UPDATE AUGUST 2021: I still like the premise of the Heart Wedge. However, with the limited width room, we tend to use the Liberator Original Wedge more often for when we’re elevating me. For my much-slimmer partner, we will pull out the Heart Wedge – or the Liberator Jaz. So, still a great product, still holding up well multiple years later, but if you have wider hips, I definitely recommend the full-sized Original Wedge for more support.
The Liberator Heart Wedge is a cute, seasonal sex shape from Liberator that is intended to be a more romantic version of the Liberator Wedge. The Heart-Shaped Wedge, unlike other Liberator shapes, has a velvish cover instead of the usual microfiber cover of most shapes. It’s about nineteen inches in width, about a foot in length, and comes up to a height of seven inches. As you can tell, the Heart Wedge is in a shape of a heart which does make it a good choice as a decorative pillow. Like other shapes, the foam support is made from Liberator’s strong foam which keeps it holding tough under weight.
Like all other of my Liberator products I’ve received, it came in a discreet brown box. The little Heart Wedge easily slid out of the box. It had a small tag attached through the lining of the upper and waterproof layers. Taking the tag off, I did notice a small hole where the tag had been, but it didn’t honestly bother me. Along with the Wedge, there was also a small book of Liberator sex positions and other Liberator products to look at.
The Heart Wedge has two different “layers”. The outer-most layer is the velvish layer that is red and will be on the Wedge when you use it. It’s amazingly soft (softer than microfiber) and feels amazing on the skin. I’m actually really fond of this velvish material, and I’m hoping more shapes will be made with it. The inner layer is a waterproof layer that keeps your inner foam from getting ruined from liquids. There’s really no reason to ever need to remove this, but from my experience, wiping it down with a damp washcloth does a good job of cleaning it up. In the middle of everything is the foam from Liberator. It’s nice, white, and fluffy. And if you keep the layers on, it will stay that way. However, if it gets dirty, it stays dirty, so don’t let it get hurt.
The Heart Wedge is intended as a neat “decorative” pillow as well as a sex pillow. As you can tell by the pictures, the Heart Wedge is actually in the shape of a nice, dark red heart. This heart is still made of foam, so it’s very firm, but it does end up looking like a pillow you could throw on a couch or use for decoration. I know we plan on taking ours out for Valentine’s Day. The only downside is that, for being a discreet pillow, the Liberator logo (which is not adult at all) is sewn into one of the sides of the pillow pretty largely. If you have any kinky friends, they’ll recognize it, but otherwise, most of your non-kinky friends will think nothing of it. It honestly does pass as a regular pillow without any problem.
The Heart Wedge does seem to differ a bit from the original Liberator Wedge. First off, it is quite a bit smaller in width. The Heart Wedge is about six inches smaller. This doesn’t make a difference unless you are a plus-size girl. I am a pretty big plus-size girl, and I just can’t as-comfortably use the Heart-Shaped Wedge as I do with the regular Wedge because of the lack of width. I do weight about three-hundred pounds, though, so again, most everyone will have no problem with the Heart Wedge. I also though, because of the shape of the Wedge and because it doesn’t have as much material, the foam is a lot easier to squish down. This means it isn’t quite as effective for me. However, for the boyfriend, it works amazingly to hold his hips up.
We were a bit concerned about how the point would feel on the Wedge. After all, there’s some material missing on both sides, so would it be uncomfortable? Surprisingly, no. For me, it seemed to be more noticeable (but not uncomfortable) but with my boyfriend’s 160 body, he said he couldn’t even feel the difference that well. He said that, if there was sex going on, there’d be no way he’d be paying attention to the difference.
You can use the Liberator Heart Wedge for all of the same positions that you can use your regular Wedge. For example, you can bend a person over the Heart Wedge to provide body support for a from-behind position. My favorite way to use the Wedge is to use it to elevate the lower part of the body during a missionary-type sex to allow better access to the g-spot. Really, using the Heart Wedge in this manner makes the angle of penetration more natural and makes sex feel so much better. It can also be used in that manner to make oral sex easier to do since it won’t cause as much strain on the neck.
So cleaning? It’s great. You just have to unzip the velvish cover which comes off really easily with the zipper that runs along the top side of the Heart Wedge. When it’s unzipped, the cover just slips off and can be thrown in the washer for cleaning. When done, it just slips back onto the Wedge with no problem. Since the waterproof layer protects the Heart Wedge nicely, you can use whatever lubricant you want and don’t have to worry about making a mess on the sex shape. Since it’s nice and discreet, you can keep it out in your bedroom, or it’s also small enough to throw in a closet as well.
Overall, I really like the Heart Wedge. I can’t use it as nicely as the boyfriend can, but I still like the look and feel of it for doing things like supporting my head during sex or just looking cute on my couch. It’s a neat idea from Liberator that helps make sex furniture a bit more socially acceptable – and easier to hide.
