Looking to fulfill your tentacle dildo fantasies with a toy that goes from thrusting to swirling in seconds? This Juliet Toys Starfish Dildo review will showcase how we’ve used this dildo to bring some of our tentacle fantasies to life – especially when those fantasies including overwhelming, chaotic pleasure.

The Starfish dildo is an ombre-styled, liquid silicone dildo. 9.5″ of total length with a knot diameter of 2.75″, this is a thick dildo that isn’t for the small of orifice. The head’s diameter is still a thick 1.5″, and it only gets thicker from there until you hit the knot. Make sure that you’re comfortable with thick, textured toys before you pick up the Starfish. That really is the name of its game!

Underneath the toy, the dildo is equipped with a suction cup base.

What is This?

A quick glance at the Starfish will instantly tell you the most important thing you need to know: the Starfish is a tentacle dildo, complete with a swirling, suckered shaft that slides inside.

It doesn’t, however, capture the full picture at first glance. This tentacle dildo is particularly creative!

Not only does the Starfish have the twirling tentacled insertable shaft itself, but it also has smaller “tentacle” protrusions at the base. These five mini tentacle shafts give the base of the Starfish a really unique look and offer a little bit of sensation against your entrance when the dildo is fully inserted.

Each one of these small tentacles at the base of the toy are extremely flexible. They will fold onto themselves with ease, and they can be flicked around with a finger. They do not press uncomfortably into the body, but they do add a bit of a tickling sensation when slid across turned on, sensitive areas.

My finger lightly pushes down one of the small tentacles at the base of the dildo. It folds over easily with a super soft design. For my Juliet Toys Starfish dildo review.

The Starfish also has this twisty shaft design that’s pretty rare in tentacle dildos. This isn’t like a standard tentacle dildo where every inch will feel like the last but in a slightly-bigger size.

Because of the Juliet Toys Starfish’s twisting shaft, while the dildo does get incrementally thicker towards the base, it does it with a bit of chaos. Some shaft circumferences are more circular while other areas are more of an oval. The tentacle suckers are equally chaotic with suckers that twist along with the tentacle’s design. Sometimes you get the suckers against your entrance, and sometimes you don’t.

Juliet Toys Starfish Dildo Review: A Bit of Chaos is a Good Thing

This “chaos” sounds like it could be a negative thing, but it’s actually been one of the things we’ve fallen in love with most.

There’s something nice to be said about the predictability of a tentacle dildo that goes gently from super thin to thicker, knowing each inch will feel the same – but slightly thicker – than the last.

But tentacle fantasies (and tentacle porn) aren’t generally so predictable. If anything, I’d say most of our tentacle fantasies revolve around the “so many tentacles are doing so many things at once that you’re constantly overwhelmed with new pleasure”.

And that’s exactly what the Starfish dildo provides.

I fold the dildo in half. The dildo's tip touches the base of the dildo. It basically folds in half.

While sliding this dildo into my partner, I know that it gets gradually thicker, so I know to take it slow. But it also provides constantly different sensations on his end. Sometimes he’ll get the sucker texture. Sometimes it’ll feel like it gets thinner before swirling large again. Sometimes the silicone feels squishier (like mid-shaft) versus the much, much thicker/rigid feel of the thickest “knot” at the base of the shaft.

It makes every thrust feel a little bit different, and it sets the Starfish dildo apart from the tentacle dildo standard.

My hand is wrapped around the dildo's shaft. It's in the middle. The middle is thick, and my fingers can't meet when trying to wrap around the middle.

This Dildo Was MADE for Twisting!

When trying out the different ways to use this toy for my Juliet Toys Starfish dildo review, we decided to give swirling a try. If you slather this dildo in lots and lots of lube (really! use a lot!), you can twist the dildo while it’s fully inside of someone.

The base actually makes this even easier. The multi-pointed star base lets me slide my fingers in-between each star as I twist the dildo, letting me keep a surprisingly good hold on the toy.

Twisting the toy once it’s in is definitely a two-handed activity, but it’s not a frustrating one. The star-shaped base makes that MUCH easier than a circular base would be.

