Petite Butterfly Vibrator

The Petite Butterfly is a small, hands-free, strap-on vibrator designed by Blush Novelties. Made of phthalates-free TPR, it requires two AA batteries for use and is available in a pink and clear color. The Petite Butterfly features an external and corded remote control, and the vibrator is designed to be one-size-fits-most. The butterfly itself is about two and a half inches long with a width of about two and a half inches as well. The Petite Butterfly vibrator also features a 30 day warranty.

The packaging for the Petite Butterfly is a plastic, cylindrical-like package. It’s see-through and allows you to see the vibrator through the front of the packaging when it’s unopened. The packaging is, quite honestly, a pain in the ass to deal with for storage, though, (because it’s hard to open and close), so I recommend a plastic baggie or storage bag if you plan on wanting a form of long-term storage for your Petite Butterfly vibrator.

First, I’ll start off with the harness itself. It only has two straps; it has a strap that goes around each one of your legs while the Petite Butterfly vibrator will be the “connecting point” between those two straps. Unlike other types of butterfly vibrators, this one does not have a waist strap that goes around the waist.

The harness itself is comfy! We’ve used butterfly vibrators before, and most of them have a plastic-type of harness to keep the vibrator on you. Those cut into skin and just HURT if you rub them the wrong way. (And especially hurt if you’re more plus-sized than average). This one is made with elastic, though, so imagine the elastic-like material of a blindfold; it’s like that. It’s very stretchy and very comfortable on the skin. The straps do have some amount of adjustment to them (with a small, bra-type-like adjuster on each strap). Each one of the straps also has a small hook that allows you to easily remove the strap, so if you don’t want to step into the harness (or want to take it off after you’re done), you can just unhook the strap and it easily comes off. I haven’t had any issues with the straps coming off unless I took them off.

Size-wise, the “one-size-fits-most” is relatively accurate. I’d say you could easily go up to a 14/16 without even stretching the butterfly wings. However, keep in mind that larger sizes WILL stretch the butterfly wings on the sex toy more. This may lead to it ripping/breaking sooner. The elastic itself, though, is extremely flexible, and you can easily put it on – even if you’re plus-sized. Since it’s a nice soft, elastic, it also doesn’t cut uncomfortably into the skin – even if it’s a bit tight.

The butterfly vibrating portion of this sex toy is basically just a small, regular bullet vibrator placed into a TPR sleeve. The sleeve is the shape of a butterfly – it has two wings (where the two leg straps are attached) as well as little fluttering anteannea. It also has little tickler-like texture on the bottom side of the vibrator (the side that rests against your body). The ticklers aren’t painful and are very flexible. I think they actually do add some teasing pleasure to it, but it does make the sensation more teasing than fulfilling. The TPR sleeve is extremely squishy, and it doesn’t have much of a scent to it at all.

All of the vibrations are controlled by the remote on this strap-on vibrator. The remote is about hand-sized, and works well for both right and left handers. There’s a small “wheel” towards the top of the vibrator that has small grooves in it, and it makes it very simple to turn the wheel even if your hands are covered in lubricant. There are only steady vibration levels you can adjust with this wheel – it allows you to adjust the intensity. There is no patterned levels. The cord that attaches to the vibrator is about two feet in length, so it’s enough room for most people to move around pretty easily.

The remote is attached to the “base” of the butterfly’s butt. So, if you’re wearing the butterfly with its antennae pointing towards the clitoris, the remote comes out towards your legs. This actually works out okay if you have a partner who is controlling the vibrator from beneath your waist. However, if you are controlling the vibrator, you’ll probably hold the vibrator at waist-level or higher, and if the cord has any tightness to it from where you’re holding it, the tightness of the cord will pull the vibrator’s base away from your body. I know that all sounds a bit confusing, but basically, you just have to watch how much tension you put on the cord because any tension from above is going to pull the vibrator away from your body. However, if someone is controlling the vibrator from behind you (like if you’re bent over and wearing the vibrator with the cord pulled between your legs), any tension will actually pull the vibrator closer to you. This is just something to keep in mind, but I definitely would have preferred to see the vibrator’s cord come out from the top of the vibrator versus from the bottom.

Another issue is how this vibrator is set-up. Once you get all of the straps pull on and everything, if you’ll notice, you only get two leg straps. There isn’t a waist strap like some strap-on vibrator harnesses have. This, in itself, isn’t horrible, but if you have to remember that there’s nothing really pulling this vibrator towards the clitoral area. It depends on how your body is shaped as well as how your anatomy is, but for us, this didn’t hit the clitoral area when worn unless it was specifically lifted or pushed up there. During regular use, it tended to stay around the vulvar area. Laying down, it was easier to adjust the butterfly to stay exactly where you wanted it since gravity wasn’t really working so much against you.

However, while on the vulvar area, you could easily put panties around this and go about your daily business because it stayed pretty nicely. The elastic straps are a VAST improvement with comfort versus the plastic straps of other types of butterfly vibrators because it’s much more comfortable. However, with the lack of the waist strap and the way that this is positioned, be aware that, if you have a clitoris higher up on your body than someone, this may not hit correctly.

Something I do wonder about is the flexibility of the wings. It is fantastic for wear, but I do wonder if the wings may stretch and tear with lots of frequent stretching and use. For the price, though, it’s actually a fantastic feature, and if after three years of use, you manage to tear them, it’s worth purchasing another one. For regular use, though, unless it’s over time, it doesn’t look or seem like the wings are going to snap with a single use. They seem well-built, and the straps are far enough in that it should keep them from just ripping the Petite Butterfly apart.

The vibrations themselves are definitely buzzy and on the moderate side. This probably is not enough for most women/people to be able to orgasm. However, it does work as a tease and as a supplement to other pleasure, and as many people prefer to wear butterfly vibrators like this one during penetrative sex, it acts as a good supplement to pleasure already going on. Along with that, the vibration is pretty quiet (hard to hear in the same room), so it doesn’t act as much of a distraction while engaging in other sexual activities.

To clean this vibrating sex toy, as it is not waterproof, you do have to be careful. You need to wash the vibrator with warm soap and water before and after each use, and you should make sure that the battery cover is secure and in its place before washing. Also make sure that you keep most of the water away from any of the open areas of the butterfly or the remote as this sex toy is not waterproof. For lubricant, you can use any type of lubricant, and due to the shape of the toy, it’s near-impossible to cover completely (short of a Dental Dam on the wearer), so it’s best if you consider this sex toy fluid-bonded to the person that uses it.

Overall, the Petite Butterfly vibrator is okay. It has some issues, but it also has some definite advantages as well. If you tend to want something that focuses clitorally while standing up, this one may not work too well, but if you want something that’s extremely easy to use and extremely comfortable to wear, the Petite Butterfly is right up your alley. Thanks to Blush Novelties for providing this hands-free vibrator for my Petite Butterfly vibrator review.
