UPDATE APRIL 2020: The New Wave Double-Ended Dildo from FunFactory is out of production. This review remains as a reference for anyone who’s seeking information.
The New Wave dildo, made by FunFactory, is a double-ended dildo. Made from 100% medical-grade silicone, this dildo includes two different ends to make it work for two different people. This dildo is available in pink or black colors, and it’s thirteen inches in length (it’s a big one!). It has a diameter of about an inch and a half on either side.
The packaging for this dildo is pretty. It comes in a long, slender box that clearly displays what is inside of it. This box portion is just a slipcover, though, and there’s a much more discreet box underneath. Inside, this box just opens up to display the dildo; the dildo just rests in the box. There is no tray or anything to hold it in a single place. Along with the dildo, there’s a small instruction book that, if I’m honest, isn’t much help. There are very few words and they explain the do’s and dont’s via little pictures which aren’t the most helpful if this was your first sex toy purchase.
This dildo is created very simply. It has two ends, and in the middle, there’s a wide and flat area that clearly separates the two ends. Unlike most double-ended dildos, it isn’t just a long, straight toy, and instead, it has two distinct ends. The silicone FunFactory made the New Wave double dildo with is a bit on the draggy side, and I definitely recommending a large amount of lube or being very turned on to make sure that everything goes smoothly. The pink color is extremely vibrant, and it almost appears to “glow in the dark” when in dim or dark lighting; it’s a very vibrant coloring.
The New Wave dildo seems like it was really intended for pleasure between two people. Whether those people be two females, a male/female (with anal for the guy) or what have you, this dildo really seems like it was made for two people to share the dildo. This is because it’s just so long and so flexible in the middle. The middle of this silicone double dildo squishes together and features a lot of flexibility. This makes it comfortable between two people since it gives them room to have the dildo flex with them instead of holding firm. At the same time, the center of the dildo holds firm. Unlike those jelly and other unsafe types of double-ended dildos, this dildo includes relatively firm silicone that holds it shape – but does flex with pressure is applied too. The insertable ends are more firm which makes it easier for insertion, so you don’t have to worry about that.
The qualities that make this dildo fantastic for two people make it pretty bad for just one, though. It’s just too long! It’s easier to use with a partner using it ON you, but when it comes to self-use, it just ends up more problem than it’s worth. See, there’s not much of an area to hold onto that isn’t the other end of the dildo. And if you hold onto the opposite shaft of the dildo, that means you have to deal with the dildo being a bit unruly because of the large flexibility found in the middle of the dildo. That flexibility, again, makes it wonderful for two people, but a bit awkward for solo use. It CAN be used solo, but in a comparison of that and other dildos out there, the “other dildos” category would win for ease of use.
On that note, one of the sides of the dildo (not sure why it’s only one and not both) include a small bump near the middle shaft intended for clitoral stimulation. This bump is not too pronounced, and you’ll only even begin to feel it under certain sex positions where the dildo is positioned up against your body and not pulled away from it. (Which will not be most of them) With that, though, the bump really doesn’t make much of a difference. Maybe I don’t have the anatomy for it, but it really wasn’t all that noticable during use. It didn’t really bother me, either, though, so I must say that it’s a decent addition. If it doesn’t bother those who can’t use it AND does add some stimulation for those who can, that sounds like win-win to me.
Between the two ends, I must admit that I don’t feel too much of a difference in use. one end has slight squiggles in the shaft, but it doesn’t seem to make too much of a difference in use. It feels slightly more interesting, but I wouldn’t say that it makes for a more intense experience. The smooth end actually ends up having a larger diameter, though, by about a half-inch, so I tend to enjoy the squiggly end more. If you like larger, more filling toys, though, the smoother end will probably be your choice of side. On the smooth side, the dildo is slightly curved “away” from the g-spot, which I find odd, but I doubt turning the slight curve towards the g-spot would have made a difference for most anyway.
To clean this pink, silicone dildo, you just use warm water and antibacterial soap. It can be sterilized in a water/bleach solution if you’d like, and it’s also possible to boil it for sterilization, but that would require a pretty large pot that would be able to hold the full dildo; the dildo is squishy, but I’m unsure if squishing it down to a small size while boiling might harm the silicone. So I haven’t tried it. The silicone does tend to pick up hair and lint, so it’s definitely good if you keep it in a storage bag. As it’s way larger than most dildo storage bags, though, keep it in the original packaging may be your best bet to keep it clean. For lubricant, this pretty pink dildo is only compatible with water-based lubricants.
Overall, I just have to admit that I’m impressed with the New Wave double ended dildo by FunFactory. Most double-ended dildos are porous materials and have virtually no thought put into the design. This one, by FunFactory, though, is made from body-safe silicone, is easier to share between two people, and has two different sensations to let you and your partner get what’s best for you. I still recommend it best for sharing between partners (instead of solo use).
