FunFactory FOU Vibrator Review

FunFactory FOU Vibrator
The FunFactory FOU vibrator

UPDATE MAY 2020: The FunFactory FOU is no longer in production. This review remains as a reference for those who are interested.

The Fun Factory FOU is a clitoral vibrator created by FunFactory. It comes in a red or yellow color (I’m not fond of the yellow), and it is made from both silicone and plastic. It’s waterproof, and it’s rechargeable via the FunFactory Click’N’Charge system. It’s about three inches long with a diameter of about two inches, and it is intended for external, clitoral use.

The packaging looks really cute, and I’m glad to see that FunFactory has started using this new packaging. This new packaging has some cute pop-art-looking design aspects to it, and it has a cardboard slipcover that fits over the cardbox box itself. Inside this sturdy cardboard box, you’ll find the FunFactory FOU vibrator which will be resting inside of two separate storage pouches as well. One is a satin-like bag while another is like tulle. I think the tulle material is meant to go inside of the satin one to keep the FOU from picking up any lint from the satin bag, and the system works out well. The charger also is included, but it comes in a separate box so the correct charger for your country can be included with your sex toy.

The FOU is very easy to charge. It uses the FunFactory Click’N’Charge system. This system is where there is a magnet in the charger and a magnet in the control panel of the toy, and the toy magnets connect to each other to charge the vibrator. The FOU can share chargers with any other one of the FunFactory toys that use this system. As the FOU isn’t “flat”-shaped, it can be a bit finicky to get it to charger correctly, but it doesn’t take much to get the magnets to allign correctly. The backlit white panel does blink while the vibrator is charging, so you’ll know if your vibrator is charging or not.

The controls for the FOU are a definite improvement over the previous versions of FunFactory toys with this button system. Like the UFO, the FunFactory FOU’s buttons are extremely easy to press and feel very natural to the touch. I had problems with the FunFactory Yooo and previous toys with this system, so I’m really glad to see the change with this vibrator. There is a + and – button, and you just have to hold down the buttons in order to increase or decrease the vibration. The button that used to do the “boost” to instant-orgasm mode now is the pattern control option, so when you want to use the patterns, you just have to click the pattern button.

Showing how the “mouth” of the FunFactory FOU Vibrator will close

The vibrations of the FOU are on the lower end of moderate, and they are on the buzzy side as well. They are probably not strong enough to get most women to orgasm, and they will probably be a tease for most women. The vibrations are a bit hard to hear through a closed door, but they can definitely be heard in the same room. The FOU seems to be louder than most FunFactory toys, but I can’t tell you why that is.

The design of the FOU is certainly one of the most unique parts about it, and I honestly don’t know if I like the design that much. There is a small U-shaped “hole” missing from the silicone where I think it was intended for sensitive areas to go between the two sides of the U-shape. The silicone around the U-shape is flexible, so the silicone can be pushed together to create more pressure around the area that the “toy” is grasping.

A size comparison between the FunFactory UFO Vibrator and the FunFactory FOU vibrator

The vibrations themselves get much softer for the area between the little “grips”. The vibrations feel much stronger when I touch up against one of the sides of the “egg” instead of attempting to slip something between the grips of the mouth of this vibrator. Partnered with that is the fact that the extra silicone of the “mouth” seems to diffuse the vibrations and makes them softer when they grip something. These two things really don’t work out well for a sex toy that is already moderate in vibrations to begin with.

The mouth itself doesn’t work all that well. It just ends up being too hard to keep the mouth “closed” around sensitive areas once the toy gets lubricated. Along with that, the angling required to actually get the toy to surround your sensitive areas is pretty awkward, and it requires you to spread the legs which is something I usually don’t do.

I think I might like the FOU sex toy more if FunFactory had removed the little “mouth” from the toy and reduced how much silicone was on it. With only a coating of silicone and less silicone for the vibrations to travel through as well as a full, plastic inner “core” supporting the toy, I think the vibrations could come across a lot more strongly and really work much better. The vibrations are just not strong enough, personally, for orgasm, and I feel like some changes really would have helped the toy. That being said, if you do like lighter vibrations or really like something to “surround” the clitoral area, the FOU vibrator may be alright for you.

Another comparison between the two vibrators

In comparison to the UFO sex toy (which is a FunFactory vibrator with the same basic features that was released at the same time and features a different shape), the FunFactory FOU vibrator is lighter and smaller. The bases of both toys are the same size, but due to the UFO’s design, the UFO will end up being larger in size than the FOU. The FOU is very slightly louder, and surprisingly, the FOU is certainly stronger. The vibrations themselves with the motor seem equal, but the larger design of the UFO seems to diffuse the vibrations a lot more than with the FOU, so the vibrations on the UFO seem much weaker since it has to vibrate more area. Out of the two, I can’t really “pick” a preference. The UFO would be my preferred shape if it had stronger vibrations, and the FOU would be my preferred shape if it was purely an egg and didn’t have the divet towards the tip.

To clean the FunFactory FOU, you’ll want to use warm water and antibacterial soap. As this silicone sex toy is completely waterproof, you don’t have to worry too much about getting water in the toy. It’s compatible only with water-based lubricants, and it could be stuffed into a glove if you want barrier protection for it. For storage, this little guy picks up a ton of hair and lint from the environment, so I recommend keeping it away from any of that, and it works best just to keep it in the storage pouch that the vibrator comes in.

Overall, I like the idea and the features of the FOU vibrator, but the vibrations need a boost, and I think the design needs a bit of change for those who like strong vibrations. If you want something that is more teasing or enjoy softer vibrations, though, the FOU may work out for you – it just really isn’t the design for me or probably most clitoral-vibrator seekers.
