For those who want the ultimate in locking, padded mitts, the San Francisco Bondage Mitts from MEO.de are there to please. Featuring thick padding with two layers of leather and a tight strap closure with a locking post (with included lock and key for each mitt!), these mitts provide everything someone would need to instantly utilize their new bondage toys straight out of the box. Each mitt is also equipped with 2 D-rings for further bondage opportunities.

Packaging for the Lockable, Padded “San Francisco” Bondage Fist Mitts

The Lockable and Padded “San Francisco” Fist Mitts come in standard MEO.de packaging – that is, a sealed plastic bag that must be destroyed in order to get the toy that’s inside. The gloves had a little insert about care of leather and a bit of basic bondage safety, but it’s clear that MEO.de is an entirely-online company, and their items are packaged to get them to you safely – not so much to display on store shelves.

A quick description of these beautiful mitts is in order. As mentioned above, these mitts are outfitted with two layers of leather (and smell great!) and come complete with a locking strap system around the wrists. The entirety of the mitt area is padded, and the padding seems to be evenly distributed around the entire mitt’s surface. The mitt is durably made, and for further proper fit, the strap area around the wrist also features Velcro attachments to get as close to the skin as possible. The two D-rings are located around the perimeter of the mitt – one on the side closest to the body and the other on the side away from the body. The wrist strap system is attached by multiple rivets along the leather length, and the entire cuffs seem extremely (and impressively) well-made.

Like any bondage item, being able to put these onto your partner easily is a must-have. These slide on particularly well once you learn what you’re doing – and have put them onto someone a couple times. The entire wrist area of the bondage mitts can be unfastened which leaves the entire wrist area a lot more spacious. This allows the wearer to make a duck-shape with their hands and slide the hand in – similar to fisting someone, really. Once that’s on, it’s just a matter of the other partner locking the straps on the person’s wrists and fastening up the mitts.

These would be particularly hard, if not impossible, to put on and lock by yourself. You could probably get them on, but getting them fastened would be very difficult and getting them locked would be near impossible.

Like the name implies, these mitts are not lacking in the “padded” or the “locking” aspect. The entire tip of the mitt is padded – and particularly well, I might add. It’s going to virtually reduce all pressure on the fingers when putting a good chunk of bodyweight onto a fist. I wouldn’t use it for doing handstands, but for crawling around, it’s more-than-enough padding. The hands are particularly comfortable – even after crawling around for long periods of time.

The mitts aren’t lacking in the “locking” aspect either. In fact, there are multiple buckles these mitts need to go through. First, like a standard belt, the wrist strap needs to be fastened and pulled through a standard belt buckle. Once you finish with that, the “post” of that belt buckle happens to be a large metal pole – with a hole for a lock to go through it and prevent the leather strap from getting back off the pole until the key is removed. The San Francisco Mitts then have another strap point around the wrist that helps hold the excess leather material against the wrist and keeps it from flopping around. This is definitely more-than-enough protection to keep the wearer from being able to remove the mitts without the key.

Padded mitts like this can be used for various bondage scenes. They basically make the fingers entirely unusable. This can function as an anti-masturbation device on its own. With the added padding, this means these mitts can work for scenes where you ask the person to put their weight on their padded hands – such as pet play or just humiliating crawls around the floor (puppy play fist mitts). ABDL-play also regularly uses padded fist mitts for such a thing.

The Lockable, Padded “San Francisco” Bondage Fist Mitts (Right) compared to the Bondage Fist Mitts from MEO.de (Left)

Unlike other mitts you may have, the Lockable, Padded “San Francisco” Fist Mitts might take a bit longer to get in and out of. Part of this is because how close the metal post (for locking) is located next to the buckle loop. It’s extremely close. Which means the leather is already in a bit of a curved position while you’re trying to put it on the post. Over time and use, I think the leather will soften up and make it a bit easier to fasten easily, but right now, it’s definitely frustrating and more difficult to do than I’d like.

These locking mitts do come complete with a lock and key from MEO.de. However, the mitts use standard tiny-lock holes, so you could replace these locks with any locks from your collection if you’d rather. The locks are also not required for use, so if you forget the locks at home, the gloves will still stay fastened with no problem. Have you ever tried to watch someone undue their belt buckle when they can’t use their fingers? It will be about as effective as watching your captive try to undo the mitts – even without the locks on them. It won’t be unescapable, but it will be difficult.

If you’ll do a quick search on the MEO.de site, MEO.de also sells other mitts called the Bondage Fist Mitts. If you need a more affordable option, they certainly work just fine. However, there are noticeable quality differences between the two. The padding on the cheaper mitts is much less thick, but it’s still workable. The more affordable gloves also aren’t locking, so they can’t be locked onto someone. While the more affordable gloves are certainly high-quality feeling, they don’t feel quite as leather-y and durable as the San Francisco Bondage Mitts.

Cleaning something like these gloves does require a bit of extra care. As they’re made of leather, you shouldn’t be using any type of harsh soaps on them. Instead, a slightly damp washcloth should allow you to clean up the leather pretty easily. Consider using leather cleaner if you’ve done something particularly rough with the material. For storage, I’d recommend keeping these mitts somewhere where they won’t be squished or moist. Somewhere with decent air circulation, outside of the direct sunlight, and packaged well would be your best bet. They should fit in a shoe box together, and as long as it’s stored in a standard closet, that would be the best simple storage solution. Don’t forget to store the keys with the locks as well.

A quick tip I always learned was that you always store the locks with the keys already in them. When you pull out the lock, you’ll already know which key belongs to which lock and you’ll ensure that you have the keys to unlock your locks – no accidentally stuffing someone in an unlockable (literally!) predicament.

Overall, if you’re looking for an option that will genuinely keep your captive from being able to use their hands – and will offer enough padding to ensure that they’re comfortable crawling around, the San Francisco Bondage Mitts are a fantastic choice. They’re going to take a bit to break them in, but they do everything they promise, and they’re pretty much the only pair of bondage mitts you could possibly ever want or not. Thanks to MEO.de for providing these locking and padded bondage mitts for my San Francisco Bondage Mitts review.
