Desire Massage Oil Candle Review

The outside of the candle

The Shunga Desire Massage Oil Candle is a product in which the massage oil has been turned into a candle-like state that can be burnt down to return to the oil-like form. This Shunga Massage Oil Candle includes seven ounces of massage oil. The massage oil comes in a metal tin can that can withstand the flame and has a metal lid as well. The can shows a Eastern-esque drawing of a couple entwined. It also comes with a little plastic spoon that can help drizzle the massage oil over your partner once its in its liquid state. The Desire Massage Oil Candle is produced by Shunga and is sold by Pink Cherry Sex Toys.

The instructions of the candle say to light it for twenty minutes (or longer) then extinguish the flame and pour the wax into your own palm to massage your partner with it. I chose to skip the “palm” step, and after the flame has been extinguished, it works just fine to pour the oil straight onto your partner’s back. If they find it a little too warm, just hold the candle farther away from their body – the farther you hold it from their body, the more cool the wax is going to be. If you are going to be pouring the wax onto your palm or your partner’s back, do make sure that the flame is extinguished. It can honestly be really hot if you don’t put out the flame first. After use, you are supposed to trim the wick down to 1/4 inches for the best results the next time you use the candle. The candle is soft enough that you can just scoop the oil straight out without lighting it, but that wouldn’t be fun, now would it?

Just so you know, the ingredients are: Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Nucifera Oil, Fragrance, Prunus Dulcis Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius Oil, Persa Americana Oil, Sesamum Indicum Oil, Vitis Vinifera Oil, Tocopherol. Most of that, from my own knowldge, is pretty body-safe stuff.

So what did I think of the scent? Well, I got the vanilla Shunga candle, and honestly, it’s quite orgasmic. Really, the scent just smells so sensual, and it smells just like vanilla – even if it isn’t lit yet. Once it’s lit, the scent seems to flow throughout the room it’s in and really just feels sensual and relaxing. The scent of the vanilla is probably my favorite part of this candle. It’s not too overpowering, but it’s there, and it makes its presence known.

This is definitely a slow-melting candle. Because of that, I’d recommend lighting it before you want to start the action or letting the candle burn in the background as you talk or cuddle with each other. It does take about that full twenty minutes to get enough wax to be able to use the candle.

We enjoyed being able to pour it on. I found that it does cool back into the somewhat-soft candle within minutes, so it works best to pour it all on at once or pour it on pretty quickly but in short spurts. Once on, it does feel really great. It massages the skin, lets your hands glide over the skin, and just feels downright sensual – especially with the scent involved. It doesn’t feel greasy, but the only problem we had was that it actually started to feel a little waxy after we were done. While other massage oils seem to absorb into the body and don’t require a shower, this one seems to leave a thin layer of “wax” on the skin, so it works best to gently clean the area with a washcloth after use to get rid of the wax. However, the scent does seem to last on the skin for a couple hours after the massage which smelled amazing on my hands after giving the massage.

After you’re done with your massage, you can go ahead and let the candle sit, then trim the wick so it’s down at a 1/4 of an inch for best results next time. We didn’t use much of the wax for our massage, so I’d say that this will definitely last about twenty or more uses – if used liberally. If well-taken care of including trimming the wick and everything, you can get quite a few uses out of it.

Really, I actually loved this massage candle. I loved the scent the most, but the oil did work well for giving a massage. It doesn’t have the pouring spout like some other massage candles do, but the amount of massage oil that was included more than made up for it. We had a great time, had a great massage out of it, and it led for some fun, romantic closeness.
