The Anal Sex Position Guide is a Quiver Books book that was written by Tristan Taormino. The book is a softcover book with 176 full-color pages on the inside. There are 15 different chapters as well. The pages inside are full-color, photo-quality pages which display lots of photos. Because of the photos in this book, I wouldn’t recommend reading this book in public.
The biggest question to ask is: Where has this book been all my life? I’m always looking out for new and creative book ideas, and this one has it. I’ve never read an anal sex book before that focused on anal sex positions. Some how-to guides mention it, but none of them take it as a complete focus. For that reason, this book was very interesting to read. I’ve never read any of the content before, and it was just very interesting to read, flip-through, and try some of the positions. One of my biggest loves about this book is that it doesn’t exclude men. I’m in a relationship where I’m giving the anal sex to my male submissive, and most books usually focus on the female as the receiver. While the majority of this book has the female as the receiver, there are some sections about the male as a receiver, and I loved seeing that in here.
I love the fact that Tristan Taormino included lots of pictures in this book. Sometimes, sex position books don’t include pictures, and I think that really defeats the entire point of a book about them. In this book, there are tons of full-color, full-page pictures of couples engaging in the anal sex positions. With each position mentioned, there is a picture of the couple engaging in it, so you are never left wondering what you’re supposed to be doing for a position. The majority of the pictures are ones of the male being the giver with the female receiving, but in the strap-on chapter, the females wear strap-ons and give instead, so that’s a nice change of scenery.
I like this book. There are tons of sex positions in here, and Tristan has sorted them for you by how difficult they are. There are Beginner and Basic Positions, Intermediate Positions, Advanced Positions, and a specific chapter on Positions for Strap-On Anal Sex. Along with that, there are also text chapters of the book where she basically explains exactly how to go about having anal sex, so even if you’ve never had it before, this works as your from-the-ground-up guide to anal sex. There’s a chapter on anatomy and pleasure, communication, preparing for anal sex, and how to go about it including toys for anal pleasure, anal pleasure for men, and how to find the right positions.
Not only all of that, but Tristan also included the “Words to Inspire You”. This is a small excerpt between sections of an erotica writing that has to do with anal sex. They’re pretty short at about four pages each, but they’re really really sexy to read, and they do get you in the mood to want to try some of the positions in the book. I think it was a great edition to the book.
With each sex position, you get a full-page, color picture of the models doing the position as well as a short description of what the position is and how you get into it. Along with that, you also get some “pros” and “cons” about each position. It will mention what the view is like, if it’s good for deep penetration, if it’s better for guys of certain length, if it’s better for beginners or not, and if it’s best for people who prefer different types of sex (rough, sensual, etc.) The cons will let you know if you can get in deep, if it might be hard to move, if it’s bad for people with bad joints, or things like that. I wish I could have seen more mention of how weight could play into things, but I always wish I could see more of that.
Along with that, after each position, it gives a couple of variances on the position. This is slight position changes or slight limb changes that can make the position feel different, more intense, or just make it more challenging. Along with that, Tristan mentions, with each position, how to “give” it good and how to “get” it good to get the most out of each sex position. She also gives “dos” and “don’ts” for each position, so really, you are getting a lot of information with each position to work with.
I think most couples should be able to do a majority of these positions – especially the ones listed in “beginner”. This book really has a lot of anyone, so if you just started into anal sex, you can stick to beginner stuff, or if you’re curious, you can try out some of the more advanced positions as you start having more anal sex. The basic positions are pretty basic (doggie, missionary) while the more advanced ones basically take more advanced versions of the basic ones, but they could be difficult to get into if you haven’t been doing anal sex or aren’t that limber; it really depends on your body.
Overall, I’m very fond of this book. Whether you have been doing anal sex for years or just want to jump into it, this is one of the few anal sex position guides out there. It can be difficult to find good sex books, and Tristan does a great job of including quite a few for you to experiment with in this guide.
