Still one of the most “useless things nobody ever needed but wanted because it’s so neat”, the Moist Lube Dispenser seems to be (rightfully) discontinued. Still, this sex toy review shall live on. – April 2019.
The Moist Lube Dispenser is one of the cutest “sex toys” that I’ve ever seen before. It’s actually a Moist Lubricant dispenser, but it’s shaped like a water cooler for some fun giggles. I’ve shown this to multiple people, and all of them say it’s downright neat, and they want one by their bedside. I know a couple have already purchased one and are extremely happy with the purchase. I have to say that I’m extremely happy with my Lubricant Dispenser too.
The Moist Lube Dispenser is a dispenser manufactured by Pipedream Products. The dispenser is a full foot tall and three inches wide and deep, and made completely of plastic. The lubricant “tub” at the top is replacable with another “tub”, so you don’t have to re-buy the product every time you run out of lubricant. It’s actually pretty stable at its base, and you’ll find that it won’t be tipping over too often as long as you don’t bump it over. If you bump it, it’ll tip, but just slight uses/shaking won’t make it fall.
The packaging this unique lubricant dispenser comes in is neat. It actually comes in a plastic covering that covers the entire dispenser. It’s pretty minimal packaging when you consider it, and I honestly don’t think there’s any need to use it for storage, so we threw it out after we received it.
The dispenser itself is actually just as easy to dispense as a regular water cooler would be. You just press down on the button on the spout and the lubricant will come out. I wouldn’t call it “amazingly” fast, but it’s relatively quick. You won’t have to hold down the button forever. It stays upright while you pour it into your hand, and I find that press it with one hand and using the other hand for lubricant seems to work well.
Now, this isn’t amazingly heavy, but it is pretty hefty. I mean, when you think about it, you have 21 fluid ounces of lubricant in this, so it’ll be a little heavy when you compare it to a bottle of lubricant. For that reason, I highly recommend AGAINST taking this on road trips. If you like Moist lubricant a lot, just purchase a smaller bottle for travel purposes.
I also wouldn’t call this discreet. If you have children or relatives and need to hide it, this isn’t going to work. It’s just too big – despite how awesome it is. This is more targeted for those who live as a couple, those who embrace and flaunt their sexuality, or someone who just uses lubricant enough to want to avoid having to deal with the bottles.
So, how exactly does this all work? The bottle of the lubricant just sits on top of the dispenser with the lid off. There isn’t anything to screw it in, so if you tip this upside down, it’s going to spill. For that reason, I’d make sure this is up against a wall or something stable and not something you’ll knock off in the middle of the night. From there, the lubricant is going to drain into the lube chamber to await your use. When you push down on the button, it will drain the lubricant for you. Underneath the place where it drains is a neat little “trap” that will trap and keep all of the “fallen” lube into a dish that’s easy to clean out later.
Because of where the lubricant sits if you aren’t using it, I’d recommend using something like this if lubricant is a constant thing in your life. (Daily or at least once a week) I’ve honestly never left lubricant to sit, but I can’t imagine it’s amazingly good for it after a certain period of time. However, during the two weeks we used it, the lubricant seems fine and we only use it about once a week. If you aren’t going to be using it, turn it upside down over the sink, re-cap the bottle of lubricant, and clean out the dispenser to put it into storage or for it to just sit until a time when you’ll need it more.
While I’m mostly reviewing the dispenser, I’m sure you guys are curious about how the lubricant works, huh? Well, Moist is Pipedream’s brand of water-based lubricant. Since it’s water-based, that means that it’s compatible with all types of toys, usually easy to wash up, and safe for use with condoms. So how well does Moist lubricant compare to my current favorite, Hydra Smooth?
It works decently well for the price it costs. It spreads out in an area pretty nicely and actually lubricates quite well and for a long period of time. However, it does get sticky after awhile, so new lubricant will need to be added after that point. It lasts for about fifteen minutes before it gets sticky which honestly – I don’t usually have a need for lubricant for more than fifteen minutes at a time, so it works well for the two of us during sex.
It’s not a good one for oral sex though. It doesn’t taste yummy or anything which makes me pretty sad. However, I doubt this regular Moist was intended for ingestion, so it’s not a good one to use if you plan on doing oral after the main event. However, Moist does make a cherry-flavored lubricant, and I can’t vouch for the taste, but I’m sure it will taste better than this one.
Moist doesn’t seem to leave any stains on the sheets though which is nice. Some silicone lubricants can stain the sheets, and since we use black sheets, I’m always worried about it. Moist lubricant goes on without any problem and doesn’t stain.
Afterwards, cleaning up can be a pain. Unlike most water-based lubricants that just seem to go away, this lube seems to just want to stay around and be sticky. This means that you will actually have to wash it off. While this isn’t much of a problem since some soap and water washes it off, I wish I could be lazy and lounge around like I do with other water-based lubes.
Since this is water-based lubricant, you can just wash it off with some soap and water if you find that your dispenser is getting a little too slippery for your tastes. For long-term storage, I will be keeping it in a plastic bag – just in case. It’d be very disappointing to find out that being stored on its side for long-term causes it to leak – though I don’t have any reason to believe it would leak at this point.
Overall, it’s neat. The lubricant works well aside from reapplication and clean-up, and the dispenser itself doesn’t seem to leak or do anything but just be useful. If you are a sex toy addict or just love lubricated sex, it’s absolutely perfect since it makes applying lubricant extremely easy. Plus, I think it’s such a unique addition to our bedroom that will cause some interesting conversation topics when new guests come over.
