Fantasy Bondage Tape

Front of the packaging

Now, I haven’t played with bondage tape very much considering how much I’m into BDSM. It just never seems to be something that most of us ever play with – most use duct tape. I’m completely against that since I know it pulls out hair, is painful, and takes away skin cells as well.

The Fantasy Bondage Tape is a regular roll of tape, but instead of being made from adhesive, it’s made from a PVC/vinyl material. It is approximately 66 feet long according to the description on the website. (I haven’t unraveled mine all the way and don’t really want to just to measure it.) It also has a width of about two inches. It comes on a regular roll of reinforced cardboard in a circle without any creases in the tape itself. It did start off with some random strands of PVC hanging off from manufacturing, but if you just pull those off, it looks better.

Back of the packaging

This comes in a regular storage package. It has a cardboard back and the tape is stored in a plastic casing on the front of the cardboard. Unlike the website, the cardboard is from the Fetish Fantasy Series from Pipedream Toys, and as most of their series does, this features a cute (fully-clothed) girl on the front whose ankles and wrists are bound in the bondage tape. The tape claims to be non-sticky, won’t pull off hair, reusable, versatile, sticky to only itself, and good for bondage.

So how well does it meet each of these claims? Well, it does claim to be non-sticky. It definitely holds up to that. Imagine touching a piece of rubber. That’s about how it feels to have this on your arm. There’s no residue at all – in fact, it doesn’t stick to your skin at all. It sticks to itself. It doesn’t matter where you put it or where you use it – it still will stick to itself whether on a stuffed animal or on your skin. It doesn’t leave any residue where its been placed and the worst you might end up with is if the little fraying of the PVC ends up on your skin. However, if you pull off the fraying at the beginning, it’s a non-issue.

Jor’s wrists bound

So does it pull off hair? Nope, not at all. It doesn’t even tug on the skin in the slightest. It doesn’t touch your hair honestly. It’s like wearing a t-shirt when it comes to wearing it. It doesn’t feel tight on the skin at all. However, something to keep in mind is that PVC will trap heat against your body. This means that, with wear, this bondage tape is going to make your arms sweaty. This means that you (or your captive) will be able to escape much more easily since they’ll be able to slip out. I think the boyfriend was sweaty within about thirty minutes of wear.

So is it reusable? Completely. Because PVC has that “no-slip grip” surface to it, the PVC will grip onto other pieces of PVC. This means that there’s no adhesive or anything involved – it’s just the natural properties of the material. It’s completely reusable after you’ve used it forty times. The only time it may become unusable is if you’ve used it so many times the PVC is wearing down, if you end up twisting it enough so it tears, or if it gets too many crinkles in it from bad storage. After I’ve cut the initial pieces I want to use, I end up just folding them in a little mini-circle around itself to keep it nice and happy until the next time I want to use it.

Jor’s wrists and ankles bound

So how to use bondage tape then if it doesn’t leave anything on the skin? It sticks to itself. Like explained in the last paragraph, PVC has properties that allow it to have a no-slip grip to it. (If you’ve ever worn vinyl/PVC and attempted to rub pieces of it together, you’ll know what I mean. It squeaks and makes it very difficult to do.) Pipedream has realized this, and now this tape will end up just sticking to itself instead of anything else that it sticks to. As long as the tape lays flat without too many crinkles, it will stick together without any problem.

So does it work well for bondage? We thought so. Until the captive person has become sweaty, this is darn-near perfect. The only thing that makes it slightly unperfect is the fact that it requires about four wrap-rounds/levels/layers of the tape towards the area before the PVC will have stuck enough to itself that a captive can’t break free. This, of course, is assuming your captive doesn’t want to try. Jor does, so I think we ended up with about twelve layers on him, and even after he had been attempting, he couldn’t get out. It wasn’t until his wrists got sweaty that he was able to slip out of the restraint tape.

We also did the same thing with his ankles. Wrapping it around about ten times, and he wasn’t able to pull his ankles out either. From there, my friend and I wanted to put him into a hogtie, but we couldn’t think of any way to do it with tape. Regardless, his ankles were stuck in there. Even after using that much tape, I’d easily say we have 3/4 of the roll left. (In all honesty, we still have the entire roll left since the tape is reusable, but you know what I meant.) We ended up cutting those two strips off when we’d had them wrapped and now we have two strips of reusable tape for next time we want to play with it.

So what else could you do with the bondage tape? You can use it for small area bondage. For example, you can use it to bind the wrists or bind the ankles together. You could also use it to bind a wrist to an ankle. Another use? With one roll, you could easily make some fetish clothing to wear. Just wrap around a person in a clothing-like fashion and you have your own “duct-tape” dress, but in fetish material! Lastly, and my favorite, would be to do a mummification. A mummification is a BDSM term for when you wrap a person entirely (not face) in duct tape so they can’t move. It’s an extreme form of bondage. I’ve never done it before since it seems like a waste to buy lots of duct tape to do it, but with reusable bondage tape, it actually wouldn’t be a bad idea at all. You’d need more than one roll, but it’d be possible with multiple roles. Aside from that, the possibilities are endless! You decide what works best for your needs and use it that.

While I thought the bondage tape might be more of a gimmick than a real product, I’ve actually found that to be false. In fact, it actually does every single thing it promises to do, and I can’t find a single fault with the product.
