The Leather Bondage Mittens are leather mittens made from Kink Lab and sold by Fun Wares adult toys. The mittens include lace-up sides to adjust for hand size as well as a locking buckle to add extra protection. The mittens also include a D-ring on the tip as well as a D-ring on the wrist portion for extra bondage points. The mittens are large enough to fit any-sized hand as well as most wrist sizes as well including most plus-size wrist sizes.
The packaging for these mittens is just a plain plastic bag. The mittens sit inside the plastic bag during shipping, and you can easily take them out of the bag after you’ve received them. The bondage mittens do come with a little KinkLab tag on them, but it’s extremely easy to remove after you’ve purchased the items.
We wanted these mittens as another way to try restraints. The boyfriend really enjoys the feeling of being restricted, so these mittens were going to help with that since they wouldn’t allow him to use his fingers. Plus, I’ve never been much of a fan of the full-arm wraps that some people use as it reminds me slightly of octopus tentacles, so these were perfect for us. When I received them, I kept that sentiment, and they’ve been really good for use as well as binding up the boyfriend. I’m definitely impressed with the quality.
The Bondage Mittens work very easily. It takes a bit of effort to put them on, but they are very simple. You slip the hand into one of the bondage mittens. From there, there is a lace-up along the side of the mitten that allows the mitten to adjust for larger forearms (this comes up about 1/3 up your forearm). The laces, much like a corset, just need to be tightened to the correct tightness for the person inside the mittens. If you tighten them too much, they can get uncomfortable (which may be your intent), so just make sure to communicate with your partner. After that, there’s a little belt-like strap along the wrist to keep it tightened onto your partner’s hands. There’s a little hoop, and you push the hoop through whichever belt-hole keeps the mittens tightly gripped onto your partner’s wrist. From there, you thread in a lock to keep them locked onto your partner. The mittens do not come with any locks, though, so you will need to purchase your own locks if you want to use that. If you don’t use it, the two belt-sides do flop around awkwardly, so I recommend using them. You can purchase really cheap locks at most stores.
How well does it restrict hand movement? Well, it doesn’t restrict movement of the hands at all, but it does restrict finer movement such as playing a video game or writing. You can still easily pick things up, but you won’t be able to write, type, or do any of the finer movements that require movement of the fingers and not just general grasping motions. If you want to restrict even the hand movement, you can use the D-rings on the end of the gloves to pull the two hands together and keep the person from moving their hands.
The Bondage Mittens don’t come with any way to connect the D-rings on the tip of the mittens, but you can use your own supplies to connect the two D-rings. The two D-rings are not removable which is actually slightly annoying as, when you place your hands on hard surfaces like glass or wood, the D-rings can make annoying clinging sounds when they hit the surface. For connecting the D-rings to each other, you can use a lot of different things. You can use rope you have around the house, or we’ve used those double-ended clips to connect them.
Along with the D-rings on the top of the mittens, there are D-rings at the base of the mittens where the wrist is as well. This makes it easy to do different types of bondage depending on how you want to restrict someone. The boyfriend says that the mittens are pretty comfortable as long as the side of the mittens aren’t laced up too tightly. He can’t do much of his regular things like homework or playing video games, but as long as something is large in size, he can easily fetch it. He says that there is plenty of room inside the gloves for your fingers to move around, so it isn’t too tight, and he has large fingers. When I put these on, the fit fine – even with my larger forearms, so unless you have very large forearms, you should be fine with the size of these mittens.
For cleaning, I highly recommend using a slightly damp washcloth and no soap. As these are leather, leather doesn’t like soap much, and most cleaning with these can be done with plain water. For storage, I recommend allowing them to lay flat to avoid getting creases in the leather if at all possible. Keep these away from bodily fluids or lubricants to avoid harming the leather.
Overall, if you want to restrict movement of the fingers, these work amazingly well. I’m a bit disappointed that there’s no way to lock them aside from using an actual lock, but the mittens do a great job of restricting finite movement. When it comes to pet play, this may be exactly what you need to get someone in the mindset, or for other submissive reasons, this may be perfect to remind someone that they aren’t allowed to do some of those finer movements. Thanks to FunWares sex toys for providing these restraints for my Leather Bondage Mittens review.
