Lil Teaser Dotty Review

Lil Teaser Dotty
The packaging

UPDATE MAY 2020: The Lil Teaser Dotty is no longer in production. CalExotics (their new, “hip” name) is still around, but they do not make this vibrator anymore. This vibrator review remains as a reference.

The Lil Teaser, Dotty Version, is a small little vibrator made by California Exotics that was intended to be portable and discreet. It’s made of silicone and is a little over four inches long. The little “handle” on this is made of plastic and screws off as the battery compartment. At it’s widest point, it has a diameter of less than an inch. While this could possibly be used for insertion, I’d mostly recommend this for clitoral and external use because of the small size of this sex toy. The Dotty comes in purple, and the silicone body has a slight curve towards the tip that leans into having two small silicone dots on the inside portion of the silicone.

The Dotty comes in a regular-looking see-through plastic box that advertises the features. It includes information about the sex toy on the outside. On the inside, the vibrator and the included battery sit in a plastic tray. This packaging is relatively suitable for storage. It wouldn’t hold up to any sort of weight being placed on the box, but it will protect your Dotty from any sort of fuzzies or rubbing up against other sex toys.

The vibrations on this are honestly about as basic as you could go. The little bottom “handle” piece unscrews off to insert the N battery. (I’m not fond of the N battery. I’d rather use little watch batteries than attempt to deal with N batteries.) From there, you just screw back on the little cap to use the vibrator. Really. That’s what you do. Instead of having a dedicated on/off switch, this little guy actually just turns on when you have fully tightened the cap with the battery in. That means that, yes, this is a single speed vibrator as well. The vibrations are relatively moderate – it’s what you’d expect from “Medium” setting on most other vibrators. The setting isn’t really all that quiet – it could be heard with someone in the same room, but unless someone was really trying to hear through a closed door, it wouldn’t be heard. For piece of mind, you could always choose to turn on some music just in case.

The motor for the Dotty is focused closer to where the handle of the vibrator is. This means that the silicone towards the bottom has the motor underneath it, so it isn’t very pliable. However, the upper 1/3 of the vibrator does not have a motor underneath it, so it’s very, very flexible. The silicone conducts the vibrations really nicely throughout the full body of the toy.

I’m honestly not sure what the little handle is for. It makes me feel like I should be using this as a Christmas Ornament in the holiday season. It really made absolutely no difference for me for handling – in fact, it seems like it got more in the way than anything else. I think I would have appreciated a different type of handle-hold for this one, but the ring wasn’t horrible – it was a neat idea, I’ll give it that. But now it tempts me to want to place it on my keyring.

Besides being slightly awkward, what did I like about this? Honestly, I enjoyed the little dots on the Dotty. They provided an interesting sensation during use. They basically operate under the same assumption that the rabbit vibrators do with their little “ears”. With a light touch, the dots tended to vibrate really interestingly with the vibrations on, so it felt pleasurable and teasing and much different than pressing the fully body of the toy to you. The full body of the toy does work decently as well, but it wasn’t anything amazing. It’s definitely the lighter side of things.

That’s something that did bother me – I wish there were multiple speed settings on this. I’m someone that enjoys being able to “work up” to a higher vibration level. When it came to this single-speed toy, that was impossible. The single-speed wasn’t exactly amazingly satisfying either because it was moderate in intensity. However, I’ve used so many toys that it’s amazing, so I have developed a slight preference and “defense” again a lot of lower vibration levels.

So what is this good for? It is discreet; I’ll give it that. This could be slipped into your purse and toted around without feeling like you’re carrying around a huge rabbit. It’s great for travel because of the small size. Because of the noise level though, I wouldn’t attempt to use this in a bathroom because it’d be obvious. This could be inserted and used for g-spot pleasure if you wanted, but I honestly didn’t have much success with that, and the silicone is really flexible, so it may not provide a lot of sensation for the g-spot. It does work relatively decently as a clitoral toy though if you are sensitive or want to introduce this as a new toy to your partner. I enjoyed the dots on the surface of the vibe.

To clean this one, you’re going to want to use warm water and antibacterial soap. It’s only compatible with water-based lubricant. For storage, I’m choosing to keep this in the original packaging, but I honestly haven’t had any problems with this picking up fuzz.

Overall? It’s not a bad toy, but I feel like it tries to cover too many bases without successfully excelling at any. It tries to be small and discreet, but it’s a little too loud for that. It tries to be a good clitoral toy, but the one-speed tends to make it difficult. It does work relatively well for a woman with a sensitive clitoris though, so if you fit the bill, this one’s worth checking out for the price. Cal Exotics provided this toy for me for review.
