A Liebe Seele Angel’s Kiss Bullwhip review? Let’s do it.

Salmon-pink and part of the Angel’s Kiss line, the Liebe Seele Angel’s Kiss Bullwhip offers the fun of a whip in a compact, easier-to-use-at-home package. Made from salmon-pink cow leather, this bullwhip is fully braided from tip to thong to handle. Not only does this make for a unique look, but it also aids in its durability for whatever type of play you’d like to throw at it.

As with all bullwhips, the Angel’s Kiss bullwhip is extremely flexible. The handle has a rigid support structure under it (I’d guess wood) while the entire thong is flexible and can wiggle any which way. The entirety of the tip flows along with the portion of the thong that it’s attached to; it has minimal flexibility or movement on its own with a thick, semi-rigid surface. (Seems to be made up of multiple layers of cowhide leather, but you can read more about that below.)

The Liebe Seele Angel’s Kiss Bullwhip is 35.4 inches in total length with a handle length of 6.3 inches. (From tip of top knot to bottom of lower knot). The “actual” space for a hand within the two handle knots is a little under 4.5 inches. The Angel’s Kiss Bullwhip weighs 150.5 grams – which is about a third of a pound.

Liebe Seele Angel’s Kiss Bullwhip: Not for Beginners

As with most things “whip”, this is not for beginners.

It is easier to handle than a full-size whip – but it isn’t as easy to handle as a paddle or flogger. In fact, the smaller size of the Liebe Seele Angel’s Kiss is part of what can make it so dangerous: because it is a bit easier to control, it can be easier to assume you’re ready to handle it – even if you aren’t. This can lead to cutting skin and causing pain you never meant to cause.

There’s nothing wrong with a kink toy being more difficult to handle. Every impact toy on the planet isn’t designed to used by a beginner.

But it is important to note – and to not allow the Angel’s Kiss Whip‘s smaller size to assume that it’s easier to handle for a beginner.

Exactly like my partner did.

When they picked up the whip off my desk, said it was adorable, and started swinging it around with words of, “Look, I’m a domme!”. Until they promptly got a bit of wrap-around on a swing, and the tail came backwards after a swing and left a bright, red welt on her own forearm.

Then she promptly put the Liebe Seele Angel’s Kiss Ostrich whip back down on my desk again.

Point is: don’t be my partner. Respect the fact that the Angel’s Kiss whip is still a whip – despite being shorter – and it will likely require a decent chunk of practice to get to a point where you’re safe to handle it during a scene. Consider it part of the fun.

Liebe Seele Angel’s Kiss Review: Construction

Now that we have the scary safety warnings out of the way, let’s talk about how the Angel’s Kiss Ostrich braided bull whip is built.

And that is: entirely out of braided, dyed-salmon-pink cowhide leather. This salmon cowhide leather has a unique texture to it; there are small, protruding dots all along the entirety of the leather. These “dots” can be felt with your fingers too – though they’re impossible to feel with the flesh during an actual strike.

It’s really nice to see that the entire bullwhip is made from the same material. The same braiding and material used in tip is used in the handle. The hanging strap, still, has the same material. It gives the entire piece a really uniform look, and it adds to the durability. As the material of the toy is one, large piece of the same material, it reduces the likelihood of fraying from the amazing uses you’re going to put the Angel’s Kiss bullwhip through.

And if you love the material and color, it’s awesome that the Angel’s Kiss bullwhip is part of the entire Angel’s Kiss bondage line from Liebe Seele which includes wrist cuffs, a blindfold, a flogger, a collar, a crop, a spreader bar, a cat’o’nine tails, and more.

(It’s a really unique color. It isn’t pink, but it isn’t red. It’s more like a salmon pink coloration that I rarely see in kink toys. Generally, BDSM gear chooses to go with a fire-engine, sultry red or a feminine, playful pastel pink. It’s a nice, unique middle ground.)

The tip of the bullwhip is a long, flat, piece of the material. This long, flat piece is braided directly into the thong (long flexible part that connects the handle to the tip). This tip is also three (maybe four?) layers of the cowhide material with white, contrasting thread to sew them together. The edges appear to have been really finely sanded down (no extra fluffs or stray threads) and potentially sealed with something. It is not easy to find the unique leather layers along the tip.

All of this means that the tip is really designed for play. Braided into the bullwhip’s thong, it isn’t going to unravel or untie itself and break. The tightly-sewn design with fully-finished edges means that the tip lands with a nice heft while simultaneously ensuring that no extra sensations (you didn’t mean to cause!) are coming along for the ride.

My finger pulls out the hanging/wrist loop at the base of the handle to showcase its wide size. The loop is clearly large enough to work for a wrist loop. Image for Liebe Seele Angel's Kiss Whip review.

The hanging strap on the handle end of the Angel’s Kiss bullwhip appears to be made up of two layers of the salmon-pink material, sewn together with the same white threading. The same above-average attention to detail was not paid to the hanging strap (nothing wrong with that; it’s much less important to play), and there are a few loose white threads. Instead of being made directly from the same piece of leather as the handle, it looks like the hanging strap was either glued in or sewn into the handle’s base knot to keep it in place.

While the hanging strap is more flexible than the tip, it is still relatively stiff, and it feels a bit bulky when wrapped around the wrist for use.

All of the cowhide leather – including the tip and the hanging strap – feature the same color and interesting “dotted” texture.

Liebe Seele Angel’s Kiss Review: The First Use

It’ll take quite a few weeks of reshaping the Angel’s Kiss whip after you receive it for the best results. The Angel’s Kiss bullwhip comes wrapped up, in an oval, in a snug bag from manufacturing. This, unfortunately, left the whip with some leather memory, and it continually wanted to wrap back into an oval shape – even during use.

