Wet Synergy bottles

NOTICE: Wet Synergy has been discontinued by the manufacturer. This review is being left up for reference for anyone seeking info on these old lubes. – February 2019.

Wet Synergy is one of the newest ideas – a hybrid lubricant between water-based and silicone-based produced from Wet Lubricants. I received a sample awhile ago from Wet Lubricants, and while I’ve taken awhile to write this review, I think it needs to be written – Wet Synergy is a great product.

Wet Synergy comes in two varieties – the original variety and the cool tingle. I have the 1.9 oz versions of both bottles. As stated before, the Wet Synergy is a hybrid lubricant between water and silicone – something very rarely done. Both versions are condom-friendly and hypoallergenic. I’m sure someone is allergic to one of the ingredients in here somewhere, but it isn’t anything that would be classified as a common allergy, so the vast majority of people can feel safe using Wet Synergy without worry.

The packaging for the Synergy is really what made me fall in love. Most packaging for sex lubricants is usually as discreet as possible with minimal colors and what looks like “adult friendly” packaging that makes it look mature. But the Synergy? None of that! It’s great. Both bottles have a black bottle with a Press-Down top to release the lubricant. If you look closely, the tops of the bottles actually have sparkles in them. FREAKIN’ SPARKLES. Man, I was excited. The blue bottle includes a blue gradient going up the side of the bottle while the regular version includes a pink/purple gradient. In one word – the packaging is amazing.

Now, I was most interested in the Cooling lubricant of the pair. (The blue one) Cooling sensations usually feel amazing. But when I opened it? Oh god – it was peppermint. Now, little known fact, but the smell of peppermint is just downright disgusting to me. So future testing of the cooling lubricant was done by the boyfriend’s hands, away from me, and by another trusted couple.

Back of the bottles

What was reported? Well, for one, it comes out of the bottle pretty perfectly. It’s thicker than the consistency of water, but not horribly slow. It comes out exactly how they wanted it too without going too fast or too slow. Upon leaving the bottle, it definitely spreads the peppermint smell, but they claim it isn’t a horrible smell – it doesn’t feel fake or “shoved” on at all – it’s almost like it improves the mood of what already is gone on. It’s not overwhelming, and they claim it’s actually a nice scent. They claim that within five minutes, they couldn’t smell the peppermint anymore. But within that five minutes, they say the lubricant is still there.

What was reported is that the cooling lubricant goes on almost like silk, and even a little of this lubricant will go a long way. They said one time they went a bit overboard, and it actually reduced the pleasure of sex, so they recommend going a little under and adding more if you need it instead of going overboard. They say that, once you get the perfect amount, it adds the perfect amount of glide to sex without getting in the way of the pleasurable friction. It will last about ten minutes of constant friction before another reapplication which is pretty good for a lubricant that is part silicone.

So did it tingle? They report it only tingles in large amounts. When Jor played with it with his hands, it didn’t actually tingle at all which he found was odd. However, with the couple played with it, they reported that it tingled quite a bit. I can only assume that having it in large doses and around private parts is what makes the tingling sensation. The couple reported that the tingling was pleasurable and not painful.

How was the non-cooling Wet Lubricant? I’m happy to report that everything that the other couple reported was true for it. It felt amazingly silky and lasted forever – just like a regular silicone lube. It feels gorgeous, luxurious, and doesn’t seem to get sticky – even after use. If it starts to dry it, it still doesn’t get sticky. It’s almost like it just starts to go away and get absorbed by the skin. The original Synergy doesn’t seem to have any sort of scent to it, and I’m extremely fond of this hybrid lube. I think this is going to be my go-to lube very quickly here – especially since it seems to work with high-quality silicone.

So how was clean-up with these lubricants? It’s great. It has the silk-like touch of silicone without the freakin’ “Holy crap will this ever go away?” feeling afterward. It actually cleans up pretty nicely with some warm water and drying your hands with a washcloth. After trying out some of the original on my hands, it went away without water with just some wiping off of the lubricant on a towel every couple minutes without any complaint. It doesn’t have that ever-lasting feel like silicone does – not the good kind, but the bad kind that makes you swear if you spill the silicone bottle. This Wet lubricant actually cleans up nicely. When we used the non-tingling one, I didn’t wash it off afterwards, and it didn’t bother or feel slimy at all. I was pleasantly surprised.

Wet Synergy
OMFG: It’s the same size as a candy bar.

However, even after the majority comes off, unless you rinse off your hands another time, there will still be a slight residue of the lubricant left. It’s nothing major, and honestly, you don’t notice unless it’s on your hands because those are so sensitive to touch.

Neither of the hybrid lubricants appear to leave any sort of stain on material/sheets which means you don’t have to be quite so worried about making a mess with the lubricant. However, once your hand is covered in this lube, it might be a bit difficult to re-open the 1.9 oz bottle since it doesn’t have any handles or shape to it. Just something to keep in mind.

So now the big question: Does this hybrid lubricant work with silicone sex toys? From my experience, yes. I’ve only tried it on high-quality silicone toys though. Like the original Wet silicone lubricant, the Synergy seems to do just fine with Tantus and Fun Factory silicone. Multiple spot tests have confirmed this. However, if you are wishing to use this on your own low-quality silicone toy, do your own spot test on the base of the dildo and check to see if the silicone gets “gummy” or “tacky”. I know Wet has tested the hybrid on silicone toys, and they report their tests have shown it’s compatible too, so I’m not too concerned.

So am I happy with it? God yes. It retains the properties of silicone lubricant while being relatively easy to clean and can be used with silicone toys. Sounds like heaven to me honestly. If you want to try it for yourself, you can always get a free sample of Wet Synergy. If you are ready to jump in with the big purchase, this adult toy store sells Wet Synergy, so go purchase the Wet Synergy or the Wet Synergy Cool Tingle in both 1.9 oz. However, the website also sells them both in the bigger 7 oz Wet Synergy.
