a cord that plugs it directly into your nearest outlet. This having been said: Keep it AWAY from water. Worst plan ever: Taking the Hitachi into the bath with you. It’s just plain dangerous. Don’t do it. The cord itself is six feet long, so you can easily take this one around a room pretty comfortably. It’s powered by 110-120 volts and because of it, probably has the strongest vibrations I’ve ever felt with a vibrator before. Mind you, this toy is only to be used in United States outlets, and using it with a converted for another country does void the warranty.

I never knew that the Hitachi only had two speed settings. It has a switch that goes from “low” to “high”. The neutral setting will turn off your vibrator. That having been said, don’t expect its vibrations to be like anything you’ve ever felt before. The “low” will feel like your other vibrator’s “high” and the “high” is mind-blowing. I’ve never met nor heard of another toy that can match the Hitachi’s “high”.

Size of Hitachi next to a soda can.

The vibrations are pretty intensely loud, though. Don’t expect to sneak this one to a trip to your parent’s house or anywhere where people are nearby. This intense powerhouse of a vibrator could easily be heard through a closed door without any problem. The vibrations themselves are centered only in the head of the Hitachi which is a nice change from other vibrators. Unless your hand is on the head of the sex toy, you will barely be able to feel the vibrations which will keep your hand from getting numb.

I found the Hitachi to cover a lot more area that I’m used to with a lot of my vibrators. I’m used to a small, cylindrical area, and the Hitachi is anything but that. Its head is squishy and user-friendly, and it’s just very intense. I’m sure it’s going to be my go-to sex toy for when I’m craving strong vibrations. It’s only meant for external use, so keep it away from doing anything vaginally or anally.

The great thing about the Hitachi is that it’s a couple toy too. You could start off your foreplay by using this as the body massager it was intended to be. Believe me, it works just as amazingly when put onto sore muscles. My boyfriend and I had a great time just massaging each other with the Hitachi as well. Then when you’re ready to get down to the sexual fun, you could use the Hitachi in a fun, more-erotic manner.

The switch for the Hitachi. Left is “High”, right is “Low”.

The Hitachi is made out of plastic, so it is non-porous. This toy can be sterilized and shared if you choose to. However, the design of the Hitachi makes it difficult to ever completely sterilized, so if you plan on sharing, please just throw a condom on it. To clean it, go ahead and use warm water and some antibacterial soap. Watch out that you don’t get it near the cord of the toy, though. The Hitachi should be compatible with silicone and water-based lubricant, but keep it away from the electric parts.
