UPDATE DECEMBER 2020: The Booty Parlor Kissable Body Shimmer appears to be discontinued. This sex toy review remains as a reference for anyone who wants more information about this. Looking for something similar? I’d recommend the Kama Sutra Honey Dust powder. It’s the same premise (delicious, body-decorative powder for kissing).
The Body Shimmer is a Booty Parlor product. It comes in Cinnamon, Cotton Candy, and Honey. I have the Cotton Candy variety which is also known as the “Punch Drunk Pink”. Each different flavor also has different sparkle colors in it. This Body Shimmer features a couple of different talents: it makes the body shimmer, it smells good, and it tastes great. The Body Shimmer includes .28 ounces of the powder.
The packaging of the Kissable Body Shimmer is beautiful. It comes in a little white and red box that is perfect for gift-giving. The top-half of this box lifts off really nicely to expose the little ball-shaped container inside. This container has a flat base, so it does stay upright very easily. The ball can be a bit hard to open if you have slippery hands, but it isn’t too bad. Inside of it, there is a little white powder puff with black ribbon for easy handling. The powder itself comes with a little bit of a film on top to keep the powder from escaping, and you’ll need to remove the little film into order to use it. After that, you’re good to go!
I must say that we’ve tried Booty Parlor items in the past, and we’ve never been too excited about them. However, the Body Shimmer completely changes all of that. We really, really like this item. It’s like regular make-up, but instead of being “normal”, it also happens to have sexual uses for it along with the regular uses.
This product is extremely easy to apply. If you’ve ever used most blush or concealer, this one functions in about the same fashion. Inside the container, there is a little plastic tray that holds the little poof away from the majority of the powder. When you shake the bottle, some of the powder comes out from underneath the tray and comes into the tray itself so you can dab at it with the poof. This reduces the mess, but I must say that I still got a bit of mess on myself a couple of times while using it. I think that’s more of my fault than the product’s though.
The sparkle included with this product is not the “kindergarten” sparkle. It’s a nice, mature shimmer. I was really impressed. This shimmer looks perfect in the right lighting, but it doesn’t look too overdone either. It has a slight shimmer to it, and while you can see the sparkles, when applied lightly, it doesn’t look overdone in the slightest; it actually looks very, very sexy. I suggest applying it around the collarbone and cleavage in lower-cut tops and dresses as well as around any obvious curvature like the shoulders or hips if they’re showing.
It tastes amazing too! It does have that slight Cotton Candy taste like promised. Since this is basically flavored dust (from the ingredients), I can’t say that I was expecting a lot, but it’s surprisingly sweet. It’s not overly done though. It doesn’t taste like real Cotton Candy, but it has a nice, sweet taste that isn’t overpowering. I had no problem licking quite a bit of it off of my partner’s body, and it doesn’t leave any weird aftertaste either. In fact, I put a bit of my hand on this just for the sake of licking it off; it really is some yummy stuff for something that’s supposed to be more of a make-up.
The smell is good as well. It’s light, but it’s not missable or overpowering either. You can’t smell it from afar, but if a person is near you for kissing, dancing, or other couple-like activities, it can definitely be smelled. The smell tends to fade about an hour or so after wearing, but it can still be smelled when your partner is very close to you. The scent smells a bit like a variety of candy smells put together, but it’s definitely a nice scent, and it’s one that I really enjoy smelling.
It doesn’t leave the body feeling sticky either. You might feel a bit sticky after use if your partner licks it off of you, but when applied, it doesn’t feel sticky at all. I’d compare it to body powder (which is one of the main ingredients in this, so it makes sense) It’s nice, feathery, and light, but if you get it wet, it doesn’t feel quite as light anymore. It doesn’t leave the skin sticky unless you’re sweating or being licked/kissed, so if you plan on take this out to a club or something, I’d make sure you have a way to clean it off the skin and reapply to avoid the goopy feeling.
In case you are curious, here are the ingredients in the Body Shimmer: Talc, Aroma, Sodium Saccharin, Propylparaben, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite. The body also lists these ingredients as ingredients that the product may contain: Mica, CI 77492, CI 77492, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide, Carmine, and Bismuth Oxychloride. We’ve had no issue with rashes or any sort of irritation from the product.
When I first saw this, I thought it might be a bit overpriced for just some plain ol’ Kissable Body Shimmer. But seriously – it isn’t. The presentation of this product is gorgeous and luxurious, and not only does the product make your skin shimmer with a light-weight dust, but it also tastes amazing and leaves you with a sexy scent. I’m definitely all over this product, and I’m already planning to purchase a new jar when this one runs out.