Pleasure-wise, my submissive absolutely loves it, and it’s a fantastic change of pace to really bring that “tentacle sex” fantasy to life. He feels things moving inside of him (the expanding/contracting of the shaft as the dildo hits different spots when rotating) in a way that fulfills his fantasies. As an added bonus, this little flexible tentacle “arms” at the base also tickle the outside of his body, providing clearer feedback that the toy is moving around inside of him.

I can make the tentacle monster predictably thrust in and out, and them BAM. The tentacle monster swaps it up to swirling the dildo, twisting it inside of my partner with (or without) some added thrusting.

It makes the Starfish dildo much more multi-functional than virtually any other tentacle dildo we have. It’s deliciously unpredictable and a dildo that really “feels” like it fulfills some of those ravaging tentacle fantasies instead of just looking like a hot lil’ tentacle snack.

The dildo is laying on its side, and I'm photographing the base. The base has a very distinct concave design that doubles as a suction cup. The base also looks like a star. For my Juliet Toys Starfish dildo review.

Juliet Toys Starfish Dildo Review: The Suction Cup

While I’m not typically a suction cup person, I generally love how well the Juliet Toys Starfish dildo stays upright. The wide base makes the dildo stand upright with ease – even on slanted surfaces or uneven bedspreads.

Underneath that base is a concave circle, functioning as the toy’s suction cup. The Starfish dildo requires a firmer push up against a flat surface to make that suction cup adhere, but it works!

Read: How to Use a Suction Cup Dildo

It is not the most solid suction cup I’ve ever used. The suction base is shallower than the high-powered suction cups, and the star-shaped base means that there are spots where only a centimeter of material is the only thing holding your suction seal secure. This tentacle dildo’s suction cup works best when it’s adhered upright with someone riding up and down on it. If you try to grind against it or tug it to the side, it often breaks the seal at the base of the dildo.

My hand is wrapped around the dildo's shaft at the tip. It looks extremely slender - much smaller than average dildos. It gets thicker pretty quickly right after the tip though.

The unique base on this dildo might also be a bit more important if you tend to use your dildos within sex toy mounts (like I do). While the baby tentacles at the base will easily fold when pressure is applied, I worry about harming them a bit, and I try not to rub firmly-pressed material up against the tentacles over and over. With their soft silicone material, I don’t want to accidentally rip or tear them.

I would not purchase the Starfish dildo if suction cup use is your primary method for play. It’ll work for it, but it unsecures itself often, and you may end up hurting the baby tentacles at the base if you try to secure it with a sex toy mount.

(As a sidenote, the baby tentacles are fine if you use this dildo in a pegging set-up. The O-ring goes around the shaft of the dildo only, leaving the little tentacles to protrude. For the lowest risk, I’d recommend a strap-on harness that leaves the dildo’s base fully exposed to the air – like this one. (i.e., the dildo’s base isn’t trapped up against the body by a layer of fabric like my favorite Spareparts Joque does). This reduces material grinding up against those little tentacle babies.)

The packaging for the dildo. It's a plain, see-through bag with a zippered top that would allow you to reuse the bag if desired.

Juliet Toys Starfish Dildo Review: Final Thoughts

While the Juliet Toys Starfish dildo makes a solid toy for in-and-out penetration, you’d really be missing out if that’s all you tried. The toy’s unique shaft swirl and star-shaped base make this one of the few silicone dildos that lends itself well to a twisting motion.

This ability to twist while inside the body really can bring tentacle fantasies to life as your “tentacle monster” tries to squirm its way further and further inside of your body in a way that thrusting doesn’t really replicate. Handholding the dildo to facilitate this twisting works surprisingly well with this star-shaped base. That’s probably for the best as the suction cup can be a little flimsier than other fantasy dildos’ suction cups.

While the small tentacles at the base do require a bit of extra forethought for harness and sex toy mount use, they’re a great addition. Their added sensation feels like something squirming around at your entrance while simultaneously just feeling good.

The entire toy is well-made and a lovely, unique departure from the “standard” design of a tentacle dildo.
