Talk about a unique shibari rope gag! The Bound You II line focuses on the erotic look (and feel!) of kinky rope, and the bite gag of the line is no different. Made up of soft, braided, cotton material, the gag uses a tie-it-on fastening system that befits its rope-like design. The ends of the two strands of rope are knotted.

The Bound You II Shibari Rope Bite Gag claims that it’s one-size-fits-all. Generally, I scoff at that descriptor, but in the case of this gag, I’d say that it’s 100% accurate. If, by some manner (I don’t think it’s possible), you’re larger than the Bound You II rope gag size, you can tie on more ribbon/string to extend the size even further.

So, let’s hope straight into my Liebe Seele Bound You II Shibari Rope Gag review.

Shibari Rope Gag: What’s the Appeal?

If you’re into bondage rope and rigging, you probably love the feel of rope – and probably have a lot of rope that you already own. So what, pray tell, is the point of having a specific, dedicated, niche piece of BDSM gear

• Goes On in Seconds: There’s no need to figure out how to anchor your rope or how to tie it onto the hair. The Bound You II Shibari Rope Gag is as simple as sliding it into place – then tying it around the head. It (literally) goes on in seconds.

You get the look and feel of rope (which can be a really erotic material for some!) without needing to know virtually anything about rope bondage. Win-win!

Shibari Rope Gag: How Does It Work?

Leaning hard on its rope-like origins, the Bound You II Shibari Bondage Rope Bit Gag doesn’t really work like a standard mouth gag. That is, there are no clasps or buckles – or even any elastic.

Instead, the Bound You II Rope Gag uses the rope itself (and your ability to tie it into a bow) to fasten the bit gag onto the head.

Simply loosen the head strap rope that’s attached to either side of the rope gag, slide the rope gag over the head and place the rope bit where you want it, pull both ropes until the gag is snug, and then tie the two strands of rope together behind the back of the head.

To aid in getting a snug fit, the Bound You II Rope Gag features two loops on either side of the gag. The rope wraps around the head, slips through these loops (for added security and tension) then meets behind the head for you to tie it. Don’t worry: you’ll see what I mean after looking around the photos.

This “make a bow” has a few benefits – and a few downsides. For one, this system allows you to self-use the Bound You II Bondage Rope Bite Gag really easily. There are no clasps, locking mechanisms, or buckles to deal with behind your head. Simply tie a bow, and you can have the gag securely in your own mouth without too much trouble.

However, that same system can present some sustainability problems – especially if you play roughly. If you tie a simple bow, the soft, loose-laid design of the rope makes it really easy for the gag to untie itself while rubbing your head onto a surface.

Using the Shibari Rope Gag

For us, the Bound You II Shibari Rope Gag has a time and a place – but that’s just it: it has a valued spot in our collection because of its uniqueness.

For one, it’s a bit gag. This long, non-ball format means that it’s easier for him to breathe in – especially with his nasal issues. This already puts it at the forefront of our collection.

Beyond that, though, it’s really soft on the corners of the mouth. Unlike standard gag straps which usually are made of flat leather, the “ropes” of the Bound You II gag are just that – cylindrical ropes. They don’t have pressure points on the corners of the mouth. Since the rope material is soft, it’s actually (honestly!) pretty luxurious against the corners of the mouth compared to most gags.

We both really love that it’s easier and safer to clean as well. Our bit gag made of leather always gives us pause since it’s so hard to fully sterilize or clean leather without harming it. (There’s still some lipstick we’ve gotten on it that we can’t get out.) The cotton material is the same type of material we have clothing in – and it doesn’t take a ton of effort to keep up the material. This is vital considering how thoroughly cleaned we want something that we’re putting in his mouth.

Finally, I’m (quite regularly) happy to blow past set-up and application time if given a choice. The fact that the shibari rope gag can go on in seconds is a huge benefit for me. Just slide it on the head, tighten, tie, and boom: it’s on. This means it’s easy to pull this mouth gag out even when it’s a last-minute addition. I don’t even feel bad if it’s something we pull out for five minutes and then toss on the corner of a bed five minutes later. It’s so easy to take on and off that it doesn’t feel like an interruption.

On the opposing side, we don’t pull out this gag if we need something that’s really tight (it can be hard to tie this one on really tightly with the rope slipping) or something really secure (the knots can come undone over time).

For our gagging purposes, though, we rarely need something really tight or really secure; we’re normally going for reducing the ability to speak while simultaneously making it comfortable for everybody involved. He doesn’t want to feel pain or cuts on the corners of his mouth and I don’t want to spend forever putting on a mouth gag.

Shibari Rope Gag: Cleaning

Okay, this goes in your mouth, and it isn’t a standard gag design. Let’s talk about cleaning this bad boy – because when it comes to mouth gags, cleaning is a top priority.

That being said, it’s made of cotton – which makes it pretty easy to clean.

I will note: the cotton rope of this mouth bite gag is a loosely-laid two twist rope. This means it is super-duper easy to accidentally pull apart the braiding of this rope if you aren’t careful. If you don’t retwist it – and let the rope continue to pull apart, you can end up ruining your new shibari rope gag.

With that in mind, I’d keep this far, far away from the dryer – and preferably away from the washer as well. Handwashing – and twisting with the braiding as you go – can help the strands stay together for future use.

Luckily, the gag portion of the Liebe Seele Bound You II Rope Gag is very tightly wrapped. This helps prevent the gag’s braiding from loosening while washing it – which is really helpful considering the part that touches the mouth will be where you spend the majority of your cleaning time.

Shibari Rope Gag: The Packaging

I’ve stopped talking about packaging nearly as much as I used to, but I need to bring it up with the Liebe Seele Bound You II gag.

That is, this gag comes in obnoxious packaging.

An entire side of the box showcases a very-naked hentai person with very large, naked breasts and a shaved vulva in a barely-there string bikini bottom. The hentai character wears a worried “I’m at your mercy” expression. They are also wearing this rope gag in the graphic, but it’s a very minor, small detail.

Just like I want to call-out the bullshit when mainstream sex toys attempt to sell their toys by plastering very-sexual porn stars on the packaging, I want to call out the same with this gag. The packaging is just really unnecessary.

Inside the box, the shibari rope gag also comes within a see-through, mesh drawstring bag.
