I was really excited when I received this paddle through the mail from a great adult toy store – Tabutoys. I’d always wanted to have a paddle and especially one that would leave imprints. While I’m very impressed with the paddle itself, I was a little saddened by the fact that it barely leaves imprints. This, however, may have something to do with the person I was using it on.
First off, this paddle is a little over a foot long and made out of genuine leather. The actual paddle portion (the part that says “love”) is about two inches while the handle is a little over one inch. It is built for durability, and you can see that it was two pieces of leather that were sewed together nicely at the length of the handle to keep it together. The “Sportsheets” logo is lightly etched into the handle of the paddle. The black “love” portion of the paddle is seperate from the back, plain leather portion of the back. The red that shows through with the letters is just a red piece of paper, but as much as I’ve been trying it out the last couple days, it hasn’t fallen out yet. It appears to be sewn in like the rest of
the product. The end of the paddle has a nylon string on the end along with a metal ring fit into the leather of the paddle that includes the Sportsheets logo.
Because of the two different pieces of leather that make up this paddle, it is more likely (and rightfully) classified as a slapper. Paddles are just one piece that you can hit against someone. Slappers are two seperate pieces, sewn together at the handle that you can hit someone with. Because of the two pieces, a slapper is actually very well known for making noise because the back piece hits against the front piece on impact. That having been said, this toy is very loud. If you actually give it a good swing, it can definitely be heard through doors. I live in an apartment building, and I’m a little afraid of the neighbors hearing it
As for whether it prints or not, I really can’t give a definitive answer. It might, but my boyfriend is a 130 pound, 6 foot tall male, so you can imagine that he has no fat much of anywhere on his body. For someone with more body fat (usually a female), it would most likely leave marks, but it would take a very hard swing to do so. I could see the faint imprint of the word on him, but it didn’t stay more than a few seconds in his reddened skin. It does take a really hard swing to even get the imprints, though, so if your partner doesn’t enjoy pain, this probably isn’t a toy for you. My boyfriend even flinches when he hears it although he says it doesn’t hurt too badly. (We’re also into BDSM, so he’s used to a lot worse.)
From a top’s point of view, the handle isn’t too uncomfortable to hold. It slightly curves along the top of paddle handle, and it fits pretty nicely into my hand. I’m sure it would fit even better to a male because they would have larger hands than I do.
My boyfriend says it is comfortable to hold, so I would imagine it works well for males.
It also works well as just a regular paddle. You could use it lightly on the skin without much harm being done. If you’re afraid that the text might hurt someone who isn’t into pain, I recommend using the back side which is just a completely plain black leather side.
In conclusion, it is a great paddle/slapper, but you do have to hit very hard for it to leave the imprint. This may not be your case because my boyfriend is just really skinny without much fat. If you want a paddle that will leave them a little scared because of the noise, this a great paddle.
