Packaged together in a hard plastic storage case, the Mya Beads from L’amourose (and sold by SheVibe) are kegel balls designed to strengthen and tone the vaginal muscles. The set comes with a single kegel ball as well as a double kegel ball version. Made from plastic with a body-safe silicone functioning as the silicone girdle that holds the balls together and provides a retrieval string, these beads are offered in two different weights (and corresponding colors) to pick a size and weight that works best for your body and musculature. The double-ball version in each set weighs the same – choosing a weight amount will matter for the single ball version which is heavier in the Pro set.
The L’amourose Lite set is the lighter of the two. The single ball is 28g while the dual set is 76g. The Pro set is heavier. The single ball is 39g while the dual set is 76g.
If nothing else, you’re going to find yourself very impressed by the packaging of the Mya Beads. Much like the luxury image the brand is designed to convey, the packaging makes you think of the high-quality aspects of the toy. The beads are packaged in a small, plastic carrying case that snaps closed to protect your toy. The exterior packaging includes a black, well-designed box that includes information about the toy itself. Of course, it also comes with instructions.
Most people are going to come around to choosing the Mya Beads for their luxurious presentation – and they do a fantastic job at that. The beads themselves have a marbled-like appearance, and the packaging adds to the luxurious approach. The silicone girdles feel nice and silky smooth, and once you open the kegel balls, you’re really going to feel like these are some of the most luxurious kegel beads that you’ve ever tried. The plastic has a smoothness to it – as does the silicone.
When you get around to inserting them, the Mya Beads continue to work just as nicely. The plastic slickens really nicely by just adding a bit of lubricant, and while the beads don’t have that classic “divet” where your finger can go on the end of the bead to push it in, it isn’t a problem at all. If anything, the slightly-oval design of the beads helps make the beads easier to push in. As the retrieval cord is made from a nice, sturdy silicone that doesn’t stretch, I don’t worry nearly as much about breaking the cord during retrieval. This thicker, less-stretchy cord feels a bit more noticeable if it ends up pressed against your body, but it’s minimally bothersome in exchange for a sturdier sensation.
Something about the Mya Beads feels a bit different than “standard” kegel balls. Without dissecting the balls, my guess is that the interior ball (the ball that rolls around inside the outer shell to provide sensation) is larger in size than most kegel balls. This means that the interior ball doesn’t move around nearly as much. You’ll still feel the noticeable movement when active or rolling around or switching from standing to sitting, but it’s a lot harder to notice during standard walking movements or anything that doesn’t tend to jostle your body around often. While most kegel balls don’t provide orgasmic movement with standard walking, you’ll still occasionally get that pleasurable sensation from the interior ball. The Mya Beads don’t seem to provide that for some reason. If you find the regular sensations from most kegel balls to be bothersome or distracting, the Mya Beads might be a solution for you, but for most people, I think the draw of kegel exercisers is that interior sensation – so this might become a problem quickly.
When it comes to cleaning this kegel balls, I think I found that to be the biggest headache of the entire set. The “silicone girdle” doesn’t come off of the plastic balls. However, it does leave a noticeable, tactile seam along the entire sides of the balls. After use, I noticed that a regular cleaning didn’t clean out entirely along the seams. Using a toothpick quickly cleaned out the seam really nicely – but I don’t really like having to take that extra step just to clean my sex toy. The fact that the plastic balls don’t pop out of the silicone harness is probably my biggest complaint about the set. It may not be a deal-breaker for some, but you’ll want to ensure you have a toothbrush or toothpick to clean along the seams on a regular basis to ensure your Mya Beads stay clean and bacteria-free for your use.
Using warm water and anti-bacterial soap is all it requires to clean up your kegel balls after regular use. Like previously mentioned, make sure to use a good, detailed item to clean along the seams on a regular basis. After they’ve all dried, they fit perfectly into their plastic snap-shut case until you’re ready to use them again. When it comes to lubricant, I’d stick to water-based lubricant for ease of use, but if you’re willing to spot test to insure your silicone-based lubricant won’t harm the surface of the silicone girdle, you could use silicone-based lubricant instead.
Overall, while the Mya Beads have a gorgeous presentation and look lovely, they aren’t going to be the “must-have” beads for most. If you really love the idea of luxury and glamour, aren’t too fond of a lot of sensation from your kegel beads, and are okay with taking extra care cleaning your Mya Beads you could love them. The weights are pretty nice, they insert well, and they’re easy to remove as well. They just require a bit more effort than most kegel balls.
