The Tantus Gary O2 dildo is a long, standard-width silicone dildo made from 100% pure silicone and designed for strap-on play. 1.5″ in width with an insertable with of 7″, the dildo is about 8″ in total length. Made from dual-density silicone, the interior of the toy is designed to be very firm to the touch and hold the toy in place – while the exterior of the toy is supposed to have a soft, realistic feel to it. The Gary O2 comes equipped with a flared base that makes it safe for anal play and great for strap-on play, and it’s available in three realistic skintone colors.
The packaging for the Gary O2 matches up with all Tantus packaging. It comes in an open cardboard box that shows off the texture and the size of the dildo. The dildo itself is contained in a plastic molding that’s see-through. The packaging is square-shaped, and it provides a good amount of information about Tantus silicone and their company. The packaging, however, isn’t really designed to be used for long-term storage. While it gets your dildo to you safely, it’s a pretty big pain in the butt to open and close regularly, and the outer cardboard layer will start to tear.
This silicone dildo was designed for strap-on pleasure. The base is smaller in footprint to fit into a harness easily, and the toy offers a longer length that makes it particularly useful in strap-on situations. It, of course, can be used outside of strap-on use as well.
Speaking of silicone, the O2 is made from a dual-density design. This basically means that the outside of the dildo is slightly plushy while the interior is firm enough to allow the toy to hold its shape. It can bend in half relatively easily, and when stroking it, you’ll notice a slight bit of plush. While I love Tantus’s matte dildo design, I usually cover them with a condom. The matte texture can tend to ‘absorb’ lubricant really well, and when that lube is gone, a matte feeling just doesn’t feel good. Covering with a condom makes things a lot more slippery and pleasurable.
The texture really does a fantastic job for realism. The most noticeable texture that can be felt during use is around the head. It has quite a few layers of “folded’ skin near the head that offers a noticeable-during-use sensation. Outside of that, most of hte veins and other details can’t be felt nearly as easily. They provide a lot of help for the realistic visual, but they aren’t much of an addition from the texture side.
Unlike some Tantus toys, this dildo’s base does not make room for a bullet vibrator. The base is entirely thick and filled in, so it doesn’t offer that hole that some Tantus toys offer. The base is also relatively slim in width as well – and quite firm. If you find that some bases feel too thick to fit between your thighs, you’re not going to have that problem with the Gary O2. Unfortunately, I find that the base is a bit too firm for my liking. If I don’t watch how the toy is positioning, it can actually end up making some areas a bit sore.
Unlike a lot of Tantus dildos, I think the Gary O2 is a bit too heavy and tall to support its weight with the base design. If you’ll notice by the photos, it took a lot of finangaling to get the dildo to sit upright to take its picture. It’s top-heavy, and it likes to flop over. If you prefer putting your toys sitting up tall on their bases on the nightstand until you’re ready for them (to reduce dust/etc. that gets onto the surface), you’ll need a back-up plan. It’s not the end of the world, though; just a slight annoyance on my part.
When it comes to how this dildo slides into a harness, it does a fantastic job. The dildo is perfectly shaped for use in most harnesses – even ones with a built-in O-ring without much of an issue. Due to the heft of the dildo (especially towards the tip), it doesn’t stand up straight up or even straight out. It tends to have more of a droopy sort of look to it. As many long cocks have a similar problem, it’s not a huge deal, but if you’re looking for an impressive, hands-free look, you won’t get that from the Gary O2. However, it stands up fine if you help support the base for more of that “grab your cock” type of pose. The silicone is rigid enough to hold its form without drooping – it’s just that the toy is so heavy that most harnesses won’t be able to be comfortable while being tight enough to hold the toy upright.
Where Gary O2 is really going to excel is for those who really love long, deep lengths – but DON’T want a wide toy. There aren’t a lot of toys that retain the average (albeit, slightly wider than average) width while going to much longer lengths like Gary O2 does. Whether you just really like deep sensations or you just want to look well-endowed, Gary O2 does a good job meeting those needs.
It’s also a particularly fantastic choice for plus-sized strap-on harness wearers. If you’re on the larger size of “plus size”, it means that you may have more tummy and hips that tend to get in the way of penetration, so a longer dildo can help you get deeper into your partner more easily.
Like all of the pure-silicone Tantus products, the Gary O2 dildo is really simple to clean. As a pure silicone dildo, it just requires using some warm water and anti-bacterial soap to get it through a regular cleaning. If you’re wanting to sterilize it, consider a water/bleach mixture or boiling the toy; you’ll want a large pot, though, as this dildo is a pretty decent length. I’ve used Wet Platinum silicone-based lubricant on this one, but I’d recommend sticking with water-based lubricants until you have a chance to spot test them on the silicone. For storage, Tantus Gary O2 has a bit of a habit of picking up a bit of hair and lint (though not horribly), so it seems best to keep it in a clean bag. I just tend to clean it off thoroughly before each use to get off any dust or fuzz that found its way there.
As a note, Tantus themselves recommend boiling or dishwasher cleaning due to the intricate texture of this particular dildo.
Overall, there’s no reason NOT to buy the Gary O2 dildo. It’s a fantastic toy for strap-on play, particularly well-suited to plus-size strap-on, offers average (but filling) width while being longer-than-average, and is very durable and body-safe. If your sex toys must sit upright or you dislike longer toys, this may not be your favorite, but otherwise, if the design intrigues you, get it! Thanks to Tantus for providing this long strap-on silicone dildo for my Gary O2 review.
