Of course, it wouldn’t take long until ‘technology” managed to squirm its way into sex toys, and the Luxe Touch-Sensitive Vibrator by CalExotics (and sold by BoudoirNoir) is one of those such toys. Equipped with 10 vibration patterns, this vibrator’s intensity level is controlled by how much pressure is currently squeezing the shaft. More pressure means stronger vibrations. The vibrator is made from body-safe silicone and is entirely waterproof. The toy is rechargeable, and it’s 6.5″ in length with a diameter of 1.5″. The Luxe Touch-Sensitive vibrator is available in multiple color options. This silicone vibrating dildo also features a multi-functional base that lends itself well to suction cup use and strap-on harness use.
I was a bit surprised by how large the Luxe Touch-Sensitive Vibrator packaging was. The dildo itself isn’t particularly thick or long, but the packaging is one of the largest boxes I’ve ever seen a sex toy come in. (I’m talking about the sex toy’s packaging – not the shipping packaging) Inside the box, you’ll find the vibrator sitting in a foam tray specifically designed for its shape. The toy also includes a charging cable. Otherwise, it seems like a surprisingly large box for the small amount of stuff that the box actually contains. Regardless, the box is pretty sturdy, and it can be used to store the sex toy as long as you don’t require the box to be entirely discreet.
The Luxe Touch-Sensitive Vibrator has a pretty basic design. The entirety of the toy is made of silicone. There’s a very, very small seam that runs around both sides of the dildo, but honestly, you’re not going to notice it during use. There’s no texture on the shaft itself, and the only design change is the very, very slight pronounced head at the tip. There’s a single control button at the base of this touch-sensitive vibrations dildo. Pressing the button turns the toy on and allows you to cycle through all of the vibration modes. Holding the button down will turn off the toy.
As you’ll notice from the photos, the Luxe vibrator offers a nice, wide, flared base. This base lends itself well to a couple uses. For one, the concave design at the base allows the base to function as a suction cup. Press this toy up against a flat surface, it sticks particularly well. I haven’t had much luck making it stick on walls without any extra support, but it sticks on floors or other tiled/bathroom surfaces without any problem. Just don’t make it fight gravity.
In addition to that, the Luxe Touch-Sensitive Vibrator also works particularly well in a strap-on harness. The base is nice and thin underneath the layer of the harness, so it doesn’t poke painfully into the vulva or abdomen. That being said, if you’re someone that tends to “grind” into the base to receive your own stimulation during strap-on sex, I’d recommend adding another vibrator or other sensation-causing item into your harness as the concave design of this base makes it difficult to make regular contact with the base during penetration. However, it’s extremely comfortable to strap-on.
Like previously mentioned, this vibrating touch-sensitive sex toy is entirely rechargeable. There’s a small rechargeable port on the base opposite the control button. The Luxe comes with a decent-length USB cable that plugs into the base of the toy and charges it. It will take about 4 hours for a full charge, and the vibrator will run at the highest speed for an hour on a single charge. It will run on the lowest speed for 1.5 hours. You’ll likely get about an hour and fifteen minutes out of a single charge during use since it will likely not be on the highest intensity the entire time.
I was a bit surprised to find that this touch-sensitive vibrator seems to respond to pressure throughout the entirety of the shaft. The toy DOES respond. The claims of “touch-sensitivity” are not overstated. When pressure is applied to the first 5″ of the toy (counting from tip down towards the base), the vibrations throughout the entire toy get noticeably more intense – and when pressure is removed, the vibrations get softer again.
That being said, the intensity change isn’t a huge change – and it isn’t a mind-blowing change either. It’s almost double the vibration intensity from the “softest” setting to the “strongest” setting. Since the vibrations weren’t mind-blowing to begin with, this makes it just moderate in intensity at the strongest setting. That being said, it’s not a bad feeling. As most people are going to be using this vibrating dildo as a penetrative toy, this should be more-than-enough intensity to enjoy the vibrations inside your body. There’s no reason to need a wand massager’s intensity for dildo toys for most people.
I also haven’t been able to figure out how to adjust the vibration intensity manually. As far as I can tell, the vibration intensity can only be adjusted by pressure sensitivity on the shaft. The sex toy doesn’t seem to come with any instructions, and from the instructions written on the box, that seems to be the way the toy operates. For most casual use of the Luxe sex toy, this “touch-sensitive control only” design will likely be just fine. As you feel yourself getting tenser and tenser as you experience waves of pleasure, the vibrating dildo will up the intensity as well – all on its own with no command from you.
At the same time, if you’re someone who tends to depend upon internal vibrations (and their intensity increasing) to reach orgasm, you might find the Luxe to be somewhat frustrating. The inability to precisely control the intensity with the moderate-intensity vibrations might be a non-starter for you.
That being said, many users of penetrative toys like this aren’t using them as the “sole” focus of all of their pleasure. They tend to use a dildo alongside their hand, with a partner, or with other types of stimulation. With that type of use in mind, the Luxe offers a nice “set it and forget it” type of sensation to it – a vibrating sensation that will even get more intense as you tighten around it. For that use, it’s great.
Being entirely waterproof, the Luxe vibrating dildo is pretty simple to clean as well. We’ve honestly just taken it into the shower for a full clean after sex, but you can clean it however you’d like. Anti-bacterial soap with its entirely-smooth design makes this a very simple and easy toy to care for. A condom fits very comfortably over the toy for simple clean-up. Along with that, make sure to use water-based lubricant when slickening up this toy. For storage, the toy doesn’t come with a pouch or anything else. However, the box will work just fine for storage – but be aware that the box isn’t particularly discreet, and it’s particularly large for the size of the toy. You may wish to keep it in a pouch or plastic zipped baggie of your own.
Overall, the Luxe Touch-Sensitive Vibrating Dildo is going to be an amazing addition to play for people who don’t want to manually adjust the vibration intensity and who tend to use their dildo vibrations as an accessory to a “main event” – and not the focus itself. The toy itself is fun to play with, and the touch sensitivity responds pretty well, but being unable to manually adjust the intensity can make it occasionally very frustrating when a “little boost!” would get you to the finish line. As such, with its good functions, silky-soft silicone, and versatile base, I find that the Luxe vibrator is a fantastic choice for people who tend to use vibrations in a dildo as “icing on the cake” and not the main focus itself.
