Tenga Air Review

Tenga Air
Everything the Air comes with

The Tenga Air is a male masturbation sleeve made by Tenga and sold by Babeland. This male masturbator is about seven inches tall, and it’s made from plastic and TPE material. The masturbator comes in both white versions and black versions; the black version is supposed to be more intense while the white one is supposed to be less intense. The masturbator also comes with a sample of lubricant as well.

The packaging for the Tenga Air is actually pretty nice. It comes in a clear, see-through plastic tube. This masturbator easily comes out of the tube, but there’s really no reason to keep the tube once you’ve removed the masturbator. The masturbator also comes with a small instruction book from Tenga as well as a small sample of lubricant. Unlike the original FlipHole which included three different lubricant samples, this masturbator only includes the one. I actually like this better as the old three-sample way was a lot of lube!

I think that Tenga products are really hit or miss for us. Some of them are definitely hit (like the Tenga Eggs) while we seem to be having issues with the Flip Holes. We used the original Flip Hole, and it worked great aside from the fact that the texture wasn’t intense enough for the boyfriend to orgasm. So while we definitely loved a lot of that toy, the texture just wasn’t intense enough, so when we found that they were re-making their Flip Holes with cushion foam, new textures and tighter designs, we were all over that! The last one wasn’t a good one, but maybe this one would be just awesome! While this experience wasn’t nearly as good as I’d hope, I still actually do have sincere interest in trying their next line as I can hope, again, that they’ve ironed out the kinks. Maybe the third time’s the charm?

The inner texture

We were definitely pretty darn excited for this male masturbator though. It seemed like a good choice, and I love the design aspect behind it. Just like the original Tenga Flip Holes, this masturbator folds apart for easy cleaning. This does different from the original Flip Hole though. Instead of having the three-button system, this masturbator just has one button. Instead of having the slide-out piece connect at both sides, it actually connects purely on one side. Plus, overall, the entire masturbator is actually smaller in width and side which makes it easier to hold. The old Tenga Flip Hole was a two-handed toy, but this version has turned this male masturbation sleeve into a one-handed job.

The basic design behind the Tenga Flip Air is that there’s a circular tube that has been “cut” in half at one side to give it a hinge. There’s also a slipcover for the masturbator. This slipcover regularly hides the entry hole during non-use, but when you want to use it, you pull off the slip cover and insert the slipcover going on backwards. This still holds the masturbator together, but it exposes the entrance hole. This slipcover holds amazingly, and don’t expect your masturbator to unhinge during use.

We did have some issues with it, though, which have caused this to sit at the bottom of the drawer. Even with the boyfriend whining when I tell him we need to use it, we gave it quite a few tries with different techniques to try and make it work better for us. Before I continue, I’ll let you know that the boyfriend is average in length about larger in width than average. This may have effected our use, and this may be a problem for you as well if you have larger-than-average width.

The biggest issue is the noise. Now, this is one NOISY masturbator. We’ve tried varying the lubricant to large degrees – a little lube, a lot of lube, watery lube, thick lube. The best results is with a little bit of thick lube, and watery lubricant tends to make it louder. However, with most of the variations we tried, this masturbator is still about the same amount of noise as a cell phone ringing on high. The boyfriend and I don’t mind squicky noises when a masturbator is used as it just tends to be something that happens, but for some reason, the Tenga Air is really, really loud. We own tons of masturbators, and this is by far the loudest. It’s actually distracting during use, and it’d probably cover up your porn if you were watching some.

The other biggest problem we had was with the suction. This suction is intense! I definitely mean “intense” too! Maybe if you had a smaller penis in terms of girth, it wouldn’t be an issue, but he actually had issues being able to even thrust into the masturbator. He was holding down the button which is supposed to relieve the air pressure inside the chamber too, but he wasn’t even able to move with the button held down or with releasing the button either. We tried all the combinations we could really think of, but it seems that this masturbator is just too tight. The suction was just way too intense to even be able to move. Maybe, again, if you were smaller of girth, it might work better, but just for us, he couldn’t even thrust in and out without an uncomfortable suction sensation.

The final issue was the lubricant. Depending on the lubricant you use, it will get all over you. We’re okay with making a bit of a lubricant mess, but we do usually try to keep it contained to avoid too much of messy clean-up. With this masturbator, it ran all out from the bottom during use, and it even seeped out from the button holes as well. This just made for a large mess. One thing the lubricant did not do was come out through the sides where it was being held together, so it was contained to mostly the base of your penis and your fingers holding the masturbator. Because of this, the masturbator ended up being way too slippery, and he had to wipe his hands quite a bit to get the lube off. As a note, the instruction guide warns not to use too much as it will leak, but we definitely tried using the bare amount for penetration, and it still would leak.

The inside feels interesting. The boyfriend says that he thinks that he really would have enjoyed the masturbator if it had worked better for him. The texture is really neat. The outside edges of the masturbator have little ridges, and the middle of the masturbation area includes ridges, ball-like structures, soft “spikes”, a tight entrance, and all sorts of interesting textures. The boyfriend agrees that he definitely liked all of the texture in there, but he couldn’t get to feel much of it with the issue of the noise and not being able to thrust and use it easily.

The masturbator doesn’t fall apart. That much is definitely true. Some of the other masturbators made like this will just break apart when something is inserted. This masturbator stays together. It also is going to last a long time. The book says it will last at least 50 uses, but I’d expect it to last much, much longer than that. It doesn’t show any signs of tearing or breaking, so I’d say you’ll definitely get a lot of uses out of this.

Showing how thick the lube is

The lubricant included with this Flip Hole Air is actually very, very thick! This is a good thing! The included lubricant drastically reduces the amount of noise that you’ll get with your masturbator, and it lasts a long time! The included lubricant is water-based with absolutely no smell to it. Depending on how much you use, you’ll get either one or two uses from the included bottle. The lube is definitely a thick, water-based lubricant though – when you squeeze the bottle, the lube will come out for about a 1/2 inch before it even starts to bend.

Cleaning is really easy with the design of the Tenga Air. You just have to use warm water and antibacterial soap to clean it. For cleaning, the masturbator opens right up in half, and you can easily splash water into it for cleaning. This can be cleaned with soap – unlike Fleshlights. A bit thing is NOT to press the air release button while washing as it could make your toy mold. Once you clean it, it can easily be put on its stand for cleaning, but ours dried nicely sitting on its side. It’s compatible with all types of lubricant, and I recommend storing it with the lid on.

Overall, I just can not give the Tenga Air a good review from us. I think other people might have better luck with it as it does seem to have good design and good features, but we just could not get this toy to work for the life of us. It does seem to be a nice though, but this one just didn’t work for us. Thanks to Babeland Toys for sending me this male masturbator for my Tenga Air review.
