The Tenga Flip Hole Masturbator in Black is a high-tech masturbator intended for reuse. From what I know, it’s Tenga’s first reusable masturbator. The boyfriend has been whining about wanting it for a very long time – ever since I showed him the trailer video that claims all of the engineering aspects of the toy. (He’s an engineer and just loves all of it.) He thought that a lot of time and effort had been put into this and was amazingly excited about trying it.
The Tenga Flip Hole in Black is supposed to be tighter and an “upgrade” on the white version of the Flip Hole. It’s made from TPR silicone and is about seven inches long. The Flip Hole opens up to allow for easy cleaning, and the entire toy is sealed together during use by a slip-on side casing. The Flip Hole is constantly being compared to the “king” of male masturbators – Fleshlight – so you know something good has to be going on here.
The packaging is pretty basic, but I like what they did with it. (Besides the sticker at the top that says “Man Pleasure Time after Time!” which just reeks of Engrish.) The packaging is a circular plastic tube in which the Tenga sits in a tray at the bottom. There isn’t much writing on the tube itself, and Tenga let the Flip Hole speak for itself. The Flip Hole also comes with three different types of hole lotions – mild, real, and wild. This packaging is slightly suitable for storage – the bottom and top caps are high-quality, but the plastic tube tends to squish, and there’s really no way to fasten the lid back onto the top when opened. You could just take your items out and trash the packaging. (As a sidenote, our Real lotion seems to have leaked a bit onto itself.)
The texture is impossible to describe. Watching the trailer on the Tenga Flip Hole Black product page seems to work better. Basically, it’s a mixture of all sorts of things that were engineered to feel best against your penis and at specific spots. There are some “gates” to go through, some triangles to brush up against, a circular bulb at the end which will stimulate the head of your penis, some small bulbs along the body to stimulate you that way, and so much more. The top and bottom of the Flip Hole actually don’t match – they provide two different textures, so I recommend trying the Flip Hole both right-side up and upside-down to find which position you enjoy better.
The way the Flip Hole works is actually really nice. The idea of having a masturbator open up like this for easy cleaning is definitely a novel one. Jackmaster has tried to do something like this, but in our experience, it never works for them because their clasp is too weak. With the Flip Hole, they’ve gotten around that by forming a full seal around the body of the male sex toy. What normally functions as the lid to the Flip Hole is actually lid with two sides attached to it that run down the body of the toy. You can slide it off of the top, pour some lubricant into the body of the toy, and slide the “lid” to to cap the “bottom” of your toy instead of the top, and it keeps the toy sealed together great during use. The boyfriend says it still feels a little weak, and he’s afraid he’s going to break it, but there were no signs of that during use, and it held together great. The boyfriend thinks its just his mindset that makes him think it’s going to break – not the toy itself.
The Flip-Hole has two small push-down pads on either side of the Flip Hole to allow you to control the pressure on either side of the toy. There’s a button nearest the entrance to control that pressure, a button nearest the end of the toy that controls the pressure around the head, and the button in the middle controls the pressure in the entire toy. The boyfriend comments that the first and third ones are easy to push down and make a good difference, but the middle one is definitely difficult to hold down because you have to fight against the entire length of your penis in the toy. He preferred using the button nearest the entrance.
The texture is a neat one. The boyfriend said he enjoyed it, but it wasn’t perfect. In the Fleshlight Vrs. Flip Hole battle, he says it’s about a tie. The Flip-Hole easily outperforms some Fleshlight textures like the Original or the Lotus, but when it comes to other textures like the Wonder Wave, Touch, or the Mouth, it just doesn’t measure up. He was able to orgasm with it but says it was a bit hard to do and didn’t just easily come to him like other toys do. The first third of the texture was the most pleasurable for him – he feels like adding something more stimulating to the area with the head of the penis would have made it more pleasurable. However, overall, he definitely agrees that the texture is something that is an added improvement over using your own hand. He says the Flip-Hole doesn’t really feel like sex at all – it’s a different sensation entirely.
The only big complaint he had with the texture is the opening of the Flip-Hole. At the opening, the texture actually is split into two halves like the rest of the toy is, but you can notice it there. If the toy is filled completely, the texture at the entrance ends up splitting apart widely. Because there isn’t enough texture to actually grasp around a girthy penis, you end up with about an inch of “room” on each side of the Flip-Hole where there isn’t enough material to cover the penis. He said that felt a tad bit awkward, and he would have preferred the material to actually cover all of him.
The case of the Flip-Hole was also a slight annoyance for him. The case can be a bit difficult to comfortably grasp with one hand while attempting to use the buttons on it. When his hand was covered in lubricant, it made the case even harder to grasp since there isn’t any particular texture on the case that makes it easy to hold. The Fleshlight cases have the grooves on the case while the Fliphole doesn’t. It also it just a bit large to be grasping the full case with just one hand. He almost says he’d be okay with giving up the “flip” aspect just to have the case stay in one piece.
None of those complaints have really made the Flip-Hole a deal-breaker. They all are just minor complaints for the sake of this review. He still says the entire product, overall, is definitely worth it, but from all of the hype he received from the commercials, he was expecting a bit more. It’s all minor stuff that doesn’t really frustrate him at all – it’s just worth mentioning.
Those lotions go a long way – it’s insane. We’ve used the Flip Hole four times, once with each lotion and once with Wet Original, and for each of our lotions we’ve used, it’s only used about a sixth of the lubricant. This means that we have about 18 uses of lubricant included with the product itself. In a time where most toys come with a one-use packet that isn’t even enough, this makes me a happy person. The texture of the lubricants are definitely different, and each person is going to prefer their own type of lubricant. The “Real” lotion is really thick and tends to get stick. (Really thick. Like, the boyfriend touched his fingers together and moved them apart, and it stayed in a long strand until about three feet.) Mild is thinner than Real but thicker than wild. It’s just like a regular lubricant. Wild was pretty thin, and for the boyfriend, he said it produced a slight warming sensation but he wasn’t sure. I tried it on my fingers and felt nothing, but he sticks by his warming-sensation claim.
Cleaning the Flip Hole is amazingly easy. Other male masturbators don’t allow you to use soap, but the Flip Hole is a-okay with that. You can easily wash it out with soap and water, then the lid can be positioned at the crook of the masturbator and the Flip Hole will hang open upside down for easy drying. Complete drying for us only took about two hours of sitting there compared to about eight with a Fleshlight. To hurry it up, you can pat it down after you’re done cleaning it, but I wouldn’t recommend putting it away wet just to safeguard against mold. This product recommends using only water-based lubricants, so avoid silicone-based. For storage, we are keeping it in the original packaging for now, but the male masturbator is self-sufficient and actually doesn’t need any packaging.
When it comes to cleaning, though, as easy as it is, the boyfriend has one complaint. He says getting the lid to actually sit in the crook of the Flip-Hole is a slight annoyance, and it takes a balancing act. If anything happens to bump the Flip-Hole, it will fall over. (We haven’t bumped it yet – just sayin’.)
Thus, overall? The Flip-Hole can be summed up pretty easily. The Flip-Hole is a good masturbation toy that can stand toe-to-toe with the Fleshlight. It has an interesting texture that is pleasurable but not mind-blowing. There are some small flaws about the Flip-Hole that detract slightly from it, but overall, it’s a great male masturbator worth picking up.
