LELO Olga Luxury Dildo Review

LELO Olga Luxury Dildo
The box for the dildo

UPDATE May 2020: Somehow, 10 years later, LELO is still selling this really-expensive stainless steel dildo. It IS a beautiful toy – and I love the packaging still. I’m still lost, though. Stainless Steel dildos regularly run in the $90 to $200 range. I’m not sure what this has to warrant literally $600 more than that – aside from the LELO brand. If you want it, have at it, but if you just like the shape of the toy, the Ella is just a bit less than $60 – and essentially the same toy. If you’re into stainless steel, just go for a stainless steel toy that won’t run you so much.

The LELO Olga is a gorgeous piece of sex toy workmanship. The Olga is stainless steel (not hollow) and is seven inches long with a diameter of 1 and 1/4 inches at the widest point though. (That point is on the shaft, long end of the toy. The diameter of the flat-head end is about an inch if not smaller.) The toy weighs 650 grams according to LELO, but for those of us who have no idea how much that is, it’s roughly a pound a half. Which doesn’t sound like much, but really, it’s heavy for a toy. Olga is basically the expensive, luxury version of the Ella g-spot dildo – which is a toy that a lot of women found their g-spot with.

Considering Olga is ten times more expensive than the Ella, it’s not meant to be your introduction to sex toys. Olga is intended as it’s marketed – as a luxury sex toy that’s there for those who really enjoy the Ella or those who really enjoy being spoiled by luxury toys.

You know what really won me over in my decision to purchase this? It’s pathetic, I promise. Okay, here goes – the packaging. Yes, the box. The box made me buy it. (Never heard that before.) Really though. While the rest of LELO products come in the cardboard black, discreet box, the Olga comes in a freakin’ wooden box. Polished, heavy, and downright sexy. It even has the little gold hinges which are orgasm-tastic. It comes with it’s own polishing cloth to keep the Olga shiny, warranty information, the instruction manual, and a small satin bag to store your Olga in case you are heartless and don’t want the (amazing) box.

The sexy box of the Olga

Basically, as you can guess, the Olga is just a stainless steel version of the LELO Ella. If you are unsure if you will like the shape, I strongly suggest purchasing the very-cheap-compared-to-Olga LELO Ella first. That will give you a chance to enjoy/or not enjoy the shape. Like I said before, a lot of women swear by the Ella as their favorite g-spot toy. I have a review over the Ella which discusses how I feel about the basic shape of the toy (which does apply to the Olga), so if you are curious in that, go check out that review. For a basic overview: the toy is easy to insert, but feels a bit short to properly hold onto it. It does lightly touch my g-spot, but leaves me desiring more, but that’s just because my g-spot is pretty deep. Other people have a better time with this one.  The other end just feels about like a regular dildo, but it is pretty easy to insert, and the pointy part doesn’t actually hurt or anything even though it’s a bit pointy.

So how does the Olga differ from the Ella? Well, it’s stainless steel, so it’s VERY slick. Which is a good and bad thing. See, with most stainless steel toys, there is a bulb or something to act as a handle. With a Purewand, you have the bulb on the other side – same with the Fun Wand. The Ella, if you are inserting the flat, g-spot head, doesn’t have any sort of “bulb” which makes it very difficult to comfortably thrust with. Unless you have a towel nearby to wipe your hands down after lubricating the toy, you are going to be the most frustrated person on the planet since it’s just so freakin’ difficult to keep ahold of the toy. So make sure you have a towel nearby. However, if you are using the shaft-end to insert, it’s much easier to hold onto because then you have the flat surface to hold onto.

On the plus-side of that, though, the Olga is so much easier to insert and thrust with because of the stainless steel. Since silicone tends to produce a slight drag and absorb lube, it can be annoying/painful after awhile if you keep thrusting. However, since stainless steel is completely smooth, it requires very little lubrication and slides it very smoothly and comfortably. It also provides a lot of heft and makes you feel more “full” than the Ella does. It makes you feel full just like a stainless steel toy only can. On that note, though, it also is pretty heavy. Because there’s so little handle to grasp onto, you do have to make a bit of an awkward motion to thrust the Ella, and as such, it can get tiring really quickly. Rubbing up against it with your body instead of thrusting with your hand seems to help with the fatigue. So to summarize, it’s difficult to hold and heavy, but it provides a full feeling and makes it easy to insert. (Another reviewer recommends using a ring of rubber along the edge of the Olga to make it easier to grasp)

Along with that, it also provides very strong g-spot pressure. The silicone wasn’t very flimsy and did a good job of that, but it was still a little flexible. With the stainless steel, there’s no give – at all. It will provide very strong g-spot pressure since it doesn’t bend or anything – where you put it is were it tends to stay. Anyone who has a relatively shallow g-spot should have no problem with the Olga reaching their g-spot. Mine in the deep cave, around a bend, and through a tunnel (metaphorically speaking), so not very much g-spot pressure for me. If most traditional g-spot toys work for you, this will too.

One of the biggest features of the Olga is the temperature ability. Silicone tends to stay relatively warm, but stainless steel (like Olga) will easily adjust to whatever temperature you want it to be. If you enjoy cold dildos, you can place it in chilly water. Hot? Warm water. Make sure to test the dildo on your own skin before inserting it. Also, stainless steel tends to have a sitting temperature of pretty cold, so add time in for warming up the toy before use as well. Because what feels chilly to a wrist is going to feel like an ice cube in warmer areas.

The LELO name etched into it

I would recommend Olga best for couples – while it will easily work for single people, I find it works better for couples just because it’s easier to keep a grasp on a toy when you aren’t bent at an awkward angle (which your partner wouldn’t be.) It works fine solo, though, but it just works better as a couple.

For a weight comparison, Olga is five times heavier than the .3 lb Ella – the silicone version of itself. It’s half as heavy as the Pure Wand and slightly lighter than the Fun Wand. So if you enjoy stainless steel toys, it’s smaller and more light-weight than other stainless steel alternatives. However, compared to any other material (glass, silicone), this is going to be a heavy surprise. For use comparison, any other stainless steel dildo is going to be easier to grasp and easier to use just because LELO should have taken into account the stainless steel’s ability to be omg-slick. I still would recommend the Olga if you love your Ella – just because it’s luxurious, feels amazing, and everything. I would recommend you have an idea in mind as to how to grasp it best though.

So cleaning? It’s a piece of stainless steel, so virtually anything. It can be boiled for sterilization as well as bleached or top-shelf-dishwasher. For regular cleaning, I recommend antibacterial and soap though be careful to not drop it since it might injure the *sink* (not the toy) if you do. Steel is pretty strong. For storage, I recommend keeping it in the original box. You are heartless if you throw away this wooden box – downright heartless.

So what do I recommend? The Olga is a gorgeous toy – and it’s meant to be a luxury toy as well. If you have tried the Ella and love it, this is an amazing step up – and will make you feel a princess when you go to use it. If you have wrist problems, I recommend against it since it does tire out the wrist. While I’d consider giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the difficulty grasping it, I didn’t downrate the Pure Wand nor other slippery toys because of it – it’s just a unfortunate feature of stainless steel.
