The Romantic Ruffle Apron Babydoll is a piece of lingerie manufactured by Seven ’til Midnight and sold by Hot Plus Size Lingerie. This piece of sexy plus size lingerie includes underwire cups, a panel that runs down the front, ruffles along the outfit, and a matching basic thong. It’s available in XL, 1XL/2XL, and 3XL/4XL.
This lingerie is available in multiple sizes. For this review, I received the 3XL/4XL size. For this size, it should fit an 18-20 dress size, a D/DD cup, a 48″ to 54″ bust, a 40″ to 44″ waist, and a 50″ to 56″ inch hip. This is actually a very confusing size chart because a 56″ hip girl is probably around a size 24/26 rather than anywhere near an 18/20 dress size which leaves you wondering which number to believe. While it’s probably not the 18/20 dress size that you should believe, it definitely is not near the 26 range either. You’ll probably want to go down into thinking this as running a bit small, but by far, the most important measurement is the hip measurement and bust measurement. The waist is pretty free-form. If your hips tend to run large, I’d go up a size.
I have to wonder a bit about the bust. The size chart says that this will fit D/DD breasts, but with my B cup breasts, the cups were, while a little big, almost fully. I’d say you can fit a C in comfortably, and once you hit D/DD, you’ll probably start overflowing the cups. I do like the fact that, not only are the cups underwire, but they’re also structured and push-up. For someone like me who has smaller breasts, the push-up cups are a welcome addition, and while I’m sure the push-up may not work as well for larger-breasts, the structured cups do a lot better job at support than some other lingerie breast cups do.
I’ve been putting off doing this review because I, quite honestly, still can not fit into this particular piece of lingerie. This is a bit odd because I can wear other Seven ’til Midnight 3XL/4XL sizes but not this one. I am pretty pear-shaped, and the hip portion of the lingerie runs a bit small, and as size, my 56″ hips are not fitting in the lingerie. The rest seems like it would fit okay (though the bust portion would be tight), but the hips are really what is keeping me from being able to wear it. As I’m still losing weight, I plan to wear it in the future, but for now, I can’t.
While I haven’t been able to get the lingerie outfit fully on, I can get it on somewhat (nothing I’d consider sexy, but usable enough to get some insight into the lingerie). I like how the black panel on the front is created, but do be aware that it exposes your sides, so if you have any creases that you like to hide, those will be in plain sight. The panel down the front, though, if you have larger hips and a smaller waist, helps accentuate your smaller waist, and the ruffles on the skirt give your hips a slightly-larger appearance for more of an hourglass shape. It’s actually a pretty cute design, and I’m looking forward to being able to fully wear it.
This piece of plus-size lingerie also seems pretty well made. Despite having stretched it out multiple times to try and get it to fit right, there aren’t any loose threads or stitching. The bow between the cups is well sewn on, but you can easily remove it with some scissors if you want. I think it’s kinda cute, so I leave it there.
Be aware that the material of the skirt and stomach portion are relatively see-through. They aren’t completely see-through, but as they get more stretched, they tend to be more see-through. The cups themselves are not see-through though. If you are on the lower-end of the size chart, the lingerie will appear not-as-see-through, but if you are on the higher-end of the size chart, things will stretch which makes them stretch more. The stomach portion, because of how the lingerie is set-up, appears a bit more see-through than the skirt portion.
The lingerie is really comfortable though! The material that it’s made out of is really soft up against the skin, and it doesn’t really scratch you. The bust cups really fit up against the breasts nicely, and it feels a bit like just wearing a push-up bra. The skirt, if you are self-conscious, may cover less skin than you’re used to, as holding it up to my body shows that it barely will cover my butt. I also imagine that it will start to ride up a bit if you have larger hips, but as I can’t actually wear it at this point, I can’t confirm that. The lingerie does seem pretty darn comfortable though!
To clean this piece of lingerie, you’ll want to hand wash because of the padded bra and the softer material. You might be able to get away with washing it as a delicate in the washing machine and hanging it to dry though, but do be careful with it as the material is pretty soft and flimsy.
Overall, while this piece of plus-sized lingerie runs on the small side, it’s still a cute piece of lingerie, and I can’t wait to be able to fully wear it. The molded cups are definitely a nice change from regular lingerie, and the skirt and middle design really are designed to accentuate an hourglass figure. Plus, it’s comfortable!
