OhNut Wearable Penetration Buffer Rings Review

Designed to provide a soft “stopping point” to reduce too-deep penetration, the OhNut Intimate Wearable Penetration Buffer Rings is a set of four rings that can be added or subtracted to achieve the perfect depth.

The OhNut penetration buffers are made from FDA-approved body-safe and skin-safe polymer blend. The blend is BPA-free, phthalate-free, and latex-free.

The OhNut rings stretch out about 8″ at the maximum (more than enough to use them for most things!), and all four rings stand about 2.75″ in height – for a reduction in length of about 2.75″ uncompressed or 2.35″ or so while compressed. Each one of the individual rings is about 0.6″ in height with the ring alone while the “linking” material adds a little bit of extra height as well.

The OhNut penis shortening sex toy comes in a very friendly package. The sturdy box that holds the sex toy has very friendly, non-assuming packaging. It’s sturdy enough to keep the rings safe for long-term storage. The rings themselves come in a plastic tray that was designed for them within the box, but they live just fine without their tray. If you aren’t into keeping boxes and prefer to recycle it, the rings also come with a drawstring bag for long-term storage as well.

Solving an issue I hadn’t really thought about (but is very real – even in my own sex life), the OhNut Penetration Length Shorteners effectively reduce the length of a penetrating object – whether that’s a human penis, a dildo, or anything else. This allows the penetrating partner to push in and enjoy themselves to their heart’s content without the worry that the penetration will go too deep and harm the receiving partner. This can be especially important when one partner is very well-endowed and loves the idea of rough sex – or if pegging or other activities where the penetrating partner may not be able to “feel” when they hit up against solid areas. The OhNut rings may also be particularly helpful for those who are easily hurt by penetration that goes too deeply.

The OhNut sex toy has a pretty basic design. When you purchase the OhNut rings, you’ll receive four rings. These four rings can be used individually, or if you need “more” buffering, each one of the rings gently links into the other to keep them all sturdy and in one place.

If you need even *more* buffering past that point, you can unlink all of the rings and add about an extra 0.75″ to the buffer zone that the OhNut rings create since their edges will not overlap.

This modular design allows you to infinitely adjust the OhNut sex buffer sex toy to exactly the length you need. While a sex position with lots of space may only need one of the OhNut buffers, a really deep position might require all four. It’s entirely up to you and how you want to use them.

Each one of the four rings is made from a polymer blend, and it’s a nice, thin, stretchy type of material. It’s probably better than silicone in this case as silicone wouldn’t have the same stretchy capabilities. They aren’t particularly rigid or thick – which allows them to bend nicely as necessary to keep you comfortable while also being stretchy enough to be easy to slip on. They don’t have much of a smell or taste to them. They’re just pretty much inoffensive and helpful rings that can be slipped onto anything that’s cylindrical – including fingers as well.

The OhNuts have shined SO beautifully for us during pegging purposes. Certainly, one of the benefits of strapping on a dick is the ability to switch it out for a dick of different proportions. However, he really likes wide toys (which generally come with longer lengths) but doesn’t like deep penetration, and I like strapping on really long toys for visual purposes.

Between those two, we’ve had more than once when he’s had to stop us during a pegging session because I’m just too damn deep inside and it’s hurting him. I mean, I certainly can’t *feel* a dildo that I’m strapping onto myself, so the reality of hitting up against internal tissue and having no idea? Well, that’s a reality.

The OhNuts have helped dramatically with this. To the point where, when my submissive saw the box laying out, he was downright excited to give them a try. I don’t typically know when I hit the ouchy-spots, so having a barrier between me and hurting him seemed perfect.

And honestly, in practice, they are. We slip them onto the dildo we’re using after we put the condom on, and we haven’t had any ouchy incidents since we started using them. They’re useful enough that I’ve pulled out some of the longer dildos I own that I’m always scared to use on him – and they went seamlessly as well. It’s really helpful for me to be able to “feel” like I’m all the way in while the OhNut penis shorteners help make sure that I’m not actually in far enough to cause him any pain. I don’t want to say that they’re life-changing because that might be a bit of a stretch, but they’re VERY sex-improving. To the point where we’ve made sure we know where we keep them at all times.

