UPDATE MAY 2020: The Flogger Case XL is no longer in production. This review remains as a reference for anyone who’s curious about this flogger storage case.
As often as I end up traveling with my toys, I thought it was about time that I picked up a case that would travel with me. When I go to play parties, I most often bring large floggers/canes/riding crops, so I needed a case that would work with that.
The Flogger Case XL is 42″ long and three inches wide and deep. It’s made out of fake leather, but it really does feel very nice. The inside is lined with a nice nylon that will protect your floggers really nicely. It’s made out of rigid material and will hold its shape even when nothing is in it. It comes with a lock and key. It also includes elastic bands on the cover of the lid to allow you to slide toys in there for storage. In the main part of the case, it includes elastic and a loop at the top to slide your flogger’s hanging loop into it so the floggers will stay upright during movement. The outside includes a shoulder strap that only goes from half-way point of the BDSM storage case to the end of it. It also has a well-sewn on regular handle.
I’m not sure how I feel about porting this around. It’s nice, and it looks like a tri-pod case, so it’s definitely discreet, but at the same time, wearing the case around just feels downright awkward. It may not have been so bad if the strap went from one end of the case to the other, but instead, it just goes from the half-way point. It makes me feel like my entire case is off-balance when I’m carrying it.
It’s really easy to get the BDSM toys in and out of the case. You can just lie them in there and zip it up and go, or you can take the time to slide them through the loops so they don’t move around. Either way, they’ll stay safe until you reach your destination.
The case itself seems pretty durable. It appears to be very well made, and I’m actually a little annoyed at the fact that it’s so well-made that I can’t open it and get it to stay open without a fight. All of the pieces of fabric seem to be sewn together well.
What I like most about the case is the fact that it’s so large. It can carry the larger floggers because of its size. I have a lot of the different floggers that this great adult toy store sells, but most of them only cover 3/4 of the length of the case – if not less. If you enjoy having “dungeon length” floggers, this case will carry them. Mine leaves me with extra room at the bottom because mine aren’t that long.
I’m disappointed in the fact about how little it can hold, flogger-wise. Maybe it’s just my floggers, but if I want them face-up with all of them attached to the loop, I can get three in. However, that’s also probably because my Fluffy Flogger is really fluffy and eats up all of the room. But even without it, I could maybe get four floggers in. Maybe I just have unrealistic expectations, but I expected the case to hold more than that. For what it does hold, though, it keeps them very safe and keeps them away from anyone’s harm. It’s just more of a question of: Is it worth carrying a case that I feel is awkward to carry instead of throwing my floggers in a backpack for short-term travel? For long-term, it’s very worth it so my floggers don’t get crinkled, but for a ten minute drive? It’s debatable.
The little zipper itself works really well. Any poofy floggers may get caught in the zipper, but it wasn’t too large of a problem. The zipper tags glow-in-the-dark which was a neat surprise. The lock and key is of okay-durability, but I’m honestly not extremely impressed. If you really want to keep your toys locked up, invest in a more-expensive lock; it’s more reliable. It won’t carry any large paddles such as my Teddy Bear Paddle, but it carries most larger things. I think the object you’re looking to fit has to be less than 5 inchs in width for it to fit.
I wouldn’t spill any lubricant in this – I don’t think it would handle it well. In fact, just don’t store your lube in here at all; it’s not a good idea. To clean it, a dampen washcloth with warm water should give it enough of a clean – it obviously doesn’t need to be sterilized as long as you put clean toys in it. I also didn’t have any problems with the case bleeding on any of my toys. Granted, that’s pretty hard to do with a flogger, but it doesn’t appear to be a problem.
Overall, I really did like it, though. I enjoy having something to carry my floggers in, but I really wish it was a bit bigger – it would make me happier if it was. It’s great for anyone that needs to carry their floggers or other large impact toys outside on a regular basis.
