Tantus Sam Dildo Review

Tantus Sam Silicone Dildo

If you’re looking for a thick, realistic dildo that’s anal safe and strap-on compatible with a realistic design, the Tantus Sam dildo is a good choice for you. With an intense thickness at 1.8″ diameter, the toy features a somewhat standard length at 7.3″ insertable. Made from the Tantus O2 silicone, the toy features a matte, non-shiny finish. Unlike many other Tantus toys, the Tantus Sam silicone dildo also comes with a compatible suction cup and vibrating bullet. The base of the Tantus Sam includes a textured hole that allows compatibility with these two Tantus accessories. (The bullet vibrator includes all batteries needed for operation).

This large silicone dildo comes in unique packaging for Tantus. It’s about twice as large as standard Tantus packaging to accommodate the extra accessories that the toy comes with. As the packaging is so large, it’s probably not the best choice for storing all of the items – in fact, a large plastic bag would probably do best if you’re looking to keep the dildo and all accessories together. The dildo is displayed in clear plastic to allow you to view it and its accessories from almost all angles. The box is rectangular which may allow for easier wrapping for gifting.

Speaking of what the toy comes with, unlike almost all of the other Tantus toys available, the Sam Tantus dildo comes with bonus accessories. This dildo includes a large hole in the base of the toy. This hole allows this sex toy to use the accessories it comes with. (In order to easily slide out the accessories after use, I recommend a drop of lubricant in the hole and on the accessory before putting them together). The black item is a suction cup. Slide it into the hole at the base, and it instantly equips your silicone dildo with the ability to suction to flat surfaces. The small bullet vibrator can be slid into the hole in the dildo to equip the toy with gentle vibrations. These two accessories will also be compatible with any other Tantus dildo that includes a hole in the base.

Texture of the toy

The Tantus Sam dildo has a basic, yet effective, design. It’s a realistic-looking dildo with larger-than-average measurements. It isn’t anything fancy – it’s just what a large-than-average human penis would be. It has an intense thickness with a somewhat-larger-than-average thickness. Tantus chose to stick relatively close to “realistic” with the design itself – some noticeable veins along the shaft and an unpronounced, untextured head. The toy doesn’t have much plushyness or flexibility to it, so that width is a *true* width – you’ll feel all of it.

If you’ve paid attention to the measurements, make sure that you’re aware of how large this dildo is. It isn’t a tiny one. It’s larger in thickness and width than your average human penis – and since the material the Tantus Sam is made from is pretty stiff and rigid, it definitely feels thicker too. It has a bit of squish to it, but it isn’t much – only enough to confirm that the toy is full silicone, through-and-through. (The heft confirms that too) When attempting to bend the dildo, it won’t even bend 90 degrees. Again, a pretty stiff silicone without much give to it. (Other thinner, more-flexible Tantus toys can bend the tip-to-base)

Tantus makes a couple different “feels” for their silicone, and the Tantus Sam has more of the matte type of feel to it. This tends to be a lot more “draggy” than I prefer for strap-on play. A good, thick water-based lubricant slickens it up pretty well, but I prefer using a condom on Tantus Sam. A Magnum XL will cover it comfortably down to the base, but a regular condom is a pretty, pretty tight fit (and may rip). When using without a condom, you might need to reapply lube (as the toy tends to absorb a bit), but with a condom, it doesn’t seem to need as many reapplications.

For those who usually use a Vixen Creations Maverick as your “large” realistic dildo, you should be aware that the Tantus Sam definitely has more thickness to it. As we’ve replaced the Maverick with the Sam for our “thick” toy, we’ve had a good time to compare the two. The Vixen Creations Maverick is a lot more squishy and plushy – it also has a particularly large head that leads a slimmer shaft. The Sam is entirely more firm, feels more thick, and it’s about the same thickness all the way through – you don’t get that “popping in” sensation that a Maverick provides because of the head.

Rigidity of the Tantus Sam

When it comes to the accessories, I still must admit that I’m slightly frustrated. Tantus has offered this “hole in the base for accessories” design for a long time, and it has taken a few forms. At the moment, it includes a textured interior for the dildo to increase the dildo’s firmness and increase the accessory’s effectiveness. This works fantastically for the suction cup. The suction cup slides in particularly easily, and since it has a large, gigantic base, it’s pretty easy to remove it from the base of the Sam dildo after you’re done. (Protip: Add some lubricant to the accessory AND the accessory hole to make removal easier after you’re done).

However, the vibrating bullet isn’t quite so easy. I think a slight redesign of the bullet would help a ton. The bullet doesn’t have any clear “gripping” point around the base. In fact, once you slip the bullet far enough into the dildo to become effective, the bullet comes a giant pain in the butt to get back out. As-in, you might need pliers. The lubricant added before you slip in the bullet helps, but during play, you’ll probably get lube on the external base of the bullet or the base of the toy which makes it even harder to pull out. A small lip around the base of the bullet would help a ton with getting good leverage to pull it out. As it is, your hand regularly slips off the base which makes it even harder to get off. As it stands, it’s a bit too frustrating to want to use regularly – especially if I’m going to be using it in a strap-on harness which makes it likely that the pressure might push the bullet even further into the hole.

However, even without these accessories, the Tantus Sam dildo is a good choice for penetration for those who love larger, realistic toys. If you’re not looking to go entirely outside the realm of realism, the Tantus Sam dildo is large – but still reasonably realistic. The base makes it comfortable for strap-on harness use while the constant width throughout the entire toy makes it easily to slip in and out without too much adjustment required. The length is realistic, the width is large – but realistic, and as such, it makes a fantastic strap-on or playtime toy for someone that wants to experience a larger-than-average penetration experience while still enjoying an aspect of realism.

It’s worth noting, though, that despite the O2 material that Tantus makes this dildo out of, the material doesn’t feel particularly realistic. It definitely feels good – and has a nice thickness to it, but the realism is entirely in the look and size of it. The material itself definitely feels like a silicone dildo.

As this toy is made of the pure silicone of most of the Tantus sex toys line, it’s pretty simple to clean. The only attention you’ll really need to pay is to the interior accessory hole. Make sure you give it a good cleansing while cleaning the rest of your toy. For regular cleaning, the Tantus Sam can easily be cleaned with warm water and anti-bacterial soap. If you want a more thorough clean, consider boiling the toy or using a water/bleach bath. When lubricating, make sure to use water-based lubricant because of the silicone toy’s material. For storage, the dildo doesn’t seem to have a problem with picking up hair or lint which makes it easy to store. However, for easier use, just use a plastic bag or fabric bag to reduce any hair or fuzz that it might pick up.

Overall, if you want a thick, realistic dildo that’s going to feel exactly how large it looks, the Tantus Sam is going to be a good choice. The base makes it a good choice for strap-on play while the hollow interior allows for use with the included suction cup or optional vibrator. While I’d love to see the accessory vibrator redesigned for easier removal, I’m extremely happy with the dildo itself. It’s firm, it’s thick, it’s comfortable in a harness, and it’s exactly what you’d want with it’s realistic dimensions that still push the width envelope. Thanks to Tantus for providing this large silicone dildo for my Tantus Sam dildo review.