This constant leather memory led to it being a bit unwieldy to use at first. After attempting to aim it a few times upon first receipt, I specifically “noped” out of using it on a partner. It was too unpredictable. The two large bends in the cowhide leather material meant that the whip would bend unexpectedly with swings.

You can see this “memory” within the pictures of the toy; it wants to bend a certain way at two large spots on the whip.

I hold the Liebe Seele Angel's Kiss Whip upright. The whip is clearly folded into thirds, and it bends into these thirds without any pressure being applied to it because the material has a "memory" from being stored in the packaging. Image for Liebe Seele Angel's Kiss Whip review.

We ended up placing it under large textbooks for a few weeks – rotating exactly how it fell underneath the textbook every couple of days or so. After a few weeks of this, the Angel’s Kiss bullwhip’s pre-determined memory was a lot weaker. I was able to use it. Hanging it via the hanging loop for the next month seemed to fully work out the rest of the curvature of the toy, and it now hangs straight.

Liebe Seele definitely needs to consider a new way to package and ship this whip. They may consider a long bag – instead of a shorter one that wraps up the bullwhip. Allowing the Angel’s Kiss whip to lay flat in the warehouse – and only bend temporarily during shipping – may also help with reducing the memory.

Liebe Seele Angel’s Kiss Bullwhip Review: Use

The fun thing about shorter bullwhips like this is that they can be used in close quarters. A large downside of many full-sized whips is their inability to be used outside of a dedicated 15-foot whip-safe space.

That isn’t the case with the Angel’s Kiss bullwhip. It can easily be used within tight quarters – including your own bedroom. One partner can kneel on the bed or stand against the wall – and the other partner can easily use the Angel’s Kiss braided bullwhip on them. You’ll still want to ensure you have a clear space around you, but the foot of most people’s bed will likely work as a just-fine space to use this bullwhip.

Grip is important for handling a ultra-sensitive toy like a bullwhip, and the Angel’s Kiss’s braided design helps with that. The braiding that runs throughout the entire toy also runs through the handle to keep my hands in place – even when they get sweaty from play. The two “knots” on either side of the handle help keep my hand from sliding. I have about an inch left of free space when fully gripping the handle – and I generally wear large-sized gloves.

The Liebe Seele Angel’s Kiss braided bullwhip also comes with a wrist strap/hanging strap at the base of the whip, but I’ll admit that I generally ignore it. I find that wrapping it around my wrist tends throw off my handling of the bullwhip for play. The leather feels too stiff and ungiving against my wrist – compared to the fabric options you find in many whips. But if you find that it helps ensure the toy stays in your hand, it’s there for moral support. Plus, it makes for easy hanging to ensure the bullwhip stays kink-free.

Once you have it in hand, though, as mentioned above, be careful! The Angel’s Kiss bullwhip handles exactly like you’d expect a bullwhip to handle, but it certainly isn’t a paddle, riding crop, or flogger: it requires some skill to aim correctly.

Most beginners will likely start with gripping the handle in one hand – and using their second hand to run along the length of the Angel’s Kiss braided bullwhip until the whip is fully lengthened. From there, the second hand lets go, and the first, handle-gripping hand provides a very gentle, light flick of the wrist.

Don’t be misled: that very gentle, light flick of the wrist can still do a lot of pain. The tip of the bullwhip is traveling with a lot of speed; where it lands on the body (and hopefully with minimal wrap around) can cause serious sensation. This should not be used lightly – or without some practice in aiming.

As you get more proficient with the bullwhip, a bit of extra force on the wrist flick will change how heavily the Angel’s Kiss braided bullwhip touches the skin. More force can land sharply enough to cause welts or bleeding. Less force is still a sharp pain to be reckoned with.

If you determine that you’re not at a point where you can safely wield the Angel’s Kiss bullwhip (and seriously, good on you for recognizing your safe play limitations), don’t forget about the fun of using it as a prop. The Angel’s Kiss bullwhip looks scary – and utilizing its “scary” view can be a lot of fun.

As a bullwhip, the whip is entirely loosey-goosey in flexibility. This means it can be dragged easily along the skin for sensation play. Experiment with the weight and heft of the bullwhip by supporting more (or less) of the bullwhip’s weight with your arm strength to allow more (or less) of it to rest on the bottom’s skin.

If you’re proficient enough to handle the bullwhip – but not to safely aim it – consider letting the bottom watch, with fear in their eyes, as you “show off” the handling of the whip, safely away from human skin. Taunt them about how it’s going to feel when they need a “punishment” with it – or how much you’re looking forward to using it on their soft flesh. If impact play seems tempting after all of that fun, feel free to swap to a flogger, paddle, or something else you can easily handle.

Summary

If you’re willing to put in the practice and time to learn how to safely use a bullwhip, the Angel’s Kiss bullwhip is a fantastic option. Not only is it much shorter than your standard whip (for easier bedroom use), but the beautiful braided material feels durable – and handles really nicely. The braided handle adds extra stability during use, and the long, thick tip of the bullwhip really packs a punch. It’s pretty much impossible for a bottom to ignore.

I really wish Liebe Seele would rethink their packaging for the Angel’s Kiss. Waiting over a month to feel comfortable with its unbound state to use the toy was frustrating. With a toy like this, where precision is key, memory in the leather can be a safety issue – and having to “retool” my own toy is frustrating.

Once the whip is fully flattened out, though, the Liebe Seele Angel’s Kiss has a lot to offer – and it offers it in a durable, pretty-pink design that stands out in a world of black bullwhips.

Just make sure you’re willing to put in the time and practice to safely handle a bullwhip. This one handles well – but it’s not something you can easily pick up and wield.