We mostly use the OhNuts for pegging purposes instead of intercourse purposes. (He’s into small penis humiliation, so this 100% needs a small dick joke, but I’m not going to go into it). The point is, we don’t generally have any issue with too-deep penetration during penis-in-vagina intercourse. For the sake of reviewing, though, we gave it a try twice. I was mostly curious about two things: how would it change his sensations and would it be comfortable on us both?

On both accounts, it worked a-okay. He says it barely feels the sensation of the OhNuts. They’re much looser than cock rings with really no squeeze. So it didn’t impact his experience all that much (outside of not being able to penetrate as deeply).

I didn’t notice much of a difference either – aside from the shallower penetration. It didn’t seem to impact the feeling of “skin on skin” much at all, and it certainly wasn’t sticky or annoying when it pressed up against me during sex. It honestly was like an invisible part of sex – doing its job without getting in the way at all.

The rings slide onto fingers with no stretching involved, and they also slide on average-sized penises with no problems. We’ve had no issue using them on our Large-sized Bad Dragon toys (toy diameters around 2.5″ to 4″, but I’m not sure I’d want to stretch them out much further than that – if only because they become less effective as the material stretches further and flattens because of the stretching). So you have a nice, wide range of useful stretching sizes that’ll work for almost everybody out there.

(Also, for science, they DO go around a wrist and forearm. A bit tight, but workable. You might want to use two because the rings lose some of their thickness when stretched to their limits. But if you had that fisting scene and didn’t want someone going past a certain point, well, these can be great markers.)

As for the logistics during use, the OhNut Intimate Wearable Penetration Buffers are pretty simple to use. Each one of the buffers stretches out decently easily, but I’d recommend making it a two-handed application. You’ll be able to manage it with one if you’re really dedicated, but two will keep one of the buffers from accidentally “snapping” onto your parts.

I’d highly recommend “assembling” the rings’ thickness before you put the set onto yourself. Getting them fully “linked” together when it’s already on a penis is a lot harder than getting them linked beforehand. When already assembled beforehand, you just stretch them as a cohesive unit – and it works much better. Expect to do some minor adjustments to the “linking” aspect when you get them into place, but it’s generally fixed in a couple of seconds. (medium-length fingernails really helps with minor adjustments on these rings while they’re lubricated. Too long of nails and it’s aggravating, and too short and it’s really slippery. Just an FYI)

Speaking of lubricant, I highly recommend using a lil’ bit of lube if using the rings on any sensitive body parts. Getting them onto the fingers? Yeah, you don’t really need lube. But if you’re going to stretch them onto a biological penis? I’d recommend the lube. These rings, like any cock ring, can snag pubic hair without lube, and that’s no fun. If you’re pubic-hair-free, though, you may not need the lube as long as you do a good job of keeping the rings nice and stretched out so they don’t “grip” the skin as you slide it down the shaft.

I was a bit worried that the rings would compress down entirely when under pressure, but they surprisingly don’t. They hold their own. They have a slight bit of compression to avoid any pain from pushing into them, but they don’t compress into nothingness. It’d say it’s a very slight compression (maybe 20% or less) unless you’re intentionally trying to squish them down. With just the press of hips during penetration, it seems to stay around that 20% mark.

Cleaning the OhNut Wearable Penetration Buffers is really easy. The manufacturer recommends a mild soap and some warm water. I’d highly recommend dropping the rings into a soapy bath to ensure you get everything cleaned out from the internal parts of the ring. It’s a decently easy clean, they dry up easily, and they don’t tend to attract too much hair or lint. They’re simple to care for, basically. (Though I’m unsure about the porosity of the material, so I consider these fluid-bonded!)

Overall, before I had the OhNuts, there was a part of my sex life that sucked – but I assumed that was the way it had to be. My thrusts had to be careful and measured because I really didn’t want to hurt my partner by going too deep. With the OhNut rings, however, that problem is just gone. Now it’s literally impossible for me to thrust too deeply when they’re wrapped around my dildo, and it allows me to focus on enjoying myself and going as deeply as I want to while the rings offer a safe buffer for my partner’s comfort and pleasure. It’s a sex toy I never would have thought about needing, but now that we have it, they’re mine, and I’m never giving them up. They’re not going to be a useful addition to sex for every sexually active couple out there, but if you need them, well, you’ll feel the same way. Thanks to SheVibe for providing these wearable penetration buffers for my OhNut sex toy review.
