While Wet still offers the Wet Platinum silicone-based lubricant, they now call it the “Wet Platinum Pure” or “Wet Platinum Luxury” lubricant. Same stuff, new, shinier packaging.- September 2021.
So far, the boyfriend and I have been using water-based lubricant for all of our different anal play. While it’s always worked alright, we find that it dries up really quickly, and it can make our play painful unless we reapply it quite often. With that in mind, we decided to switch over to a silicone-based lubricant.
Wet Platinum lubricant is a silicone-based lubricant. Silicone-based lubricant is safe to use with condoms, tends to be long-lasting, and stays slick even in the water. Wet Platinum lubricant comes in large, black plastic bottle that includes an indentation to help with grip even if your hands are covered in silicone lubricant. The 8.9 ounce bottle easily includes about two-hundred uses if it is used moderately. I find that a little squirt of the lubricant easily lasts to lubricant the entire area for a whole session. The expiration of my bottle doesn’t come until 2015, so I’m pretty sure I’ll end up using it all up before then.
The neat thing about this lubricant is how lubricated it really does stay. Even a couple drops will serve as enough lubricant for most regular-timed play sessions. The consistency is a little bit thicker than you’d expect water to be. It won’t just spill out, but if you tip the bottle downwards, it will easily come out. Wet Platinum stays lubricated for a long time, so reapplication is a very rare occurrence. Whether it was playing with toys, vaginal sex, or anal sex, I found no reason to reapply the lubricant as long as the session was below twenty minutes or so.
Wet Platinum works great during your session. Afterwards and during, it doesn’t get sticky in the slightest. It also doesn’t feel greasy – just slick. After you’re done with your play, it still won’t get sticky – it just tends to feel a little slimy because it’s so slick.
I found that Wet Platinum had no scent to it. I can’t smell it after it’s been dispensed onto my fingers. I also didn’t notice much of a taste to it. I wouldn’t recommend tasting it for long periods of time since it has a slight chemical taste after lots of consumption. If you want to do oral sex for a good flavor, I recommend trying some flavored lubricants.
Despite the amazing length of time that it lasts, it does have some downsides to it. Wet Platinum is a silicone-based lubricant. As a silicone-based lube, clean-up can be a pain. Water-based will come off as soon as water is introduced to the lubricant. Silicone-based is meant to stay on even when it water. As you can imagine, it can take quite a bit of soap and water to remove it. When we used it, we were careful to keep it off the sheets, but I know most silicone lubricants can stain the sheets as well, so be careful. I did a small test on the sheets though, and I didn’t notice a stain, so Wet Platinum doesn’t look like it will have that problem.
Another small con is that silicone lubricant isn’t safe for silicone toys. It’s great for any play that doesn’t include silicone toys, but for silicone toys, you should use a water-based lubricant.
The bottle doesn’t leak at all. The bottle can get a little slippery if you get some of the lubricant on the outside of the bottle during use. I recommend you then clean it off with soap and water or keep it in a plastic baggie, so it won’t spread the lubricant.
Since it’s silicone lubricant, Wet Platinum has very basic ingredients: Dimethicone, Cydomethicone, Dimethiconol. This means that is a very body-safe lubricant to use. It doesn’t include any glycerin or any parabens. While it can be a little annoying to leave it on to dry, it won’t hurt your health if you don’t wash it off.
If you are looking for slick lubricant that lasts during your session, this is the perfect lubricant. It lasts forever, has a pretty bottle, is body-safe, and doesn’t use much at once. If you want to use this lubricant with silicone toys or want something that easily washes off, you will want to choose a water-based lubricant.
