I’ve been really impressed by the Fetish Fantasy Bondage Purple Rope. I wasn’t expecting much, and with 200 feet of the rope, I was expecting it to be pretty low-quality. I was really surprised and in a great way. The rope was pretty high-quality, and while not quite as soft, it’s basically exactly the same rope that I enjoy using for my rope work on a regular basis. This isn’t “hemp” rope or anything, but it’s a great rope in its own right.
The Bondage Rope in Purple is manufactured by Pipedream Products. It’s basically 200 feet of rope wrapped around a large spool. The rope comes in one, long strand, so you can choose to cut the strand in whatever lengths work best for you. It comes in different colors but I have the purple color. The rope is 1/4 inches thick. This rope was not intended for suspension, but it works amazingly for floor work. This rope is supposed to be silk, but to be honestly, I think it’s cotton. It might have some tiny addition of silk to it, but it feels just like soft, sensual cotton. (Not complaining. Silk is slippery and annoying to work with.)
The rope comes in a large box. The rope is wrapped around that giant black spool, and your end is taped to the spool itself and very easy to find. It doesn’t come with any specific instructions. You don’t really need to keep the box it came in, but once all of the rope has been cut into pieces, it’d be a nice place to store all of the rope. The box is actually really nice, tasteful, and relatively discreet.
The ends are unfinished on this rope. At first, the boyfriend found himself annoyed at this, but after we both thought about it, that makes the most sense. Of course you aren’t going to want a 200ft piece of rope – the manufacturer wanted you to take this large piece of rope and cut it into whatever lengths you wanted. For this reason, the rope comes with unfinished ends. Since this is most likely cotton, do NOT attempt to burn the ends. Instead, just use some clear nail polish on the ends to seal them, or my favorite is to get some electric tape, tape up the end of your rope thoroughly then cut in the middle of the electric tape for a nice, clean end. Other people enjoy tying a small knot at their ends to keep the rope from unraveling further.
As I stated before, this rope was never really intended for suspension. The cotton from the rope really won’t hold for that – it’s not weight-bearing. Cotton has a nice stretchiness to it that is horribly bad for suspension work. However, it works amazingly well for tying somebody up without having any sort of weight-bearing load. It has a slight stretchyness that makes it breathable on the person and isn’t scratchy at all like some other ropes can be.
This rope is also amazingly soft. It doesn’t have any prickles up against your skin, and basically feels like your nice, cotton t-shirt in rope form. It doesn’t cause any rope burn against the skin, and when it’s removed, it has gorgeous rope marks from the braiding of the rope. It really is a gorgeous rope that basically matches my other rope that I’ve bought over 10 different copies of. What I love about this Fetish Fantasy Series rope is that I can cut it into longer lengths. Currently, the longest length I have is a 32 foot piece – with this rope, I can have four different fifty foot pieces if I’d like. It really just depends on what length you’d prefer. I want some longer lengths to go with my shorter lengths.
For cleaning, you just have to take your pieces of rope, throw them in a lingerie bag, and toss them into the washer and dryer. Make sure you include the lingerie bag in your plans or your rope will get caught up in the washer and dryer and become the biggest mess you’ve ever seen. A pillowcase will work as well. This can get near bodily fluids and lubricant since it cleans so easily. Plus, when it cleans, if you use softener or anything, it can get even more soft. For storage, I like to fold mine up nicely and store them in my little box for rope.
I’m really a fan of the Fetish Fantasy Bondage Rope. 200 feet is a lot of rope, and it can really be used for virtually any rope tie including elaborate body harnesses or anything else you’d like. Since you can cut it up, you can use it for wrist ties and other smaller ties too. It’s soft, sensual, and perfect for floorwork. Thanks to Pipedream Products for sending me this product for review!
