Lesbian Sex: 101 Lesbian Lovemaking Positions is a book written by Jude Schell and published by Celestial Arts. The book has 224 pages and 101 different sex positions for lesbians. You can purchase this book at Good Vibrations. The book is, surprisingly, a hardcover book, and it’s also smaller in size than I expected; it’s about six inches tall and five inches wide. All of the pages are in full-color, and the vast majority of this book is pictures.
Each sex position in this book is given two pages. Each one of the lesbian sex positions also gets a picture – no position just has text. Along with the picture and the name of the position, you also get about two sentences that explains what the two partners are supposed to be doing in the position. It also explains anything extra like how to get into the position. Some sex position books can give the pros and cons of the position, but this lesbian sex position book doesn’t seem to do that. This one just gives a basic description of a position.
The book includes a lot of different positions. With most heterosexual sex position books, it’s usually just penis-meet-vagina-intercourse. However, as lesbians really don’t do that same type of intercourse, I was curious to see what would be included in the book. The book does a great job of varying it by including a ton of different types of positions. For example, there’s positions that focus on anal sex, positions that include strap-on harnesses, positions that are focused on oral sex, positions that focus on manual stimulation, positions that focus on rubbing the genitals together, and positions that focus on toys. The book does a good job of not just including the traditional “lesbian” sex positions by thinking outside the box and providing a bunch of different ways to experience each other’s bodies.
I am a bit disappointed in the models used for the book though. The three models, to be exact. While all of the women were natural in terms of breasts, they did all look a bit like models, and I would have loved to see a chubbier girl. One of the women did have piercings, though, so that was definitely different from the “norm” of sex position models. The photography is very clear, and you can easily see what is going on in each one of the positions.
The positions vary in difficulty. The ones towards the front of the book are more of the typical variations on missionary and basic positions, but as you get towards the back of the book, they start to require more flexibility. For example, some of them incorporate yoga positions while others require hanging off of the bed or grinding against your partner in a dexterious manner. It really depends on which positions you choose, but you can easily find positions in this book that will work for both the flexible and the not-flexible. The toys also can require some third-party objects such as a harness, different sex toys, chairs, beds, or other things. The book does a good job of mixing up the location of the positions, so not all of them will require a bed; some will require chairs or other types of furniture.
My favorite, favorite, FAVORITE aspect of this book is the “Checklist” at the back of the book. It shows minature pictures of all of the pictures through the book, the name of the position, and a check box next to the picture so you can mark off when you do it. Not only does this give you an easy way to keep track of what you’ve done, but you can easily look at all of the positions at a glance to figure out what you might be in the mood for. This is something that other sex position books should think about including at this is very helpful and makes navigating the book even easier.
Another neat aspect is the indexes. If you remember the position’s name, you can look it up by name in the index. Feel like having anal? Deep penetration? Clitoral focus? Friction? Oral? Toys included? The book also includes an addition index that indexes all of the positions by what the focus of the position is and if it includes toys. How helpful is that?!
Overall, I like Lesbian Sex: 101 Lovemaking Positions, but it also is not perfect. I love the organizational aspects that they’ve added, but I would have loved to see more details about the positions and more variety in the models. However, the book does do a good job of providing a ton of different lesbian sex positions for inspiration, with the small, discreet size, you can hide this easily if need be.
