LELO Mia 2.0 (black) Review

LELO Mia 2.0 (black)
The Mia with the cap off

The LELO Mia is a small, plastic vibrator that is sold by this sex toys store and is intended for discreet sex. It’s a luxury vibrator made by LELO that measures about four inches in length with a diameter of less than an inch. It is a rechargeable vibrator that charges by USB.

The packaging for the new LELO Mia is gorgeous just like other LELO packaging. The outside is plain black box that shows the Mia’s design and features on the back with the logo on the front. This is definitely a great box for gift-giving. Inside this outer cardboard shell is a plain black box. The lid of this box can be easily removed to show the Mia, with seperate in the body and cap, sitting in a tray. Underneath the tray is the white storage bag, warranty information, and the instruction book as well as the charging cable. I like keeping all of my LELO toys in the original packaging, but they can be easily kept in the storage bag as there’s enough room for the Mia, the charging cord, and the instruction books.

The neat thing about the LELO Mia 2.0 is how it charges. Just like the original LELO Mia, this discreet vibrator charges by USB. It does not have any alternative way to charge, but consider that most household items usually have USBs on them now, this will work for most people. (Both of our computers and our gaming consoles have USB ports, and it will charge through all of them!) The Mia can connect directly into the USB port on a computer, and it can also use the included extension cord to connect if need be. The LED pulses while the vibrator it charging, and it glows steady when it’s done charging. The vibrator takes about an hour to fully charge, and I haven’t worn down the charge yet after a couple uses, so it stays charged pretty nicely.

The vibrations are on the moderate side. The original Mia’s vibrations were on the soft side, so this is a definite improvement. The vibrations are also more rumbly than the first. This vibrator may not get you to orgasm if you require stronger vibrations, but it is a good idea for a tease or for a vibrator to use in public. It also is a good choice for those who find that most traditional vibrators just end up being too strong.

The amazing thing with the new LELO Mia, just like the first one, is that the vibrations are SO quiet! I can’t hear the lower settings when I’m using the vibrator, and my boyfriend certainly couldn’t hear it. The moderate and higher moderate settings couldn’t be heard either. The only one that could be heard was the highest setting, and that’s only in the same room with no other sounds going on. So the highest setting could be heard in an abandoned bathroom (as a quiet buzz), but the moderate and lower settings could not. It’s impressive!

Of course, anytime you have a second generation product, half of the new product’s rating is how well it compares to the old product and if the problems of the first product were corrected with the second generation of the product. My two main complaints about the first-generation LELO were that the cap came off easily during use and that the vibrations just weren’t all that strong. Those were the two things that kept me from using it on a regular basis though I must say that I was definitely impressed by how quiet the vibrations were on it.

Does the black LELO Mia fix these problems? Where the old LELO Mia’s cap could easily be pulled off using two fingers and little effort, the new black Mia cap can not. It takes full hands and some good grips to pull off the cap, and this is a GOOD thing. The old cap used to come off too easily, and LELO rectified this problem by changing how the caps were made. The old vibrations were much, much more soft than the new LELO Mia vibrations. The old LELO Mia’s vibrations can not be felt through my clothing, but the new LELO Mia’s vibrations can easily be felt. The new LELO Mia also seems to operate at a much lower frequency, so there isn’t as much of a buzzy noise, and the vibrations on the black Mia are much, much more rumbly and deep.

Aside from that, the two vibrators are about the same. They are the same size and shape, but one is black and one is pink. Their storage options are the same, and they both have the same-size USB and the same controls. The biggest structural difference is in the caps. The older Mia has an empty cap where the USB slides in, but the new black Mia’s cap includes little grooves and ridges to help grip onto the USB when it is inserted into the cap to keep it from falling off as easily.

The LELO Mia is still not stronger than other vibrators. It’s strength is still only on the higher side of moderate, so don’t expect a powerhouse when you pick this up. However, it definitely is much stronger than the original, and it’s comparable to the vibration strengths of many of the discreet vibrators; it doesn’t compare to full-size vibrators, though. However, the best feature of the LELO Mia is the fact that it’s so discreet.

The interesting thing about using the LELO Mia is how the vibrations are set-up. The vibrations are strongest at the longer end of the vibrator where the controls are located, but the slanted cap on the opposite end makes me feel like that’s where I should be using it. I usually end up holding onto the cap while I use the long-side of the vibrator that is opposite the controls. When I tried this method with the the original Mia, the cap kept popping off which was an issue for me. However, with this Mia, the cap stays on much more tightly, and I had no issues with the cap coming off.

Cleaning the black LELO Mia can be difficult. It is very, very important that the USB port not get water into it, so you can not dunk this underwater nor can you directly run water over an entire half of the vibrator. I usually use a slightly damp washcloth and use a slight bit of soap on the washcloth to wipe it down. Make sure you clean the rubber around the USB port as it’s possible to get lubricant and bodily fluids in that crevice during use. It’s compatible with all types of lubricant, but again, be careful where you put the lube. For storage, I recommend keeping it in the original box or in the storage pouch that comes with it.

If you need a discreet vibrator, the LELO Mia is an amazing choice. It’s very, very quiet, and it doesn’t scream “vibrator” when you look at it. However, it is not a powerhouse, so don’t expect strong vibrations. Instead, it’s a good vibrator that provides moderate vibrations that could work well as a vibrator in public. Thanks to SexToy.com for sending me this vibrator for my LELO Mia Black review.
