Ride ’em Cowgirl is a book published by TickleKitty and sold at Adult Sex Toys. Ride ’em Cowgirl is written by Dr. Sadie Allison, has a tagline of “Sex Position Secrets for Better Bucking”, and is a softcover book with pages printed in black and white. This sex-help book has 215 pages with tons of black and white illustrations. The book won the “Best Sexuality” award from the Independent Publisher association. The front of the cover shows a pretty girl wearing a cowboy hat, and the back of the book shows the author along with some of the key points that the book makes. Because of the large text on the front and back, along with the illustrations on the inside of the book, I’d recommend against taking this book into public to read. This is one of those books that is honestly better read at home away from prying eyes.
Basically, what Ride ’em Cowgirl is is a book that shows sex positions. However, instead of just being a sex position book, it also provides quite a bit of information about ways to improve sex. It has the drawn illustrations that show how the positions should be completed, and it also has information about the positions and how to improve them. For example, each chapter has a specific goal in mind. For the g-spot chapter, it talks about what the g-spot is, how to find it, how best to stimulate it, why it feels good, how you know you’re stimulating it, then finally, goes into the illustrated positions that will show you great ways to stimulate your g-spot during sex. However, it doesn’t give step-by-step information on how to pull off the positions. It just shows what the position looks like – figuring out how to get into it is something that you’ll have to do yourself.
Most of the illustrations portray a skinny women with large breasts coupled up with a muscular, strong male. I’m not sure if this is because that’s what the readers want or if it’s because it was easier to draw. However, two chapters feature other illustrations; the plus-size positions chapter as well as the pregnant sex chapter. In the plus-size chapters, the male and female are both plus-sized which is a little odd and in the pregnant section, the girl just looks like she’s pregnant.
A neat feature of this book is that it seperates the girl’s sections from the guy’s sections. If it’s something that would be good for the guy to know, it’s “For Cowboys Only”, and if it’s something that would be good for the girl to know, it’s “For Cowgirls Only”. Obviously, it’s fine to read the other gender’s section, but if you are looking for something short and easy to get straight into the action, the seperation of the two sections makes it really easy to find what works best for your gender.
Another thing that makes it easy to go straight to the information is that the majority of the book is bullet point. There’s a couple paragraphs to introduce the chapter, but for the most part, most of the text is just texts under “his/her” that will give you a bunch of different ways to improve upon the positions that will be provided later on in that chapter. Some of the bullet points seem like they are just rehashing upon what was already said, but honestly, it gets straight to the point while still keeping the book fun, and that’s exactly what I’ve come to expect out of the TickleKitty publications – and it’s a good thing.
The different positions in the examples are all kinda unique. Most of them will require ordinary things around the house such as a couch, pillows, chair, or other basic things, but for the most part, it’s just spin-offs on the original position that was shown in the chapter. For example, the missionary chapter shows the basic missionary, but then shows you ways to include pillows to make it better as well as ways to change up your legs to make penetration better.
All of the positions were designed and included because they are easy to do. You won’t find that any of these positions leave you feeling like “what is going on here”. They are all basic adjustments of the regular positions you do all of the time, but make the position feel even more pleasurable. Don’t expect anything acrobatic out of this book, and that’s a good thing. It provides the reader with a sense of security and with the ability to try out and purchase this book without feeling intimidated.
The different chapters in here really help provide some good information that will help provide some variety in your sex life. The first chapter has to do with the sex etiquette – not leaving your partner unsatisfied and common sense things like that to improve your sex life and relationship. The second chapter has to do with how to expand and extend your orgasms. It talks about the different types of female orgasms and how to attain them. Chapter 3 and 4 are basically copies of each other – but one talks about what you should when you are the penetrating partner and one talks about what you should do when you are the receiving partner. Both talk about ways to enhance what you’re already giving or receiving.
After those basic “intro” chapters, we get down to the chapters that will begin to include the well-known positions and illustrations of positions. The fifth chapter is all about missionary while the sixth is all about doggy style. The seventh is all about girl-on-top while the eighth is all about spooning.
The chapters after those all explain goal-orientated positions. For example, the ninth chapter is all about positions that will allow access to the clitoris for extra pleasure. The tenth chapter is all about positions that reach the g-spot. Both of those two chapters also explain about what it is and why it’s important to stimulate. The eleventh chapter is all about have penis-to-anal sex with the female and the twelve chapter is about stimulating the male p-spot and what positions work well for that. After that, the thirteenth chapter is about sex positions for plus-sized women; I was honestly a little disappointed by this chapter because it only showed four positions while other chapters would get ten and up. The fourteenth chapter is all about sex while being pregnant. It answers some basic questions like “Will I hurt the baby?” as well as gives good positions to go around the belly. It also talks about the specific changes in the sex drive throughout the trimesters.
The fifteenth chapter is all about outercourse – for example, dry humping, mutual masturbation, and things that don’t consider penis-in-vagina sex. Location is the subject of the sixteenth chapter, and it includes different places you can have sex. It talks about the different places to have sex in public and what risks you will take by doing so.
The seventeenth chapter is actually pretty neat. It’s all about the different types of penises – long, curved, short, girthy, not girthy, flexible, and rigid. It talks about what types of positions should work best for each type of penis as well as what ways you can help accomadate the problems of the penis to work better for sex. It’s actually a really unique chapter, and I’ve never seen anything like it in another sexual positioning book.
After that, the last, and eighteenth chapter, is going to be all about the different sex toys you can accomadate into your life. I wouldn’t call it comprehensive – in fact, the author made another book called Toygasms! that better addresses all of the information about sex toys if you are curious. However, it does go over a lot of the basics. After the sex toy chapter, you will hit the safety information chapter which talks about all of the safety concerns of sex and how to cut down on the risks.
So overall? I’m impressed but not as impressed by her previous books I’ve read. It’s a good book that goes above and beyond some of the other sex positioning books out there, but I feel like it could be improved upon by some more advanced positions and step-by-step directions. However, it does seperate the positions based upon what they work best for which is something that other books don’t do, and something that makes finding positions ten times easier, and I’m impressed by that too. The chapter about the different types of penises is impressive too. This sex toy store sells this sex help book, so pick up Ride ’em Cowgirl today.
