As I’ve learned in multiple seminars and from experience, the smallest of the sizes tend to be more irritating and dangerous than using some of the medium sizes. Stick with the medium-small sizes if you’re new to urethral play, and of course, read up on safety and usage before you play. One of the huge concerns about urethral sounds is how smooth and comfortable they are. Having sharp edges on urethral sounds can cause abrassions, and absolutely nobody likes those. Luckily for us, the MEO Pure Perversion Sound Set seems to be entirey smooth. Alongside use, I’ve run my fingers all over all of the tips, and I haven’t found a single sharp edge that you should be concerned about. The handles can be sharp in places, but they shouldn’t be inserted into the urethra. The sounding ends are completely smooth – even near the oval-like tips.
All of the sounds in this kit are “smooth”. Some urethral sounds have some texture or ripples to them – which, while they can be pleasurable can be harder for beginners to use properly. These have an entirely smooth surface that makes them easier to insert and lubricate thoroughoutly.
Making it easy to handle, these urethral sounds have a decent, geometrical “handle” on the ends. The handle is also made from metal, so if your hands are slippery from lube, it can make things a bit hard to grip, but wiping up your hands and the toy will help. The handles do add a decent amount of “width” to the sound that makes it easier to handle than if the entire length had been the slim profile of the rest of the sound.
You will need to use a bit of patience with these sounds. Unlike some sounds with feature the thickness of the tip throughout the entire sound, the MEO Pure Perversion urethral sounding kit only includes the thickness in an oval at the tip. This means the sounds can be a lot more “bendy” than some other types of urethral sounds. As long as you don’t go about trying to “force” things into the urethra (which you shouldn’t do anyway), you’ll find no problem with this bendiness – even if you’ve never played with sounds before.
I’m not sure most kinksters will find much of a use for the largest and the smallest of the urethral sound sizes included in this kit. While hardcore kinksters might work their way up to the largest sizes, the smaller sizes seem a bit more problematic than useful for inclusion in the kit. I’d rather see the smaller sizes removed and a bit more incremental sizes included in their replacements. However, the kit is fantastic as-is.
A huge added bonus to this set is the case that the urethral sounds come in. Not only does it zipper open and zipper closed, but it includes small elastic bands in the case that help keep the urethral sounds organized and exactly where they’re supposed to be. The case even includes a thick plastic “wall” that helps keep the sounds from banging up against one another. Even when carried, the urethral sounds are entirely discreet, and they make no extra noise. This zipper case only includes a single zipper with no “locking” area, so it doesn’t look like it was designed to be locked.
Cleaning your urethral sounds is of the UTMOST IMPORTANCE. SERIOUSLY. I could capitalize this entire paragraph – that’s how important it is. You’re introducing things to the urethra – which is pretty close to the bladder. To avoid UTIs and introducing dangerous things into the body, you need to clean your urethral sounds properly. Do so with medical-grade cleansers and sanitization; your urethra sounds are made of a non-porous material that makes it possible. PLEASE read all of the safety information you can get your hands on about sounding before you try it for the first time.
When it comes to lube, MEO does sell a “Very Clean” lubricant especially designed for urethral play. However, most experts usually recommend using a sterile medical lube for the most safety. I’d recommend getting ahold of the sterile, single-packet medical lube if you can get your hands on it.
